Some of our

success stories

Working with Morrisons was fantastic! It was an excellent

opportunity to experience practical pharmacy in a high-paced
working environment. The summer placement programme was
structured and provided great insight into all areas of pharmacy.
My programme tutor provided a daily outline of tasks to be
completed, key learning objectives and provided extended
reading material. I learnt so much on the placement and
developed a better understanding of a pharmacists role
and the importance of following systems.

Jermaine Omokoh
Completed vacational placement 2011-12 and starts
as a Pre-registration Trainee in 2012

Since starting a summer placement in Kilmarnock in 2009, I

knew that Morrisons was a company I really wanted to work for
and I managed to secure a much sought after pre-registration
placement. Going to Bradford to meet the Central Pharmacy
Team was a great experience and I felt that if I had any problems
I would easily be able to approach them for support.
As my training progressed I was able to complete the tasks set
by the Central Pharmacy Team, such as carrying out audits
within the pharmacy and presenting to the other students.
These were very useful to me as it improved my confidence and
helped me gather evidence for my competencies.
Having successfully completed my training I was very fortunate
in gaining a position as a relief pharmacist. It has been great
working in different stores and getting to know all the pharmacy
staff. Every day is diverse and I am always learning.
Since qualifying I have been trained to administer Flu Vaccines and
I have had the opportunity to vaccinate many of the staff and
customers. My next challenge is to complete the training to carry
out the Travel Health Service. I have enjoyed every task I have
been given so far and I really cant wait to see what is next for me!

Completed Pre-registration training 2010/2011
and started as Relief Pharmacist 2011

Morrisons Pharmacy is not just your local pharmacy. Here at

Morrisons you will find our customer range varied and have the
opportunity to offer a wide range of services such as travel
health and flu vaccinations just 2 examples of a variety of
services we offer at Morrisons. The vacational training
programme offers hands on experience and the 2 parts of the
programme are beneficial for students at any stage in their
pharmacy studies as you will have the opportunity to develop
new skills appropriate to your individual needs and level of
experience. The first part of the programme will introduce the
professional services, help you to gain customer service skills,
dispensing skills and counter prescribing skills. The second part
of the programme will help you to engage with skills gained in
previous placements. Post qualification, our Management
Development Programme will help you to flourish and learn the
management skills required to help you to progress your career.
Kajal Ruda,
Pharmacy Manager, Derby store
who wrote our vacational training material this year

I'm homegrown! I started working at Morrisons 13 years ago as

a Pre-Registration Pharmacist and I've spent my whole career
here. I've never wanted to go elsewhere, because I enjoy the
people and culture so much. Everyone is really close, it's like
we're one big family. My days are full of variety. I spend a lot
of time visiting stores, where I support teams, review working
practices and generally keep things running smoothly.
However, I also work on new store openings and I'm heavily
involved with recruitment. Sometimes I miss the patient
interaction that I had as a Pharmacist, but I still get plenty of
satisfaction from bringing the best out of our teams and finding
the right people to join us. The training and development
opportunities Morrisons offers are the best in the industry.
I mean, I never dreamed I'd get so far in 13 years! So if you're
thinking about joining us, I'd definitely recommend it.
