assassin for the U.S. government and once told him, I take

During the hearing, which stretched over four days, neither Driscoll nor her attorney refuted the testimony. Driscoll
was not immediately available for comment after the hearing
Tuesday and did not immediately respond to voicemail messages.
Busch testified Monday that he decided to end his relationship with Driscoll after a race last fall because she was
monopolizing his schedule and he needed to focus on racing.
Driscoll said Busch assaulted her in his motorhome
at Dover International Speedway a week later, grabbing
her by the throat and slamming her head into a wall three
times. Busch and his attorneys have denied the allegations,
which are the subject of a separate criminal investigation.
Driscolls attorney, Carolyn McNeice, cross-examined Busch
on Tuesday, but few of her questions dealt directly with the
assault allegations.
Busch has testified that he repeatedly told Driscoll to leave
after she showed up unannounced at his motorhome, finally
cupping her cheeks in his hands, looking her in the eye and
telling her she had to go.
He advised that her head tapped the wall as he was doing
that, Detective James Wood testified Tuesday, recounting
Buschs interview with Dover police in November.
Richard Andrew Sniffen, a Christian music minister who
performs at NASCAR outreach events and befriended Busch
and Driscoll, said Driscoll told him on the night of the alleged
assault only that Busch had pushed her and that she hit her
head. Sniffen said Driscoll was upset, angry and brokenhearted, but that she never said she was afraid of Busch and seemed
intent on reconciling.

DELPHOS The St. Johns girls
basketball team won its third game in a
row to reach the .500 mark with a 55-25
victory over the Paulding Panthers at
Robert A. Arnzen gymnasium Tuesday
night.
The Lady Jays jumped out to an
early lead with coast-to-coast layins
after steals by Sydney Fischbach and
Madilynn Schulte. Fischbach lead the
charge with a turnaround jumper from
the baseline and a pair of free throws
as the Jays led 8-0. Paulding got on the
board at the 3:40 mark with a bucket
by Suzanne Reinhart. After Schulte hit
a 3-pointer, Rebekah Fischer got in the
books with a jumper off an assist by
Fischbach. The Panthers got back-toback baskets by Reinhart on a drive and
Faith Vogel from the lane to cut the lead
to six. Senior guard Emilee Grothouse
connected on a triple before the buzzer
as the Jays led 16-7 after one.
St. Johns blew the game open with
a 11-0 run to start the second quarter with scores by Sam Kramer, Lexie
Hays, Jessica Geise and Lexie Hays.
Pauldings Brooke Combs ended that run
with a pair of free throws as the Panthers
trailed 27-9. St. Johns displayed great
teamwork as Tara Vorst found Hays for
a bucket and then Vorst hooked up with
an open Fischbach for the layin. At the
other end of the floor, Fischbach got
the steal and pushed the ball ahead to
Rachel Pohlman as the Jays took a 33-9
lead into the locker room.
The Panthers scored first after the
break on a banker by Combs and Schulte
answered with a length-of-the-floor
drive and bucket. Faith Vogel grabbed

the putback followed by a 3-pointer by
Combs. Fischbach scored off an assist
by Hays but Paulding kept the lead at 20
with a pair of charity tosses by Vogel.
The Blue Jays offense was slowed
with 3:14 remaining in the third, not by
any shots.
In the meantime, Kalida
ended the second period on
a 6-1 run to lead 24-13 at the
break.
The LadyCats stretched
that run to 12-1 by scoring the first six points of
the third quarter, making it
30-13, Kalida, at the 7:13
mark. Both offenses
improved considerably
in that period but the
Cats racked up 11 field
goals out of 15 tries and
led 48-28 after 24 minutes.
Kalida took its biggest
lead at 50-28 with 7:46 left
in the game but the Lancers
dominated the next 3:32 with
a 14-3 run to get within 53-42
at the 4:14 mark.
It got no closer, however,
as the Cats continually broke
through the Lincolnview
press and also continued to
hit free throws.
Kalida put up some
impressive stats, hitting 56
percent (25 of 45) from the

matches.

