Memory In Motion
Say It Again
Say It Again is an activity that uses large motor movement, listening, and reciting skills to
help the children memorize the monthly Bible verse.
What You Need: No supplies needed
What You Do:
During the activity: Lead the children in doing the motions while saying the verse several times
together.
What You Say:
During the activity: We have a new Bible verse and I cant wait to teach it to you. This one
verse tells us about everything we needeverything! Are you ready? (Pause.) It says, You are
everything I need, Psalm 119:57. Do you know WHO that verse is talking about? (Pause.)
JESUS! Jesus is everything we need. Thats why when I ask, Who do you need? I want you
to say, [Bottom Line] I need Jesus. So tell me: Who do you need? (Pause.) [Bottom Line]
I need Jesus! Now lets practice our new verse. Just say what I say and do what I do. You are
(point up) everything (hands out to sides) I need (point thumbs to chest), Psalm 119:57. (Open
your hands like a book.) Good job! Lets say that again! (Repeat the verse together with
motions several times.)
At the end of the activity: There are lots of things we think we need, but really all we need is
Jesus. He knows what we need and will always take care of us. So tell me, who do you
need? (Pause.) [Bottom Line] I need Jesus!

Make It Real (Small Group)

SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): Jesus did something only He can do in our Bible story
today. He made a deaf mans ears hear! The man couldnt hear anything! He couldnt hear his
friends talk or his dog bark or music playnothing! This man knew he needed Jesus. Did
Jesus have the power to help the man? He sure did! Jesus made his ears hear! It was
amazing!
We need Jesus, too. Who do you need?
CHILDREN and SGL: [Bottom Line] I need Jesus.
SGL: Thats right! We all need Jesus. In fact, Hes everything we need. It says so in the verse
weve been learning. Say it with me and do the motions.
CHILDREN and SGL: You are everything I need, Psalm 119:57.
SGL: Perfect! Say it again.
CHILDREN and SGL: You are everything I need, Psalm 119:57.
SGL: You got it. Last time we made a list of our good friends and asked God to help us tell
them about how Jesus is everything we need. Today I want us to make a list of anybody we
want. And I mean ANYBODY! It can be a coach, a doctor, a teacher, a grocery clerkanybody!
Because everyone needs Jesus, right? Right! So lets make that list!
(Write down the childrens names and what they say in your journal. Remember to print the
words so they can recognize their names and letters.)
SGL: I love the list we made. Now we can pray for them. Would anyone like to say your own
prayer before I pray?
(Give each child who wants to pray the opportunity to do so and then close with a prayer that
includes the list the children made.)

Prayer
SGL: Dear God, every person is special to You. You made them and love them and want
them all to know that Jesus is everything they need. Help us to tell people that Jesus has the
power to help them and He is everything they need. Help (childs name) tell (person listed) and
(repeat with each child). Everyone needs to know that You love us and sent Jesus to help us.
Thank You for loving us like You do, God. You are amazing! In Jesus name, amen.

Do You Hear What I Hear?
Do You Hear What I Hear? is an activity that allows the children to concentrate on the
concept that was discussed in the story.
What You Need: Safety Rope
(NOTE: For this activity, consider taking them for a walk around the church however please
use the safety rope and ask all the kids to hang onto the rope. )
What You Do:
Before the activity: Have the children line up in a single file line.
During the activity: Lead the line of children on a walk. Invite the children to listen to the
sounds. Point out music you may hear, voices, or other church sounds.
At the end of the activity: Discuss the sounds that you heard.
What You Say:
Before the activity: Lets go on a walk with our friends! Today in our story, we learned about a
man who could not hear. We are very thankful that we are able to hear, so lets listen very
carefully on our walk.
During the activity: (Point out the different sounds that you hear.) We have to be very quiet so
that our ears can do their job! It is hard to listen well if we are talking. Wow! Do you hear that?
(Pause.)
At the end of the activity: It is amazing how many wonderful things we would miss if we could
not hear! God has given us such an amazing world to live in with awesome sounds! In our
story today, we talked about a man who had very good friends. He could not hear, and he
NEEDED Jesus! Jesus helped him hear sounds again! We all need Jesus! Who do you
need? (Pause.) [Bottom Line] I need Jesus!

Listen and Move
Listen and Move is a listening activity that also incorporates following directions and problem
solving.
What You Need: A tambourine and a horn.
What You Do:
Before the activity: Place all of the supplies where you can get to them easily.
During the activity: Have the children stand in front of you. Make sure they are an arms-length
away from one another. Explain that when you play the drum you want them to jump. When
you ring the bell, they should touch their toes. Play the instruments at random and have the
children do the movements that are assigned to each instrument. Start slowly at first, and then
speed up the time between instruments.
What You Say:
Before the activity: Do you know what these are? (Pull at your ears.) Yes, they are my ears. I
listen with my ears. We are going to do something super fun, but we all have to use our ears.
Everyone stand in front of me. Hold out your arms to the side like this. (Demonstrate.) Make
sure you are far enough away from your friends so your hands do not touch them.
During the activity: I have a horn (honk horn) and a tambourine (shake the tambourine). They
each make sounds that our ears can hear. When you hear the horn sound (honk horn) I want
you to jump as high as you can! When you hear the tambourine sound (shake the tambourine)
I want you to touch your toes. Got it? Here we go! (Play the sounds alternately. Play slowly at
first, and then speed them up).
At the end of the activity: Great job! You are great listeners! Our ears help us so much so that
we can listen to things. We can hear our mom and dad tell us what to do, listen to the teacher
to learn new things, and hear if a car is coming before we cross the street. In our story today,
we heard about a man whose ears did not work! He needed someone to help him. Does
anyone remember who helped him? JESUS!! And He can help us too!
