Objectives
The objectives for both learners and educators are:
to know different types of common marine litter and their characteristics
to explain sources, causes and the impact of marine litter as well as any regional
variations
to understand different attitudes and behaviours associated with littering so as to best
address them
to make informed decisions and motivate action
to investigate current tools and policies on marine litter issues
Target Audience
The material is designed for educators and learners of the middle and secondary school level
between the ages of 10-15. The material can also be used by other educators including those
working in NGOs, aquariums, coastal parks, etc. as part of their educational and outreach
activities.
Terminology
The term marine litter is used throughout this material and refers to any
persistently manufactured or processed solid material discarded, disposed of

- To think of possible anti-consumption habits that could prevent marine litter generation.