DALLAS While Urban
Meyer was doing most of the
talking, Cardale Jones owned
the room.
Ohio States rising star
quarterback was all big grins,
silly smirks, rolling eyes
and mischievous glances
Tuesday, the day after he
helped the Buckeyes roll
Oregon 42-20 to win the
first College Football Playoff
national championship.
Jones said that hes not
ready for the NFL. But after
just three college starts, the
22-year-old, third-year sophomore is in a unique position.
Should he stay or should he
go?
Cardales brand right
now has never been stronger,
might never be stronger again
in his life, Ohio State coach
Urban Meyer said.
On the other hand, the 6-5,
250-pounder from Cleveland
is still a raw though enticing prospect.
Im amazed at the speed
and quickness he has for a
guy that weighs over 250
pounds, said former NFL
executive Gil Brandt, who
now works as an analyst
for the NFL Network. But
his passes, some are on the
money, some are low, some
are high and some are wide.
Jones is eligible for early
entry to the NFL draft because
he is at more than three years
removed from graduating
high school. The deadline for
underclassmen to declare for
the draft is Thursday.
Brandt said Jones has the
talent to be selected, probably somewhere in the back
half of the seven-round draft,
but he would be better served
developmentally by another
year playing college football.
But there is the rub: Ohio
State could have three star

next season with Jones, J.T.
Barrett and Braxton Miller.
Jones is not guaranteed to be
the starter.
Its a strange position for
Jones to find himself. Back in
August, he was the Buckeyes
third-stringer. But after
Miller hurt his shoulder in the
preseason and Barrett broke
his ankle against Michigan, it
was up to Jones to lead Ohio
State the rest of the way.
In three games against
Wisconsin (Big Ten championship), Alabama (Sugar Bowl
semifinal) and Oregon, Jones
was 46 of 75 for 742 yards
passing and five touchdowns.
I mean, its very odd,
Jones said of going from
Meyers doghouse to considering an NFL career in such
a short time. You know, Im
going to be starting three
games in three years, and you

How did the Colts make such a dramatic shift in just three
years? By getting bigger and stronger up front.
In 2012, Indy started the conversion by signing free agent
defensive end Cory Redding, drafting rookie defensive tackle
Josh Chapman, moving Robert Mathis to outside linebacker
and adding inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman from the CFL.
General manager Ryan Grigson then traded a second-round
pick to Miami for cornerback Vontae Davis, who has blossomed into a Pro Bowler.
In 2013, Grigson continued to follow the long-range plan
by singing defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois, safety LaRon

Last summer, Grigson added three more starters in free

budding pass rusher in outside linebacker Jonathan Newsome,
a fifth-round draft pick.

The Packers have succeeded in the second half of
the season in part by going
after an opponents strengths.
In a 26-21 win over
New England in November,
Rodgers threw for 368 yards,
including a 45-yard catch-andrun to Nelson. He had been
covered by top cornerback
Darrelle Revis at the time.
In the regular-season finale, Green Bay ran for 152
make the score 2-1. Another Gibson takedown ran his lead to
4-1. Another takedown and escape gave Gibson a 6-2 lead,
which he held onto for the win.
Gibson finished 2-0 for the Lancers on the evening.
Jacob, being a senior, hes been battling come injuries,
described Miller. Hes come off the injuries and came out and
wrestled hard. This is probably the best that hes wrestled all
year. Two wins are big, he did a nice job.
Dickson finished the evening 2-0 as well, with the forfeit,
and Bollinger added a win, going 1-1.
Our team is pretty young. So anytime that we get them
out on the mats (is beneficial), added Miller. Its great to see
them grow every time they wrestle. And everybody walked
away with a win tonight.
Also beneficial for the team is facing opponents who they
will see later in the season.
(The match) is going to let us see what can happen
towards the end of the season, who weve got to beat said
Miller. Bluffton is in our conference, both of these team are
in our sectional, so this is a great match for us to take a look
towards the end of the year.

DEAR LINDA: I certainly can understand how a
person can fall on hard times.
There may be someplace that
you can volunteer your time in
exchange for medical care and
living expenses, but I have not
been able to find even one.
That having been said,
your best shot is to consult the
Internet and search for this
type of activity. I wouldnt
hold out any strong hope
for an outcome of a positive
nature, but you have nothing
to lose by trying. Please let
me know how you make out.

no delay to the start of the tax season, despite the late congressional
passage of the tax extenders. The
Internal Revenue Service said it
would begin accepting electronic
returns and processing paper ones

was nothing preventing us from
continuing our updating and testing
of our systems, IRS Commissioner
John Koskinen said in a statement.
So gather up those W-2s, 1099s,
receipts and other data needed to
file; you have about three months.
The deadline remains April 15,
although extensions are possible.
If youre due a refund, however,
you might be in for a wait.
Noting that people have gotten
very used to being able to file their
return and quickly getting a refund,

Between
now
and
March 9, we will have
committees meet again
and brainstorm, meet with
committee chairs and
access what each group
needs, Metzger said.
She and Gerker discussed
the goals of the partnership
and pondered if the tasks at
hand were too daunting or
manageable.
We determined its something that will have to be
done over a period of time, a
continual process, Metzger
said with resolve.
We have to take it in
small pieces and work with
those who are willing to help
and contribute even if it is
just a conversation, Gerker
said.
Theres a lot of knowledge in Delphos and we
would love to tap into all of
it, Metzger said.
