Adopt a Child and Start Changing the World

Have you ever thought about how much your parents contributed to your
personality and formation? Whether the parents were demanding with their children
about behavior or not, the children have become a mirror of them, or at least share
the same thoughts after growing up. However, how about children who dont have
parents? According to the website Orphanhopeintl.org, every day 5,760 more children
become orphans. Generally, orphans are more likely to become marginals and less
educated than non-orphans. Adoption is essential to society for two reasons: prevent
the young from having a marginal life and provide them a home.
The orphans worldwide constitute a bigger problem than we have thought.
According to US Government and UNICEF, It is estimated there are between 143
million and 210 million orphans worldwide. Generally, the reasons about the
existence of so many orphans in the world are unwanted pregnancy, parents who do
not have enough money or conditions to take care their child and negligence. Around
the world, there are many cases about poor teen girls that get pregnant by an accident
and additionally, sometimes the father is unknown or he does not even have money
and so come the decision of the abandon; maybe the parent(s) thinks it could be
better for the child.
The values and beliefs of the people are made in childhood. Without doubts a
child who has a solid educational and behavior base might have a promising future.
According to The State of the Worlds Children 2005, studies also show that 60% of
the orphaned girls become prostitutes and 70% of the boys become hardened
criminals. As it was pointed out before, it is possible we make a prediction about how

the affection and love from parents or relatives can model the childs personality.
Probably the most difficult age for an orphan child is childhood, he/she sees every
single day all friends talking about gifts, travels, weekends plans and family life and in
general and he/she cant do anything to enhance that situation, therefore orphan
children are more susceptible to get sadness and depression than others. Of course for
everyone the situations lived in the childhood are determinant for the formation of the
individual. Children who suffer depression can become rebels over the years and in the
adolescence start getting in trouble and after this, it can be so late to come back.
Some people may think about the prohibition against homosexuals or people
with HIV adopt children, probably their arguments consist in the child get a wrong
behavior and lately become one too, and according them, it is not good for the
society. Those people have to stop with these prejudgments and think about the life
quality and future of the children and maybe, put themselves in those who had never
had a home, education and a dignified life.
Summarizing, everyones personality is based on the principles taught by their
parents, so if a child does not have his/her parents, when he/she is adopted, he can
still get a good education and become a good person. We have seen on the television,
newspapers and internet things like world needs changes and the people are the
responsible to do this. Apparently, it is big and difficult to do, but I think that the first
and main step for that is to adopt a child. If you do this, you will start to change the
world, changing that little childs world.
