What is it?

/ General concepts
DISCLAIMER: Do NOT attempt if you are an amature. You could become
physically or spiritually injured. DO NOT DABBLE! If you enter into spiritual
warfare or astral combat unprepared you could become possessed or otherwise
cause serious harm to yourself or others.
Spiritual warfare:
Spiritual warfare is a blanket term used to describe any dealings or encounters with
spiritual beings of a less than friendly nature. It includes such things as: Baptism,
deliverance, exorcism, prayer, and so on. The general spiritual warfare that we deal with
everyday could be as minor as resisting the temptation to spend money that you could
donate to charity on candy; it could also be as major as commanding an evil spirit out of a
house or out of a person... complete with power failures and projectile vomiting. Don't
get me wrong, I'm not saying to blame everything bad on demons, its just that they are
often involved in the situations that I am discussing.
In the case of baptism, sins are removed from a person, sometimes including minor
negative energy entities, and the holy spirit fills in the space left so they cannot come
back.
Deliverance is the same except that it is on a larger scale: it often happens soon after
baptism, if there are larger and more powerful demons that must be removed to make
room for the holy spirit.
An exorcism is similar to deliverance, but is not absolutely tied to baptism. It is very
much more forceful removal of evil spirits, and the subject must consent and then agree
to make life changes and/ or get baptized; otherwise the demons will come back and
bring along friends, making the original situation worse.
In prayer, we often pray against bad things happening of against the actions of demons.
We ask God to intervene on our behalf. This type of prayer, or a prayer for someone to
get well when an illness is caused by a demon is also spiritual warfare.
There are several books on spiritual warfare, if you like:
A divine revelation of spiritual warfare by Mary k. Baxter
The bondage breaker by Anderson
The spirit world by Rev. Clarence Larkin
I own these two and they are very good books if you want to do more research on it.
Specifics of types of spiritual warfare and examples of their uses
Baptism: A baptism happens when someone makes a personal commitment to change
their life for the better and accept the salvation offered to us through Jesus' sacrifice. It is
performed on new Christians and old ones alike. One might convert without being
baptised, but do it later on when they want to make a more definate commitment. It can

be done with the sprinkling of water on the forehead or being submerged in a pool or a
river. The symbolism is that we are buried with Jesus and, based on this, many believe
that it must be a full submersion to be effective. Some people *coughcatholicscough*
believe that you must be baptised to go to heaven. I believe that it is going to help, but
not absolutely needed. Since it removes sins that you could also remove by repenting for
each and every one of them, it makes the spiritual journey a much easier one.
Deliverance: As I stated before, deliverance is related to baptism. Deliverance will
happen when someone capable of performing the deliverance is present and:
A: The subject has a lot of negative energy that is not their own
B: The subject has been baptised or otherwise made a commitment against the dark side
C: The subject is possessed and has asked for the Holy Spirit in one way or another, such
as praying for a spiritual gift like tongues.
Not all of these factors need to be in effect, but at least one should be for a deliverance to
happen. One does not usually choose to be delivered as they would with an exorcism or a
baptism. It may just happen. This is because it happens when we invite the Holy Spirit
into us in one way or another, without knowing if there is space for it or not. If there is
not, then God will make the space by kicking out demonic energies. Someone qualified to
perform a deliverance will be there most of the time; because it is such a person who
assists in spiritual growth in a Christian sense, and it almost always happens at times
when we want to grow spiritually. Such a person is needed Because they can prevent the
demonic energy from attacking someone else, re-entering the subject, or otherwise
making a nuciance of itself.
Exorcism: A forced removal of spirits and/or devils, including demons and ghosts from a
living host who is possesed or otherwise being harassed by said spirits. A good case is
seen in the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". That movie is based on a true story, and
well put together. In the ritual itself, a priest or other qualified person will read scripture,
pray, and speak to the spirit to be exorcised. Holy water, anointing oil, and religous
talismans and symbols will be used. The exorcist will command the spirit out of the
subject, and God willing, it will leave. Any observers will become potential targets for the
spirit's wrath if they have not been blessed and/or annointed in advance. When the spirit
comes out, a physical reaction will happen. For example, the subject may scream or cry
and the spirit come out with the tears or sound. Vomiting the spirit out is not uncommon
as well. The spirit, now angry, must be sent away; removed from this world back to it's
own. A second stage of exorcism is performed, where the spirit is commanded out of our
world. Failing this, it is usually possible to command it from the house or property, and
bind it from harming the subject ever again. This indirectly brings me to another form of
exorcism, in wich the second stage is the only one performed. It is a casting out of evil
spirits from a home or property. There is no possession of a person in these cases. It most
closely resembles a mild to severe haunting by evil spirits, and is actually easier to
perform than a body exorcism. As I mentioned before, you need to be possessed to have
an exorcism. There are more ways to become possessed than most people realise. Here
are some examples: In voodoo ritualls, the participants deliberately allow themseves to
become possessed; Any form of channeling allows a person to become possessed,
because the spirit must enter you for it to work, and there is no guarantee that it will leave

