The brothers, R. K. Behera and S. K. Behera, from a humble beginning, scripted the story of the RSB in 1975 at
Jamshedpur. Three decades later, headquartered at Pune, it has grown into a pulsating institution with manufacturing
setups at Jamshedpur, Pune, Dharwad, Chennai, Pantnagar, Cuttack and Homer (USA).

Propeller Shaft
RSB is a vertically integrated Propeller Shaft Solution provider, enjoying the largest market share in India. To
enhance its in-house technical capabilities and overall productivity, RSB has developed a technical collaboration with
Eugen Klein GmbH,Germany for acquiring technical know-how in designing, processing and testing.
The Propeller Shaft Manufacturing program covers more than 65 unique part designations. RSB is focused on
catering to the present & futuristic commercial vehicle power transmission requirements and meeting the stringent
quality norms. The six manufacturing plants set up at 4 locations are functioning to assist Auto OEMs for Propeller
Shaft solutions targeted towards regular production as well as after market requirements.

Engineering
RSB has designed and developed new Propeller shafts that are lighter, more cost effective, achieving improved performance
levels of torque transfer. RSB provides validated newer designs extended to cover several models of Commercial Vehicles,
Trucks, and Buses by conducting extensive field trials under varied terrains and load conditions. RSB ensures competitive edge
by providing re-designed Roller Bearings, fully enclosed seals, Serration joints, RILSAN surface coating treatment. The other

Axles
Axles are one of the most significant products offered by RSB. It has a staggering capacity to manufacture 2,00,000
Axles/year. There are plans to enhance the capacity by 30% to cater to the export market. Well-equipped
manufacturing lines have been dedicated to develop a variety of Axle.

Manufacturing
RSB is efficiently producing trailer axles, dummy axles, LCV front axles, banjo
axles, tractor axles. Initially the products were manufactured to suit customer
designs, RSB now provides axle solutions with self indigenous design that can
universally match the varied customer needs. The integrated engineering plant
has been facilitated with state-of-the-art technology to design, develop and
validate the axles. The facilities include Induction Heating, Sub-merged Arc
welding, Flexible designed SPM's, CNC Turning / Vertical Machining Centers and
Painting.

Engineering
The plants have comprehensive engineering and manufacturing processes for the
Customer designed Axles. RSB also ensures the efficacy by providing customized
solutions with its own design. I-Design, RSB's engineering facility, closely works with the
customers to assist in activities related to Design, FEA, Prototyping, Testing & Field
Trials.

Assisted

Aluminium Castings
RSB offers precision machined Aluminium castings to domestic as well as export markets. RSB has been assisting
any intricate casting ranging from 0.5 Kg aluminum component to 8.0 Kg aluminum component. RSB has been
successfully managing the complete supply chain program for a reputed US based OEM and supplies around half a
million components annually. The scope includes local warehousing in US and daily online supplies. The existing
export supply agreement has been renewed for the next program that reaffirms the faith of the customers.

Manufacturing
RSB has integrated backwards to produce the aluminium castings in High
Pressure Die Casting.
The machining lines have been established according to the products offered to
the customers. All the plants are with modern and high-speed Machining
Centers integrated with online SPC for the high volume production lines, CNC
Presetter and Carl Zeiss CMM. The components are 100% leak tested and
match the stringent quality requirements of the export customers ensuring high
quality standards.

Ferrous Castings
RSB manufactures Ferrous Castings as per customer design & specifications at its manufacturing plants located at
Jamshedpur & Pune. It offers and supplies a wide range of products to leading OEMs like Cummins.RSB completely
manages the supply-chain from Castings procurement stage to the supplies and also conducts periodical supplier
audits.
An in-house Quality Control has been ensuring high quality standards. The vast experience of the professionals and
the expertise of RSB has been the key to manufacturing cost-effective and reliable Automobile Parts.

Manufacturing
This is equipped with modern machining lines and robust process engineering to meet the quality and volume requirements. The
machining lines are also equipped with various testing facilities to carry out in house test for cracks, hardness, metallurgical
properties and leaks among others.

RSB is amongst the largest trailer manufacturers in India in the organized sector. Its specialization in the field of
heavy fabrications with critical machining has enabled it to cater to the requirements of the trailer industry.
RSB is the only trailer manufacturer in India, having its own axle manufacturing facility. It manufactures the most ideal
trailers that are lighter in design and its usage of laser technology creates a better wheel alignment.

Manufacturing
Modern design techniques like FEAs and design software like PRO-E, UG by the design
house I-Design helps in manufacturing highly efficient trailers. RSB expects the trailer
business to grow @50% Y.O.Y. and contribute highly towards RSB s progress.
The illustrious facilities at the manufacturing plants include a semi-automatic welding,
Shot blasting, 400 hrs SST in the liquid painting process. Every trailer is strictly
scrutinized through static & dynamic testing before handing over to customers and meets
the CMVR norms.

Engineering
Every element is developed after a comprehensive detailing. A parallel
I-beam has been developed for better strength to weight ratio. Modern
FEA techniques are deployed for precise fabrication.
A strategic alliance has been formed with BPW Axle, Germany, for the
latest axle technology with anti-lock braking system, disc brake, air
suspension, liftable axle, boggy axle.

Construction Equiment Aggregates


RSB is a forerunner in the Construction Equipment Aggregates industry in India. It has set up three modern
manufacturing facilities at Jamshedpur, Dharwad and Chennai.
RSB has reached significant milestones in the exports market over past few years. The services and the efforts are
being reflected by the faith of our international customers. Today, RSB is serving as a single source to many
overseas customers and manages their supply chain.

