Poor spelling just got a Paterson school's principal demoted. Antoinette Young, former
principal of School 20 in Paterson, has been demoted and relocated to another school
after a sign that misspelled the word "December" was displayed in front of the school. A
city school board member circulated the photo and questioned why the error went
unnoticed for almost a week. The board member went on to say that if the administration
is not taking proper care to correct errors, then students will not be expected to do the
same. The school board has not officially stated why Young was demoted.

One of Santa's Elves was caught sleeping on the job. Police officers responded Friday
morning to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of a Target department
store in Riverdale, New Jersey. Upon arrival officers found the car running with the lights
on and the music blaring. At the wheel was Brian Chellis, 23, of Cedar Grove,
unconscious and wearing an elf costume. After waking Chellis officers detected a heavy
scent of alcohol on his breath and found an open can of beer in the car. He was issued a
summons for driving under the influence. Chellis was released to a family member
pending a January 6th court appearance.

States are now offering new incentives to attract legal attorneys to set up practices. A
South Dakota program is now offering a $12,000 annual federal grant for attorneys who
live in and practice law in sparsely populated areas. Jake Fisher, who was previously
working for a nonprofit firm in Minneapolis was one of the first attorneys to be accepted
into the program. Fisher will be the only attorney in a town of 600 and one of two in a
county of 3,000. Nebraska and Arkansas will also be setting up similar programs in the
coming months.

A New York woman found a hard-working father's wallet in the back seat of a taxi. Annie
Martin, a television makeup artist, was traveling in a New York City Taxi when she
discovered a wallet stuffed with $340 while riding to work. Even thought the wallet
contained no ID, Martin was able to use a receipt to track down the wallet's owner. It
belonged to Gabriel Hernandez, a father of two who was working three different jobs.
The $340 dollars in his wallet was his entire paycheck he had just cashed to pay for his
sons' Christmas gifts. The wallet was successfully returned to the grateful Hernandez.

Belarus is now offering help to Ukraine in it's time of struggle. Alexander Lukashenko,
President of Belarus, met with Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko on Sunday to
discuss the country's struggles. Ukraine has been dealing with a pro-Russia separatist
movement and economic hardships through most of the year. Lukashenko assured

Russia's only independent TV station just had a downgrade. While most Russian news
channels have become increasingly subservient this year, one remains free of bias. The
only remaining source of unbiased news is a channel known as Dozhd News. The
Russian government has been cautious to not shut down the network, but a Kremlininstigated smear campaign has nearly driven the station out of business. The Russian
government passed a bill this summer that bans television stations from running
advertisements. The lost revenue forced Dozhd to cut it's budget in half. Now the
channel, with an audience of nearly 12 million, is broadcasting out of the living room of a
Soviet-era apartment. While it doesn't want to make its current location public, Dozhd is
still thriving under these conditions. Dozhd is even looking to expand their broadcast to
the more remote areas of Russia that still get news from state-run channels.

The National Hockey League is cracking down on diving, embellishment, and other
dishonest play regarding injuries. According to Damian Cox of Sportsnet there are now
22 professional hockey players who have been warned against diving during games.
Diving is deliberately falling to the ice while near another player in an attempt to have the
opposing player thrown out of the game. Since the start of the 2014-2015 season the NHL
has been offering significantly harsher punishments for players convicted of diving.
While there has been some controversy about making the warnings public, the league
believes it will send an example to other players not to dive during play.

The NHL might finally be coming to Las Vegas. Billionaire Bill Foley, owner of a
Florida-based insurance and mortgage company, has petitioned the National Hockey
League to allow him to build a new professional hockey team in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Historically, hockey franchises have struggled to survive in nontraditional markets, and
teams such as the Kansas City Scouts and Atlanta Thrashers relocated to more prominent
areas after failing to attract an audience. However, Foley is confident that an NHL team
could succeed in Nevada. Foley intends to target the employees and families of a number
of large software firms that have been established in the Las Vegas area over the years.
He is confident that the influx of residents in Las Vegas will be more than enough to
support a team. The NHL is currently considering Foley's proposal, and so far has given
Foley permission to host a ticket drive in early 2015 to test the market.

Saturday's episode of Saturday Night Life, veteran comedian Mike Myers made a surprise
guest appearance as his famed Dr. Evil character. In character Myers joked about Sony's
decision to cancel the release of The Interview and make light of how North Korea