afterwords; ouija or spirit boards are a form of channeling, and participants regularly
become possessed; Tarot can cause possession in certain cases (please do not jump my
case for this, its actually a rare one, but it DOES happen); Practicing any witchcraft,
druidic, wiccan, new age, pagan, or satanic religons can attract unwanted spiritual
attention as well (I am not trying to disrespect those of you who may be a part of these
faiths, and I am sorry if I have, so if you question me on this please keep it nice and polite
or pm me).
Astral combat:
This refers to actually fighting evil spirits on their own plane of existence. It can happen
while meditating in a dream like state, while asleep, or otherwise astral projecting or
having an out of body experience. There are several types of astral combat, and I will try
to cover them all. feel free to post any questions or even pm me.
Energy contests:
An energy contest can happen between humans or human vs spirit. It involves focusing
your energy to overcome your opponent. If you can focus the energy of your own soul
and aura, you can then project that energy and attempt to engulf an enemy in it. In these
contests whomever has the strongest combination of energy, knowledge, and force of will
is most likely to win. Keep in mind that since spirits live astrally 24/7 they always have a
greater knowledge with extremely few minor exceptions.
Projected weapon:
This works similarly to the energy contest, but the combatants form their spirit energy
into weapons and weapon-like forms and battle each other after the fashion of the
physical world. Energy, knowledge, and force of will are again the main determining
factors, but skill plays a larger role than it does in a basic energy contest. Typical
weapons are swords and dagger-like bladed weapons.
Realistic battles:
These appear to be normal battles as one would have in the physical realm, with some
dream-like qualities to it. It takes place in a pocket dimension in the spirit world that is
constructed by thoughts, emotions and memories of the combatants. It could appear to be
in any time frame, but in my experience medieval settings are most common. Opponents
look human, though they are often spirits. In fact it is very rare for two human souls to
battle this way. These can be so realistic, that upon waking, one might suffer physical
symptoms similar to those experienced during a panic attack: rapid pulse, irrational fear,
shaking, inability to speak, and others. These are almost always temporary; in fact, I have
only heard of one case where permanent physical damage was done.
Supernatural battles:
These can appear almost exactly the same and have the same effects as the realistic
battles. The difference is that there are more than just minor dream-like qualities to it.
Spirits may appear in their true forms, one might battle against monsters. Otherworldly
weapons may be involved. These can be extremely strange, scary, and possibly
dangerous. It is the most dangerous form of astral combat; for example, a demon in its

