Idealised by composer, Singer and keyboard player

Guilherme de Alvarenga, Born in Ouro Preto-MGBrazil, as his solo project, D.A.M officially started
its activities in 2013s March with the release of the
single Dark Night of the Soul that was a success
among specialized media and fans from this style in
the internet.
The idea was to blend compositional techniques that
comes from Classical music( such as motif
development, thematic unity, among others) with the
aesthetic from melodic death metal, fusing the two
universes in a different way from bands that came
before D.A.M .
That fusion was the theme of Guilhermes

monography that him wrote to get his music degree

from Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, where
the composition process of the EP Possessed
(released in 2013s April) was analyzed.
The EP Possessed had a huge success in the specialized media
and between melodic death metal fans and seeing such
receptivity, there was the first attempt to turn D.A.M into a band
stabilizing its line-up, what wasnt possible due to ideological
differences.
From that first line-up only Edu Megale(Guitar) remained in the
band alongside Guilherme, and after several failed attempts to
complete D.A.Ms line-up, Guilherme makes the decision to
record the material composed and announces to D.A.Ms fans that
the EP Possessed was part of a big trilogy consisting in 3 big
albums with 12 songs each one, and that each album has an EP
with 6 songs that works like a Prelude to the album.
Then the recording process of the album Tales of the Mad King
started and its released happened in 2013s December. That

album expanded very quickly D.A.Ms fan base and opened

many doors allowing it to sell CDs to Japan, Europe, North
America, and giving interviews in a lot of shows from heavy
metal online radios, being again a huge success in the specialized
media and heavy metal fans who praised the ability to aggregate
multiple influences and turn they into a unique sonority.
2014 started with the recording process of the EP
Phantasmagoria, that gives continuity to the story started in the
EP Possessed and in the album Tales of the Mad King .
Meanwhile that Guilherme and Edu started again
the tests to find musicians for D.A.M and in 2014s March they
found in the young 17 years old Caio Campos the virtuosity and
dedication necessary to assume the position of D.A.Ms bass
player. In April Edu represented D.A.M in a historical Jam
alongside the North American guitarrist Paul Gilbert in Belo
Horizonte-MG-Brazil and in May Guilherme, Edu and Caio made
a jam playing D.A.Ms songs and doing some improvising in a
packed event that happened in Praa da Liberdade a very

important cultural spot in Belo Horizonte letting everyone in the

place admired with the virtuosism of the three musicians.
D.A.Ms sonority blends erudite techniques such as Motif
development with aggressive sonority, Complex forms as the
Classical Sonata with the simplicity of Heavy Metal riffs,
Everything interlaced with dark climax and virtuous passages.
The lyrics talks about metaphorical reflexions about occultism
and about the dark side of the human mind.
D.A.M currently lives in Belo Horizonte-MG-Brazil and is
promoting their new release the EP Phantasmagoria and recording
the next album The Awakening, as they keep the tests to find
members and complete the line-up to start the concerts, what is
letting the fans truly anxious.
With inspiration, love and dedication with its work, D.A.Ms
concern is not only to create music but to make History, changing
forever the way to make Heavy Metal!
