Outcomes
The Learners can:
1. Identify angles and their measures;
2. Convert degrees into radians and vice versa;
3. Determine the arc length and the area of a sector;
Assessments
Evidences of Understanding
Explanation
1. What are angles?
2. How to convert degrees into radians and vice versa;
3. How to get the arc length and the area of a sector?
Learning Plan
A. Explore
The class will play a game titled Pass me and answer me. They will
pass the box while playing the song. As the music stops the person
who holds the box will get a question and will answer it.
Questions:
1. In the given figure determine the initial side and the terminal side.
2. What will be the direction of the angles rotation if its in positive
measurement? What about in negative measurement?
3. Draw the following amount of rotation: a. 360 b. 90 c. 180
4. Convert this degree measure into radian measure.
a.) 50
5. Convert this radian measure into degree measure.
a.) 5/6
6. The radius of a circle is 25 cm. find the length of an arc of a
subtended by a central angle 60
7. A circle of radius 9 cm has a sector whose central angle has radian
measure 1/3. Find the area of the sector.
B. Firm-up
Let the students answer the following:
1. Convert 180 into radian measure.
2. Convert 75 into radian measure.
3. Convert the following radian measures to degree measures
a.) /4
b.) 3 radians
4. Find the arc length
a. r= 4, =/4
5. find the area of the sector of a circle
a. r=4 ; =2/3

C. Deepen
On a sheet of paper answer page 160 items 3-5 and 7-10, also page
162 items 3-5
D.
Think of an object or a thing in which you can apply what have been
discussed. Draw and explain

Mathematics IV Lesson Exemplar

Topic: Angles in Standard Position and Coterminal Angles, Angles in a Quadrant and
the Reference Angle
Time Frame: 1 Session
Date:
I.

Outcomes
The learners can:
a. identify angles in standard position;
b. determine angles which are said to be conterminal;
c. determine the quadrant in which the angle lies;
d. Find the reference angle for a given angle.

II.

Assessment
Evidences of Understanding
Explanation
1. How do you determine if an angle is in standard position?
2. What are coterminal angles? How can you get the other coterminal
angles?
3. What are reference angles? How do you determine the reference
angles?
Learning Plan
A. Setting of Standards
Students will be given instructions regarding their attitude during the
class.
B. Drill
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group should have two
representatives. All they have to do is supply the missing number in
the box, so that the sum of each side must be equal to 12. Remember
that the numbers you can only fill in the square are numbers from 1-8
only.

III.

C. Explore
D. Firm-Up
Answer the following on the board:

1. Illustrate the following angles in standard position, in a rectangular

coordinate plane.
a. 450 b. 135
2. Find the smallest positive coterminal angle for each of the following:
a. -450 b. -200
3. Give the corresponding refernce angle for each of the following
angles:
a. 70
b. -200
E. Deepen
Answer the following as directed:
1. Find four other coterminal angles for each of the following angles:
a. 519
b. 684 c. 410
2. Determine the quadrants where a 225 and a -225 angles in
standard position lie.
3. Dtermine the quadrant in which the angle lies and dtermine the
reference ange.
a. -300
2. 380
F. Transfer
Determine the quadrant in which the angle lies, find its four other
coterminal angles and determine its reference angle.