true form could cause lasting damage; damage it would not do if it was in a realistic
battle in human form. You could expect to fight shadow monsters, wizards, dragons, or
any number of other bizzare and deadly creatures here. AVOID if at all possible. If you
realize you are in an astral battle, you can easily flee to your body. Its just like waking up
from a lucid dream.
Specifics of types of astral combat and examples of their uses
Energy contests: These are very basic and happen all the time. Ever fight off an urge to
do something you would not normally do? If so then you have fought and won an energy
contest. It helps to picture your own energy aura, then try to find the energy trying to get
through it. Picture how your aura moves, and try to see the opposing one if you can. You
can, by concentrating, control how your aura moves, and focus it upon the area being
attacked. Concetrate your aura in any weak points. It will seem to become thicker or
darker, less likely to let anything in. Shielding will be exceptionally useful in this battle,
so use it if you know how. (A shielding tutorial will be coming soon after this one). Once
you determine where the attack is coming from, focus your aura in that direction, sending
your energy to overcome it. If the other combatant does not give up and leave, your
energy will strike it, causing it to weaken until it is forced away. Maintaining
concentration is a key factor in successful energy contests.
Projected weapon: As I stated above, this is almost the same as an energy contest. A key
difference is that it happens astrally or in a meditative state more often than not. You will
often see your opponent, and even seem to fight them as you might fight someone in the
physical realm. The weapons used will be spiritual ones. Often, energy balls will be used
as weapons, and shielding can be key to success. Someone's spiritual weapon will likely
be the same color as their aura, and translucent (like a lightsaber). This is almost always
going to be a one on one battle. There can be physical reactions to the battle, such as
shaking; or flinching as if physically hit. There will be no physical damage from the
battle, unless a twitch of the body causes you to strike an object in the physical.
I hope this helps (and is in the right sub-forum).

I was very much into this astral combat when I was in my early teens, though most of my
opponents seemed to be spiritual byproducts of those around me, and I was forever
designing new weapons to use on them. Although in one dream I had, there was a spirit
of a man who appeared to have a very negative nature, so I tried to remove him. The
'weapon' I used most commonly back then was a large spiked vice, and was used within
the essence of the spirit or whatever, and this always caused the most harm.
I hadn't actually ever 'killed' a spirit before this, but had only just pushed them out of
whatever plane I happened to be in. Though with this man I recall being in a very mean
mindset, with an aim to harm and cause pain as much as possible, so I gripped his
essence as tightly as possible and squeezed. Having a delightedly malicious manner
before, he suddenly changed to a forlorn and half-crying creature I felt horrified at even
approaching with a mind to remove. I particularly remember him saying something like,
'please don't,' but I just went ahead and he just sort of popped, leaving a definite sense of
'empty'.
(I am ALWAYS in the back of my mind doubtful of whether things actually happen
spiritually, but after this I just felt sick and horrible. Take this post with a grain of salt, it's
just something that stood out in my mind from my recollections of spiritual adventures.
Badly worded, too!) -_-

Interesting.
I was with you, until you got to astral travel. I have some difficulties with this because i
could construct exactly the same scenarios from my own life and yet i know they would
be creations of my self.
I have had many different psychic adventures/experiencesover my life time. Certainly
obe is one form which can be verified through independent witnesses and research as
actually happening. But astral travel i find difficulty with.
I admit this difficulty grows from my own experience. From very early childhood, i
constructed increasingly complex lucid dream scapes of many shapes and forms. These
were often sequential, populated by regular characters, and as real as the actual world i
occupied.
However, i knew and understood that what i was constructing was a construct created
through the power of linking my conscious will to my subconscious mind. For example,

your mind is capable of creating a weapon powerful enough to defeat anything thrown
against it, and armour which will do the same. It only has to recognise both consciously
and subconsciously that this is true.
I read books about astral/spirit warriors and i constructed all the scenarios you talk about
in my own mind, and played them out regularly each night
However i also constructed ; batttle dragons, llght sail ships ,pocket universes populated
first by intelligent animals and later by beautiful but less intelligent women, and a host of
other scenarios based on extensive reading and the very first television programmes.
Whether irts rea,l or controlled lucid dreaming, im not knocking it. I have the most fun of
my life in all these scenarios and with no physical risk. I never encountered anything like
it in the waking world, until i started playing wow at the age of 56. This is the closest
approximation to the worlds i created in my mind/dreams , that i have ever come across.
it even has talking animals , portals between the pocket universes and many of the other
features i built into my dreams from the late 1950's onwards.
I still do some of the lucid dreaming ,but it becomes more difficult as the ego becomes
more established, and as the mundane reality of the "real" world forces itself upon your
waking consciousness. Until i was well into my teenage years, my dream life, while a
lot more interesting, was indistiguishable in quality/reality from my waking life. While
the quality of my dreams remains very realistic, i am now fully aware of what they are,
and the mechanisms by which i create and control them.
Thus, personaly, i know that my mind is capable of self creating all the things you talk
about. Doubtless there are other people who can do the same.
This does not mean that I completely disbelieve ,or deny, the reality of which you speak,
it is just that my personal experience has made me a little more skeptical of this
particular form of psychic ability.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to
be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it
should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your
labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world..
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

