Level-3 Sybase DBA - for a Banking Organisation in US

Background
Our client needs a Level-3 Sybase Database Administrators with very sound
experience Sybase 15.7 and involved in migration initiatives/ projects and in BAU in
the capacity of a Level-3 resource.

Requirement: 1 Nos.

Either in Nashville, Weehawken and Chicago
Address in NJ: 1000 Harbor Blvd Weehawken, NJ or any other office in NJ
Address in Chicago: 1 N Lower Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606 or any other office in
Chicago
The offered position is for Level-3 Sybase Database Administrators, with
significant exposure to Sybase 15.7, to become part of the migration initiatives/
projects, with overall experience of at least 8 years with excellent
communication skills and business interfacing experience.
General Description
Responsibilities :Being an a SME and Level-3 Sybase DBA for the migration initiatives/projects
Adhering to SLAs
Mentoring / Training /Grooming Team Members
Handling tickets / requests
Perform root cause analysis
Troubleshooting technical issues
Defining processes and ensuring that the processes are adhered to
Oversees and is responsible for successful completion of Installation,
configuration and migration
Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
- Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment
Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario
Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
Suggests new technologies and design changes
Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by the team members
- Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level
Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time
Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating
Technical Requirements

Evaluate the Database Server Hardware.

Define/Recommend/Maintain Database Standards and Architecture.
Recommend Server H/W, Adaptive Server Editions & Replication Server for a
Expert in Database Design.
Research and Recommend Patch management for database/Server Impact

Analysis.
Initiate need and Impact Analysis for Database Migration/Upgrade
Technical Consultation.
Vendor Support and Interaction
Advance Database Performance tuning (Optdiag,Reorg , Replication tuning ,
Database Tuning etc.)
Recommend and Review Backup and Recovery Strategies.
Knowledge about new feature of Sybase 15.5/15.7 (online reorg, Data
compression, Shrinking log, Etc.)
Well versed in MDB table, Sybsecurity Auditing Etc
Designing/Recommending Database Security Policy.
Configure multiple tempdb
Having experience of DR Solution/Implementation/Execution through various
synch methods.
Designing strategy towards Capacity Management for DB tracks.
Designing Sybase Server Security (Server hardening,Auditing,SOX
compliance,Sybsecurtiy)
High Availability Features (Failover Clustering, Database Mirroring,
Replication warmstandby and table level)
Expertise in UNIX (job , unix scripting and cronjobs)
