SO i got some crappy BHO from someone,

decided to try to winterize it.
so i couldnt find 99% iso or everclear so i
used 91% iso. My BHO has been sitting in
the 91% ISO since monday in a freezer.
THe wax itself hasn't fully dissolved yet so
ive just left it in there, i figure the longer
the better with the 91% ISO right? Its
been 5 days, i might pull today. Also, when
evap the iso how hot should my skillet be?

no no no. swirl the bho in the iso till dissolved. you

should swirl the bho with a SS utensil till fully dissolved.
then set in freezer for 24-48 hrs. then filter with 1-2 non
bleached coffee filters 1-2 times. then hot water bath it
at 105-110for as long as needed and use a fan to blow
on the ISO it helps evap it faster. GOOD LUCK. for more
info follow natedabs guide for the best QWISO around.
just look around and you'll find plenty of answers.

I suggest you do not try to heat concentrated iso or etoh Hash - Dry ice & bubble bag method
in a microwave. At that high % it has a low flash point. I Hash - Ice water and bubble bags method

tried it a few weeks ago in microwave and instead of

coming to a rolling boil it exploded into vapor, blew the
microwave door open, and showered me with spray.
Fortunately, there was no flame or I would be in a burn
unit. BTW, I spent 6 weeks in a burn unit 2 decades ago
with deep seconds over 50% of my body from an alcohol
explosion. Recovery takes several years. Do not play with
this stuff. I almost did it a second time.

CAUTION: NEVER SPRAY BUTANE INDOORS!

BUTANE IS HEAVIER THAN AIR AND POOLS ON
THE FLOOR. EVEN 2% CONCENTRATION CAN
CAUSE AN EXPLOSION.

You need to first dissolve the wax completely by heating

the iso that you are dissolving the wax in. Kind of like
TURN OFF & AVOID ALL ELECTRONICS AND ALL
dissolving salt in water -- it will dissolve more readily if
OTHER IGNITIONS SOURCES. READ THE SAFETY
the water is hot. Then winterize when it is fully
INFORMATION ON THE BUTANE CAN. DON'T LET
dissolved.
THE 'TANE BURN YOUR FACE OFF. IT DOES

When I evap alcohol, I use a glass pane that is heated to HAPPEN.

you should have listened to the guy telling you to use 190 proof alcohol. He made it sound "easy"
but that's because everything sounds easy when you read the instructions.

Damnit OP
First off, I wouldn't have used 91% ISO at all, ethanol is much better (190 proof grain alcohol, pretty
sure every liquor store has it) because it is not as aggressive a solvent as Isopropyl, and you don't
need such an aggressive solvent at all. Also 91% is full of water and harder to purge!
Second, you should have COMPLETELY dissolved your oil in the ISO, I usually warm the alcohol in the
microwave, then use the warm alcohol to easily dissolve the oil, all it needs is some swirls (I use a
dental tool).

Once it's fully dissolved the waxes and fats can easily be frozen and form to the bottom, where they are
easily filtered out.
When purging, keep your skillet as low as it can go for as long as it takes (going to take awhile because
you used 91%).
If you have a vac, it's much easier to purge your winterized extract with low temps.
You kind of did a lot wrong, should have read more into winterizing before attempting it. It's not a "quick
and easy" fix as people might think.

this to a t, the only thing i wanted to add was that iso was indeed the wrong choice and that
everclear should of been used, but in my state of Michigan were only legally allowed 151 proof,
(not to say we couldn't possibly order some 190 offline) but he definitely should of used the 151 at
least.
and dissolve it before it goes in the freezer! best to start your soak just as the BHO starts to finish
bubbling on your initial heat batch.

99% works fine. The difference of the alcohol doesn't matter too much, You are using it to
coagulate the mixture. And 99% will evaporate the quickest.

Winterizing requires 1 tablespoon of ethanol to every gram of oil. I doubt heating that much up
for 15 seconds in the microwave is going to make a fucking bleve, in fact I guarantee you it
won't.

dude dont listen to people talking about everclear. The fact is 190 proof is 95% alcohol the rest is water
and SUGAR!!!this will still junk your nail. the 91%,while it sucks compared to 99% has no sugar just
water so good choice.the best is a single solvent winterization but thats a horse of a different color

The whole point of winterization is to remove garbage, of course, this can be avoided by using
a quality solvent properly the first time around. The water in the 91 is crucial for purifying
garbage oils because the impurities are water soluable. Also vaccing is very overrated, and
without an expensive setup, you will lose flavor and potency. I reccomend controlled
temperature, low heat purging for a longer period of time. For the highest quality product, you

are best off blasting quality butane through clean, flushed material. Do not over blast your
material, and use a low heat purge with controlled temps and sealed to prevent water vapor or
other contaminants