You had a battle with a shaman, thoes are very power beings, with shape shifting
abilities.... I've been visited a few times from one of these shaman's, he handed me a
snake that bit me and according to native spirituality being bit by a snake in a dream is
being infused with wisdom...
Welcome to Issue nine of Astral 101. Just in case anyone was wondering, I am still
posting weekly on Saturdays. I apologize for my recent inconsistencies; my life has
gotten a little hectic in the last couple weeks. Things are beginning to settle down, so I
plan to get back on track. This week we will be introducing the segment called Spiritual
Warfare, covering the basic hostile situations in the astral realm and how to deal with
them. The astral realm is a wonderful, awe-inspiring place, but as stated in the last few
articles, not everything you come across will be there to help you. Some beings have
their own agenda that might conflict with yours, and I want to equip you with the tools
you need to deal with these sorts of situations. Being in several of these conflicts, I can
tell you first hand that it is no joke. It is not a game. Some situations can lead to serious
spiritual and mental harm to you or another. But dont worry, I will teach you how to
always react in a way that will keep yourself protected as well as those around you. Now,
onto our lucid lesson:

Lucid Lesson

As it is very clear now how to become lucid in a dream, I believe that people are still
having trouble with how to maintain the dream. For beginners, the idea at this point
should be to remain lucid for as long as possible while learning to control the focus of the
dream. This lucid lesson will be emphasizing this with 4 prolonging lucid tips. These
tips, once again, are from Robert Waggoners Lucid Dreaming (the book is amazing,
please go purchase it), with some of my commentary.
1.

Stay focused on lucid awareness. Dont let yourself get caught up in the lucid
dream, or else you will go back to regular dreaming, possibly even hindering your
ability to remember when you were lucid. Repeatedly reminding yourself of your
lucidity will prolong the lucid dream.
2.
Develop a calming practice. Weve already talked about looking at your hands to
calm you down when something perceived is very stimulating. You can do whatever

you want that will help you calm down; look at the floor, sit down, whatever works for
you.
3.
Place emotional issues to the dreams end. A couple nights ago, I began to lucid
dream and didnt know where to start. I

knew at some point I wanted to fly into

space, but I knew this would be an exciting and unstable task in the lucid dream, so I
waited until I was done with everything else I wanted to try before doing so. I only
got past the clouds before the dream collapsed and I woke up.
4.
Handle recurring emotions. Sometimes, a lucid dream will present a recurring
desire or fear at the beginning of the dream. Dont try to ignore it, as it will split your
focus. With this situation, dealing with a recurring situation that may end the dream
may allow you to move forward in your future lucid dreams.
The next lucid lesson will contain 7 more tips on maintaining the dream through
manipulating your awareness. For now I want to move on to the main topic, as it is a big
one.

Astral Combat

Spiritual Warfare is a broad term that encompasses many things. I have already begun
teaching you this in Exploring Without Fear, as grounding, shielding, and filtering are a
form of defensive spiritual warfare. A more passive form of this can be just fighting
every day temptations, as these can be energies attempting to take control of you. This
segment will be all about the more offensive form of spiritual warfare known as astral
combat. Astral Combat is the offensive removal of unwanted entities through use of
energy and vibration. Do not misunderstand my use of the term offensive, as I do not

wish for anyone to go out trying to slay negative entities. These techniques should only
be used in self defense and only when ones space has been intruded upon. Much like the
way of the Aikido martial art, the idea is not to defeat an enemy, but to overcome fear and
hatred with love. In fact, Astral Combat is essentially the spiritual martial art, and
requires some practise. Now, lets begin.

