Create Tank2 Foundation

The process to make a Tank2(=Ball Tank) or Cylindrical Mat foundation is as below.


1. To make a new structure, first click on the "Create New Structure" icon button from icon menu.and
"Add : New Structure Name" dialog window will open and input structure name.
Cf) Open Geometry Data window to add Tank2 foundation (=Ball Tank or Cylindrical Footing)
to existing structure.

2. First, to input a geometry data, Click on the Geometry Data icon from icon menu, a Geometry
Data window will open as shown in the following figure.

3. Click on the Wizard (New) command button, Node Arrangement (Geometry) dialog window
will show.
4. Input Start Node Number., Start X, Y coordinates. Program automatically indicates Start Node
Number..Please Input Start Node Number., Start X, Y coordinates when change of Start Node
Number., Start X, Y coordinates is need.
5. Choose a Circle Array option from Array type of Nodes panel
6. Input Number of pier, Pier Circle Diameter, Start Angle of first Pier
7. To generate nodes, Click on the Add command button
8. To close Node Arrangement (Geometry) dialog window by click on the and Close command
button.
8. To close Node Arrangement (Geometry) dialog window by click on the Close command button.

9. To open Structure Group dialog window, Chick on the Assign Foundation Grouping icon form
icon menu.

10. Click New command button.
11. Input Group Name
12. Choose Tank2 from Group Type combo box
13. Choose a Non Pile Fdn option
Note) Ball Tank foundation supports only soil foundation.
Footing shape of Tank2 module is available for circle or polygon ring shape with hole.
Footing shape of Mat module supports rectangular, circle, and octagon shape.
Also, mat module also supports analysis and design of pile and soil foundation.
14. Choose nodes from Using Node List, and click > command button.
15 Click Save command button.
16.To close Structure Group, click on the Close command button.

Create Cylindrical Mat Foundation


The procedure for Mat Footing, which is Octagon shape, is as below.
Add Cylindrical Mat Foundation to existing Tank2(=Ball Tank) Foundation.
Click Geometry Data icon from Icon Menu, then Geometry Data window is shown.

1. Input Geometry of Node to make Cylindrical Mat Foundation. Click Wizard (New) command
button.
2. Node Arrangement dialog is shown. Input Start Node Number, Start X, and Y coordinates
from Base Point and Node Number Panel. Choose Circle Array Option from Array Type of Nodes
Panel. In this case, Rectangular Array Panel is deactivated.
Input Pier Number, Circle Diameter and Start Angle from Circle Array Panel, and click Add button.
3. Click Close button to close Node Arrangement dialog.
4. To open Structure Group dialog window, Chick on the Assign Foundation Grouping icon form
icon menu.

5. Click New command button.
6. Input Group Name
7. Choose Mat_Foundation from Group Type combo box
8. Choose one of Non Pile Fdn or Pile Foundation option
Footing shape of Tank2 module is available for circle or polygon ring shape with hole.

Also, mat module also supports analysis and design of pile and soil foundation.
9. Choose nodes from Using Node List, and click > command button.
10 Click Save command button.
11.To close Structure Group, click on the Close command button.

12. To change Dimension of Footing and Pier, click Feature Data icon from Icon Menu, then
Feature dialog window is shown as below.

13. Choose Soil Name to examine Bearing Capacity of Foundation. Input Soil Name from Bearing
Capacity of Soil Tab in Setting of Constants.
14. Choose an OCTAGON from Footing Shape.
15. Input Footing Name when you want to change Footing Name since program automatically input
the name.
16.Input Diameter, Footing Height, Lean concrete depth, Crushed Stone depth, Soil Height, and
Dimension from footing edge, and click Save Command button.
17. Choose Pier Tab to input Pier Dimension.
18. Choose Pier Node Number from Pier List to revise Dimension.
19. Choose Pier Shape that you want to change. Existing Pier no. 9 choose Rectangular Shape.
20. Input Length and Width of Pier.
21. Input a Pier Height.

22. Input a depth of Grout on Pier Top.
23. Eccentricity of Pier can be adjusted by using Offset X and Y Dir. AFES adjusts eccentricity by
moving Footing but location of Pier.
You can adjust a location of Pier from Geometry window.
24. Click Save after adjustment.
25. If piers have same Size and Shape, click Save as Pier, then Setting Same Size dialog window
is shown. Check a Node no. of Pier if you want to have same size. Click Check All if all piers are
same, then click Save.
26. Refer to Tank1 Manual for Setting of Strip, Anchor bolt, and Load case Input.
