INTRODUCTION TO ISLAMIC AQIDAH
Thankful to our parents because give idea and support to be completed the
project . Thanks also to my lecturer Miss Umaimah because give more
knowledge and introduction about Islamic . From her teachings , aqidah is
most important in our life . As a good muslims we must learn more about
aqidah to complete an ibadah . From this chapter and title we learn Tawhid is
to clarify Unity of Allah . Tawhid literally means to believe , to uphold , and to
declare the oneness of Allah . It derived from the Arabic word ‘ wahhada’
means to unite , unify or consolidate , unification or asserting oneness.
Terminologically , tawhid means affirming Allah to be one and singular . One
means there is no god besides Allah and singular means that god cannot be
divided or compartmentalized into different personalities.

Central to Islamic belief is the oneness or unity (in Arabic: tawhid) of
Allah, or God; this is expressed in the basic statement of faith (the shahadah
): "There is no god but god." The basic teaching of Islam is that all religions
at some level express this basic truth, but have been infected by some form
of "associationism" (shirk ), the belief that there is some other thing as
absolute as god, whether that other thing be another god or simply the self.
Tawhid , the unity of God, means that God has no associates, no parents,
and no children. The only guarantee of human salvation in the Qur'an is this
knowledge, and affirmation, that there is no divinity but god.
Since the material world is Allah's creation, this means that the
material world in some way reflects the intention or nature of Allah. The
principle quality of God is unity, so it follows that the created world, the real
world we live and experience, also comprises a unity. In Islamic thought, this
idea is called "wahdat al-wujud," the "unity of the real," and underlies much
of the Islamic world view.

wujud, the unity of the real, and dhikr, the requirement by Allah that
humans continually remember their god and creator. Dhikr is, of course, the
remembrance of tawhid , the unity of god. The ideal, of course, is a perpetual
remembrance of God and God's unity in everything the believer does, thinks,
and says.
Say: “He is God, the One, the eternally besought of all. He begets not,
nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him” (112:1-4)

All that is in heaven and earth gives glory to God. He is Mighty, the
Wise. His is the kingdom of the heavens and earth. He ordains life and death
and has power over all things. He is the First and Last, the Visible and the
Unseen. He has knowledge of all things (57:1-3), and he that renounces idol-
worship and puts his faith in God shall grasp a firm handle that will never
break.
Allah:there is no God but Him, the Living, the Eternal One. Neither
drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. His is what the heavens and the earth
contain. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows
what is before and behind men. They can grasp only that part of His

knowledge which He wills. His throne is as vast as the heavens and the
earth, and the preservation of both does not weary him. He is the Sublime,
the Tremendous. God hears all and knows all.
God is the Patron of the faithful. He leads them from darkness to the
light. As for the unbelievers, their patrons are false Gods, who lead them
from light to darkness. They are heirs of Hell and shall abide in it for ever
(2:255-257). Yet there shall be no compulsion in religion. True guidance is
never imposed by force.

The most important and fundamental teaching of Islam is belief in the
Oneness of God. This is term of Tawhid. This is explained in the Kalimah, the
first Article of Faith: there is no god but God; there is no one worthy of
worship except God. This is the first article of Faith of the Muslim, who
expresses it in these words: “There is no god but God and Muhammad is the
Messenger of God.

in virtue in accordance with the Divine Will. There is no room for polytheism
(belief in more than one God) or atheism (belief in no God) in Islam. A true
believer denounces all other kinds of deities and lowers his head in
obedience to God, the Almighty. The believer, accepts and follows His
Commands in word and deed.
The Knowledge of God and His Attributes inspires and guides one on
the Right Path, and removes all dubious ideas about the existence of
one or many creators. Its confirms God as the sole and supreme
Planner, Designer, Controller, and Creator of earth and the universe.
For surely, such a magnificent world with infinite contrasts of colour, of
light and darkness, of deep blue oceans and high green mountains and
of silvery galaxies of stars with their strange unknown movements,
could not have come into existence by itself or by some freak accident.
Surely, the delicate discipline and balance of this unique system could
only be maintained through the Grace, Knowledge and Power of the
One God, Allah

Surah al-Baqarah portrays the Glory of God in these words:
“Allah! There is no deity but He, the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal.
No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in heaven and
on earth. Who is there who can intercede in His presence except as He
permits?

Muslims believe the divine attributes are synonomous only with
god. These qualities are inherent only in god, and this belief is an integral
part iman.It s true that muslims are unable to describe god because his
person is beyond human comprehension. However, the existence of god can
be realized through his manifestations all round us and through his attributes
as foretold by his messengers. Some of the more important attributes are:

And again in surah zariya: “I have only created jinn and men, that
they may serve me. No sustenance do I require of them, nor do I
require that they should feed me. For Allah is He Who gives sustenance
to all- Lord of Power and Steadfast for ever (Quran 51:56-58). Every
Prophet commanded his people to worship and obey God. Prophet
Noah exhorted his people to worship Allah alone: “He said, “O my
people! Worship Allah! You have no other deity but Him. Will you no
fear Him?” (Quran 23:23). Prophet Hud was sent to the people of ‘Ad
with the same Message: “To the ‘Ad People, We sent Hud, one of their
own brothers. He said: ‘O my people! Worship Allah: you have no other
deity but Him. Will you not fear Him?” (Qur’an 65). Prophet Salih came
to the Thamud people: “To the Thamud people, We sent Salih, one
their own brothers, He said, ‘O my people! Worship Allah; you have no
other deity but Him.” (Quran 7:73). Abraham (Ibrahim) said to his
people, “Serve God and fera Him, that will be best for you – if you

Tawhid can define as Tawhid Rububiyyah, Tawhid Uluhiyyah and
Tawhid Asma Wal Al-Sifat. First the meaning for Tawhid Rububiyyah is to
believe that Allah is a Creator , Nourisher, and provide for all. For example
belief in the oneness of Allah as the lord Sustainer , Creator , Controller,
Master, Owner, and Provider of the world. As a muslims it is a
acknowledgement of a god’s lordship . Allah mentions in the Holy Quran
chapter Al-Anbiya:22 , if there were , in the heaven and the earth other gods
besides Allah , there would have been confusion in both! But glory to Allah ,
the lord of the throne ( high is he ) above what the attribute to him . This is
a proof Allah as a Creator and Controller.
16
INTRODUCTION TO ISLAMIC AQIDAH
Tawhid Asma Wal Al-Sifat means oneness of the names and attributes.
All the names and attributes are the absolute qualities of Allah. In contrast
humans attributes are not absolute . It can define as no tahrif , ta’til , takyif ,
tamthil all attributes to Allah.
