The 6th Indian Youth Science Congress will be held in November 2014
at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Jointly
organized by Acharya Nagarjuna University, M.S. Swaminathan
Research Foundation, SRM University and Rajiv Gandhi National
Institute of Youth Development, the congress aims to provide a platform
for young students and researchers to present their research work and
discuss priority issues in enabling science and technology applications
for human welfare. The congress is open to students and researchers in
all fields.
A key feature of this edition of Youth Science Congress will be an
essay competition among the students on Innovative use of Science &
Technology to address the Zero Hunger Challenge. Ten best entries
will be selected and provided an opportunity to present their views in the
plenary session. The participants of the congress will have an
opportunity to interact with a galaxy of eminent scientists and policy
experts in the field of Science and Technology. Details of the congress

Who should participate: Participation is invited from young


research scholars and students (B.Tech / M.Sc. / M.Tech / Ph.D / Post
Doc) to present their work relevant to the themes mentioned above.
Students and scholars who are not presenting their work can register as
observers without submitting any abstract, and participate in all the
events of IYSC. Students need to be below age 32 in order to present
their work (first authorship).

How to Participate: Interested participants are requested to send


the following on or before November 5, 2014 to the Organising
Secretary, IYSC 2014, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Third
Cross Street, Institutional Area, Taramani, Chennai 600 113 or e-mail
(indianyouthscience@gmail.com). Please courier your participation with
the following details.
One page abstract (not applicable for observers) by email. Hard
copies of abstract will not be entertained.

Essay Competition
This is aimed at giving an opportunity to young scientists to share their
vision for use of science and technology for public good. The title of the
essay is Innovative use of Science & Technology to address the Zero

Hunger
Challenge.
Essays
are
to
be
e-mailed
to
indianyouthscience@gmail.com with a maximum word limit of 1500. A
certificate from one of your faculty members should accompany the
entries stating that these are original writings of the person submitting
the entry.
10 best entries will be selected by a jury and select entries will be
provided a 10 minute slot for making a presentation in the plenary
session of the congress. These selected students will be provided free
registration and accommodation and travel support for participation in
the event. Also, these select essays will be featured in the proceedings as
a separate section.

Free accommodation in guest houses will be arranged for registered

Acharya Nagarjuna University


Acharya Nagarjuna University has completed three decades of its
existence. It was inaugurated on 11th September, 1976 by the former
President of India, Sri Fakruddin Ali Ahmed. University has got over
450 affiliated colleges in Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam Districts. The
Acharya Nagarjuna University at present offers post-graduate education
in 47 courses. The University has two post-graduate centers one at
Nuzvid, Krishna District and the other at Ongole, Prakasam District.

M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation


M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) was registered in
1988 as a non-profit Trust. MSSRF is doing research in the following
five areas: Coastal Systems Research, Biodiversity and Biotechnology,
Ecotechnology and Sustainable Agriculture, Reaching the Unreached
and Education, Communication, Training and Capacity Building. The
Foundation is known for its emphasis on bottom-up participatory

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development


RGNIYD is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Youth
Affairs & Sports, fully funded by the Government of India. RGNIYD
functions as vital resource centre coordinating Training, Orientation,
Research, Extension and Outreach initiatives for State, Central
Governments and national level youth organization. The institute
undertakes in depth research with a holistic approach to identify youth
