Nashua native Shirley Ann Turner (center) has been a

missionary in Africa since August 2012. While she arrived home

to spend the Christmas holidays with family and friends, she

will soon be going back to Zambia to continue the Lords work.

A missionar y on another mission

Shirley Ann Turner continues

to fulfill her lifelong dream as a
missionary in Africa and is currently
working on a project to fill a shipping
container to send to Zambia for the
teachers and students.
The Teacher Training Centre
(TTC) in Zambia is growing and

developing a program to train local

Zambians as teachers to start Christcentered schools in vulnerable
and rural areas in southern Africa,
bringing transformation to the lives
of children, families, and whole
communities.
The TTC is in need of a library

for the use of training teachers. The

library will also be used as a resource
center
for local community schools in the
area that have very little access to
books. A 40-foot shipping container
has been purchased and being filled
continued on page 2

Shirley Ann continued from front

with donations of items
to create the library and
shipped to Zambia. The
container will then be
converted to be the actual
library building!
Would you like to
help Shirley Ann and her
crew fill the container?

A Very Grateful Thank You

Words cannot express appreciation our
family has for the support of the Glasgow
community- churches, families, schools and
businesses. We cannot begin to identify everyone who has reached out to us these past nine
months - but we do not forget one kind word,
inquiry or the financial support that has
come our way. The most recent benefit for
Nik at St. Pahaels was attended by so many,
we will surely miss recognizing many of you.
A very special thanks to Mandy Bell and the
Core Team Teachers, Parents and Youth
Group for all the work in the kitchen and
throughout the evening serving dinner, running the Silent and Chinese auction, and for
those of you who donated items for this event.
We are getting closer to a transplant date,
but still need to have all the donor screening
completed in Seattle. We ask that you continue to pray for and offer Nik support as
you see him around town. Thanks again for
all you are doing for our family.

Ringing it in hockey style

by Sam Knodel

Many Glasgow parents and young Hockey players
ventured to Kalispell to ring in the New Year
Hockey-style. The girls were in their Northeast
Montana element with temperatures that dipped below
zero for most of the first weekend in 2015. Playing all
4 games on Kalispells beautiful outdoor rink made the
cold weather seem not quite so harsh for some reason?
With high-powered lights trained on the two teams
and flakes of snow gently falling from the sky, the U19
Girls would engage Missoula for the first of 4 spirited
battles.
Alex Simensen scored the first and only Glasgow
goal during a Power Play only minutes into the first
period. It wasnt until midway through the 3rd period
that Missoula would score their first and only goal. 5
trips to the penalty box for Missoula and 1 trip to the
penalty box for Glasgow would end the game at a tie,
1 1. Even with a short overtime, the game remained
dead-locked! (Game 1, Glasgow 1 Missoula 1)
A chilly Saturday morning would see Glasgow
facing the local favoritesWhitefish. The Glasgow girls
showed their strength with a total of 5 goals Madison
Knodel, Baylie Chappell, Teagan Fossum with an assist
by Madison Knodel, followed by Sadie Sukut and another
goal by Madison Knodel. The Whitefish girls battled hard
but couldnt get one past Glasgows Autumn Gault. One
penalty visit for Glasgow while Whitefish made 5 trips to
the box! (Game 2, Glasgow 5 Whitefish 0)
Saturday night would pit the Ice Dawgs against
Lethbridge. This was a fairly heated match as this
author was a witness! Trading blows, skating hard and
fastthis game kept everyones attention. Glasgows
Makenzie Wesen made the first goal while Kennedy
Schmidt took care of the second goal. It wouldnt be
enough to hold off the Lethbridge team howeverwith
Lethbridge scoring 5 goals over the next 2 periods.
Seems as though both teams spent more time in the
penalty box than on the actual ice! Glasgow spent
a total of 12 minutes in the penalty box compared
to Lethbridges 6 minutes! A great match! (Game 3,
Glasgow 2 Lethbridge 5).
Sunday morning in the park, Glasgow would play
the Gracious hosts of this fine event, the Kalispell
Flames! Glasgows Ice Dawgs took immediate control of
the situation at hand! Scoring for Glasgow would include
Alex Simensen, Carly Wesely, Josey Uphaus, Maddy
Uphaus, Teagan Fossum with an assist by Carly Wesely,
Makenzie Wesen with an assist by Carly Wesely, Carly
Wesely, Kennedy Schmidt, Carly Wesely, Alex Simensen

with an assist by Carly Wesely, Baylie Chappell with an

assist by Krista Hentges, Brett See with an assist by Krista
Hentges, Jessie Kennedy with an assist by Bailee Holstein
and the final goal by Carly Wesely with an assist by Alex
Simensen. The Kalispell Flames played hard and tried
their best, but any goals would elude them during this
match and Glasgows Autumn Gault showed her strength
here. Two penalties for Kalispell, no penalties for Glasgow
(Game 4, Glasgow 11 Kalispell 0).