Manufacturing
The manufacturing units have been empowered by some of the most contemporary tools and techniques that enable better
productivity. Technology and facilities such as CNC Laser Cutting, Plasma Cutting & Oxy. Cutting, Robotic Welding, CNC Floor
Boring Machines, Vertical Boring Machines, Machining Centers, etc have been installed.

Engineering
Amenities like process engineering for the aggregates have been established. Services related to Special Designs & Engineered

Assessment Series.
In addition, RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd. UNIT III manufacturing facility at
Jamshedpur has received welding certification of DIN 18800 Part 7
Clause E as per European standards. Till date this is the only unit in India
to have received this certification.
The Group is in the process of institutionalizing TQM practices and aims
to challenge Deming Award in 2010.

Vendor Relationship
We view and value vendors as stake holders in our
Group. This is the corner stone of all our vendor
relationship policies. The Group follows well laid out
transparent and fair procedures in all aspects of
vendor relationship. These procedures are corollary to
our Global Code of Conduct.
Respect for vendors, understanding their difficulty, ethical pricing and protection of their
interest are dear to our heart. We strongly believe that we can only grow along with our
vendors and not at their cost. We do not believe in zero sum game and practice win-win
approach.
RSB being a multi product and multi location organization, there is immense focus on
the supply chain function. At corporate level at the apex, the strategic sourcing
department drives the supply chain function; evaluates and selects vendors and evolves
the terms of partnership. The corporate strategic sourcing department integrates the
material requirement of each plant, coordinates with the vendors spread across the
globe and develops a unified supply chain policy and arrangement. Its major focus is to
forge long-term relationship with the vendors.
We nurture and assist our vendors in improving their quality and up grading their
production systems. We assist in transferring the various initiatives like KAIZEN,
POKAYOKE, SIX SIGMA practiced in RSB plants to vendors to enable them to enhance
their processes and quality and to reduce cost. RSB has high level of concern for

environment and expects our vendors to follow the same. We are constantly on the look
out for strategic tie-ups with vendors having innovative technology.
We buy products and services in several areas like castings, forgings, sheet metal
parts, automotive components and aggregates. This will significantly increase soon
when our trailer business will acquire critical mass. To support our manufacturing plants
throughout the globe, we are looking for cost effective and quality suppliers in areas of
casting and forging having ISO/ QS 9000 certification.

Interns will be assigned to a mentor, who will provide a clearly outlined program or
project and at the end of the assignment will complete an evaluation.

History

In 1975, Mr. R. K. Behera, a young mechanical


engineer from NIT, Jamshedpur, hailing from a humble
service oriented middle class family, shunned the
security of a job and plunged into the hurly burly of
high-risk and high-reward business arena and founded
International Auto in Jamshedpur with 15 people and
500 square feet of workspace.
Inspired and motivated by the benevolent ideals of the legendry JRD and obsessed with
an incorrigible and irrepressible passion to create a world class industrial edifice, R. K.
Behera along with his brother S. K. Behera set about meticulously crafting the presentday RSB enterprise brick by brick.
Toughened by the early trials and tribulations and propelled by nothing-is-impossible
spirit of the Behera brothers, RSB has now blossomed into a pulsating and throbbing
global engineering institution in automotive components and systems and construction
equipment aggregates.
RSB now boasts of manufacturing facilities in six different locations in India and one in
the USA with 85,000 square metres of workspace. Latest technologies and human

Mr. R.K. Behera (RKB) is the founder and Chairman of RSB Group. Mr. RKB is a graduate in
Mechanical engineering and has undergone specialized training in several areas of Industrial

Prior to joining RSB in the year 2004, he was associated with Automotive Wiring Systems

Aluminum Industries Pvt Limited. He currently looks after the Corporate Finance portfolio
including M&A and Private Equity Deals of the Group as a whole. He has worked in areas of
Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity, Finance & Accounts, Audit, Funds management,
MIS, Taxation, Excise Customs, Forex Management during his career. Mr. Lenka is a B.Com
(Hons), a Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary by qualification having an overall

RSB Transmissions North America Inc. (Formerly known as Miller


Brothers Manufacturing Co.) enters the 21st century in a facility of
98,000 square feet with more than 150 dedicated employees and
projected sales of over $25 million. Chris and Pat Miller established the
Company in 1991 and the same year opened it in a newly remodeled
facility on the west side of Homer, Michigan. Equipment was acquired
along with an outstanding nucleus of people who strive to continue the
fine Miller reputation of high quality, dependable service and complete
customer satisfaction.
The tradition began when their father, James Miller, risked everything
in 1946 to start a tool and die shop in Homer, Michigan, behind his
home on Adams Street. He trained each of his four sons to operate
equipment and process parts. He also helped them establish values of
customer service and high quality workmanship.
Three of the four sons purchased the business, known as James Miller
Machine Co., from their father in 1978. Working in the shop by day
while working nights and weekends to enlarge the facilities, they
expanded the business substantially while developing a group of 30
young workers into a unified team.
The business was sold to Sudbury, Inc. in 1984 to provide an infusion
of capital for further expansion which included the purchase of Steel
Products in 1987. The Company continued to grow in sales, employing
140 people working at two sites. The Miller brothers completed their
contracts with Sudbury on December 31, 1990.

I-Design Engineering Solutions Limited was established in the year
2002 to provide in house R&D support. Today with a technical human
resources pool in excess of 100, it not only provides R&D services to
the various Group companies but also extends such services to
external automotive and engineering companies.
Its gamut of activities include design, development, prototyping, design
and assembly of Test Rigs, laboratory and field testing, data
acquisition and analysis, localization and homologation among others.
Its product focus includes automotive components and systems and
design review. The latest addition to this list is electronic and control
engineering with the ultimate objective of foraying into design and
engineering of Vehicular Electronic Control Systems.