Types of Astral Combat

Energy Contests
An energy contest is the most common form of astral combat where entities will attempt
to focus and overcome their opponents with just energy. This does not need to be fought
in astral, and can be fought by pulsing or projecting your energy.
Astral Body
These can be fought in either bi-location via meditation or full astral projection. Those
involved use thought forms to make their energy into some form of astral utility, armour,
or weapon. We do this because humans understand the use of weapons for self-defense,
and that intent translates directly through thought into the astral realm.
Dreamspace/Innerspace
A battle fought with a negative entity in the internal dreamspace can be a way to cleanse
yourself. Nightmares can also be caused by negative beings, and learning to become
lucid can allow us to fight them back in a similar way to the astral body form of combat.

In the dream, everything is constructed from the dreamer and entities thoughts, emotions
and memories. The environment will reflect them, and will frequently change.

All of these will be discussed throughout the segment with the basics of what to do in
each situation. Now, lets discuss something that is prevalent in all forms of astral
combat.

Elements
The elements are the types of vibrations or energies that can be worked with in the astral
realm. They possess similar attributes to those in our physical reality, but arent exactly
the same. All of these elements have a form of movement which must be emulated in the
astral realm to evoke them. The main elements include Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light
(Ether), and Darkness (Void). People will have affinities to certain elements more than
others, and this can sometimes be defined by astrology or the person may just feel in tune
with a certain elements.
Fire
This is the most violent, passionate and spontaneous element of all. It is destructive, but
only when seen as so. It can also be seen as a purging element, taking away
imperfections. Its properties allow it to pierce through barriers the easiest. If
controlled, it can increase energy capacity, cast away illusions, and reveal intent. Fires
real purpose is to make pure. Its movement is like tai chi on crack. When invoking this
sort of energy, one must move gracefully but forcefully, directing the flow of the fire in a
manner that grazes the target, not engulfs them. Exhaling is the key in using this energy.
At the beginning it will feel unstable and will seem to lose power quickly, but learning

how to prolong this energy is through recognizing the correct flow. Also, this video
seems to imply that it can be applied in physical reality as well.

Water
Water is the most emotional of all the elements. It is very versatile in the sense that it can
be used for everything. It can be like a quiet stream or a raging tsunami. It can heal by
diluting and separating negative energies. Its more protective or forceful applications
work by using pressure. The most productive use of this element is to overwhelm the
target. Its movement is very wave like, large pauses or inhales, large projections or
exhales. The man in this video does a great interpretation of what it might look like in
reference to the show Avatar: The Last Airbender. The key to this element is to never
stop moving and to keep the flow very repetitive. It is not the fastest, but if used
correctly, it is one of the strongest elements. It requires a lot of emotional control to be
very effective, and if used in conjunction with other energies, it can create amplifying
effects (as water is a crystalline structure).

Wind
This is not an element that can be controlled, only directed. The astral winds that one
creates are very reflective of the thoughts and intentions one has. Like water, it applies
pressure to a target and can overwhelm them, although thats not its best use. Wind can
be used to create sound-based techniques (which have a variety of effects and will be
talked about later), and to travel/communicate faster and more efficiently on the astral
plane. This element requires the mind to be focussed for it to be directed correctly, but its
general use calms the mind anyway. An astral wind can clear a miasma, which is an
astral mist that restricts perception and movement. Also, sending well focussed windbased energy to someone else can calm their minds. Winds movement would be the
martial art of Bagua, or Circle Walking. I cant seem to find a good video of it, so youll
have to search for yourselves.

Earth
Earth is not necessarily relative to a planet, but rather to solid matter and also nature. It
has the most weight and is the most stable. It represents strength and growth. It is very
protective, but can be used in an offensive way. It absorbs and can redirect energy easily.
Its form of movement is similar to Aikido, as the user is always stable and strong while
theyre enemy gets flipped around while trying to attack at every angle. Earth can also

move in a shaking manor, like an earthquake. The phrase the best offense is a good
defense heavily applies here.

Light
Different from the other forms of energy, light has no weight and is infinitely fast. Light,

or Ether, is the fabric of everything, life

force, prana, chi, or qi. It can move in a completely straight manner like a beam, like
lightning, or in an all directional explosion like a super nova. Pure light is not restricted
to any dimension, it can freely travel through everything, but coming from us, it is
restricted to the dimension it is projected in. The power of this element is solely reliant
on light quotient, the capacity for unconditional love. Its sole goal is to compassionately
raise vibration around it, which can be used for healing, communication, defense, or
offense. It is the best healer, but has no specialization for offense and defense. It works
well with every other element, as light is vibration and is within everything, but
immediately dispels darkness. The form of movement used is a simple opening up
gesture. This represents acceptance, truth and love, everything Light stands for.

Void
Darkness is the complete absence of vibration. In fact, when void is put in a normal
space, it acts like a black hole or vacuum, trying to consume everything into it. Void
would be known as dimension zero, as it has no form of movement. We cannot produce
pure void, be we can produce that gravitational quality that void has. Ill be honest, Im
not entirely sure how to do this, but I have experienced it from the receiving end. The
only thing that can truly overcome it in its entirety is light (if the light quotient is high
enough). When faced with an entity who uses this, they will most likely have other
elemental attributes, so using a normal element infused with light should do the trick.

Nothing here requires any physical movement; it is all mental

and astral body movement. I understand that no one has any idea how to really do any of
this yet, but Im just introducing the basic necessities of it. Refer back to this article after
Ive posted more about how one applies all of this. Thank you for reading, and Ill see
you next week. Namaste!
since there are some runeworkers here: how many of you have worked the runes only as
energy and information/patterns?
meaning no materia, no invocations/spirit work, and even no ritual, but only tuning and
tapping in to the specific runic morphic fields, energies, frequencies, and doing so on the
fly, and instantly?
or like shapeshifting into the energy of the rune, or using them for instant quantum
shifts/reality repatterning and stuff like this?

Michael Tempest for those inclined to do so, check this out:
install a NLP-style panel, with switches, and sliders. one for each rune.
also master "power"-switch, and if you like some add ons, like "synchronize",
"synergize", "auto-intensity" and stuff like this, and allow deep mind to fill in the details.
if this makes sense.
then, just flip on/switch on one of the runes and tune in and tap in to their morphic
fields/frequencies. like switch "on" fehu, and slider up until you feel it. then keep going.
or channel the energy in some way, like into a spell. works better with much chi in the
system.
later on, try combos. self-attuning to runes for sure amplfies this. its like making music
with runic frequencies. by using direct morphic resonance without need for further
symbols.

Michael Tempest can be done in specific locations. like knowing/intending to switch on
more physical or manifestation based runes in lower chakras or lower dantien, and then
resonating from there, or keeping them "on" for some time to get vibrational resoance
patterns going. adding emotional intensity, and tuning in to the feeling tone and emotion
of the rune, is game changer for sure, and amps it all up.
this is experimental, i am not a rune expert, but will be soon, if i decide so, since they
seem to float around in my blood. let me know if anyone tries this, please, and report how
it works. i like effects so far, like switching on fehu and uruz to complement each other,
and letting them vibrate my fields, and thereby shifting reality by specifically aligning
with them.

Kara Backlund That is pretty much how I was taught to use them by my mentor. I've been
practicing for 5 years. It's the only magic I've ever done. I've never used an altar or
materia, and rarely cast a circle. Not just visualizing or thinking them, but chanting them
is important/helpful. They have a vibratory signature. Like how the universe is made of
vibrations, when you make the sound of the thing, you can make the thing itself.

Christopher Lung I usually chant the runes daily. Often the entire futhorc. I find that the
word "runa" is also a good way to attune with all of them all at once. IT's my preferred
alignment method before I do a reading with them.
IMHO just because you don't have special tools, an altar, incense and candles, doesn't
mean it's not a ritual, so it confuses when you say no ritual. A true no ritual is the empty
handed gesture, when will alone manifests without need to engage in some kind of
practice, focus, visualization or really anything at all, so I didn't quite answer this post
until I read the last two posters statements.
I've also chanted the futhorc through the major centers of the crown, heart and core. The
triple rings that it created rocked my socks.
My current favorite chanting and creating a runic gyroscope, with each band being a
different aettir, or if you have ever read The Invisibles, like the book writing immersion
tech used by Ragged Robin, being immersed in field of flowing futhorc that moves
through and around me, which I work to guide into the forms and directions I desire.
