From the Desk of Fr. Underwood:

Scout Sunday: Today is Boy Scout & Cub
Scout Sunday. Thank you to our Scout leaders,
parents, and youth for participating in the Scouts.
The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nations
largest and most prominent values-based youth
development organizations. They provide a
program for young people that builds character,
trains them in the responsibilities of participating
citizenship, and develops personal fitness. The
Scouts also enable a Catholic component that supplements our faith
development here at St. Lawrence through specific awards. Today, we
pray for and congratulate our Scouts.
FINAL REPORT: Wine, Cheese, Art and Everything Chocolate This
fundraiser that we held January 17th drew a crowd of 175 people from the
Lafayette area. We had a wonderful time and raised $21,279.89 to help
with some improvements to our existing buildings on campus. From the
proceeds, we will be able to replace a furnace in the school, do some
security upgrades, and get our automated bell system fixed.
Thank you to everyone who helped by making food, donating beer,
contributing art, preparing mailings, decorating, playing beautiful music,
and working the event. Many people helped to make this a success.
And, thank you to our generous donors. If you were unable to attend and
would like to make a donation to this fundraiser its not too late!
Please send your check to the parish office and mark it January
Fundraiser or Bell System.
The Bells of St. Lawrence: A few people have noticed that the bells have
not been chiming in the bell tower at Church. Since last November, the
computerized bell system has been inoperable. Recently, a technician
from Verdin Bell Company was here and declared that the main
computerized controller was DEAD. It has served us well and lived past
normal life expectancy. A new system and amplifier is needed and will
cost around $7,200. Fortunately, about half of that money was raised at
our fundraiser. If you would like to contribute towards the rest, please
mark your checks as January Fundraiser or Bell System. Hopefully
this will be up and running soon.
A Day in the Vineyard: Southwest Michigan Wine Tour with
Fr. Underwood On June 6, 2015, we will be taking a bus trip to
Southwest Michigan for lunch and tours of 4 wineries. The bus will leave
at 8:30am and return around 8:30pm. The cost is $150 per person and
includes a very good lunch at Tabor Hill Winery, Executive Coach
Transportation, Wine Tasting Fees, Etched Logo Glasses, Chocolate and
Cheese Pairing, and an unforgettable experience!

Violet Cors

There are only 30 spaces available on this trip and 10 have already been
reserved (at Wine, Cheese, Art, and Everything Chocolate). Sign up at the
parish office now to save your place. Payment is required to reserve your
space and all participants must be 21 or older. It will be a wonderful time!

THE FAMILY THAT WORKS, PRAYS AND PLAYS TOGETHER

Join Fr. Duquaine starting on February 17th in the

parish hall, as we begin a 33-day preparation for
Marian Consecration. The program follows the
Marian insights of St. Louis de Montfort,
St. Maximilian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa,
and St. John Paul II. They'll teach us the secrets
to drawing closer to the Heart of Jesus through
the Heart of Mary.
In our weekly meetings, Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm,
we'll share our insights within our small groups
and then watch a 30-minute video by popular
author and speaker, Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC.
The Consecration to Mary will happen
March 25th, the Solemnity of the Annunciation,
after the 6:30pm evening Mass.
The cost is $30 for the materials. Register no
later than February 13 at the St. Lawrence Parish
Office at (765) 742-2107.

National Marriage Week (Feb. 7-14) is a great time to celebrate the blessing of marriage
to our world and to our Church. The celebration of National Marriage Week in the
United States began in 2002 and grew out of Marriage Week International. World
Marriage Day, held the second Sunday of February each year, was started in 1983 by
Worldwide Marriage Encounter. This annual observance encourages groups to strengthen individual marriages
and build a stronger marriage culture which in turn helps lessen poverty and benefits children.
We will be marking the week with a blessing at all the weekend Masses, February 7 & 8. Plan now to attend
Mass with your spouse next weekend.
Other ideas to help you celebrate National Marriage Week are listed below:
Visit www.foryourmarriage.org, www.portumatrimonio.org and
www.marriage:uniqueforareason.org recommended by the United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops (USCCB).
The website for National Marriage Week offers ideas for building up your own marriage,
recommended reading, supporting marriage in community and more.
Spend a little time dedicated to prayer and reflection by participating in a seven-day virtual retreat
focused on marriage (www.foryourmarriage.org).
Plan to participate in our upcoming marriage enrichment series: Six Dates for Catholic Couples
beginning in March. Watch the bulletin for more details.

Marriage Moments(Ground Hog Day) In the spirit of
the groundhog, develop your shadow side today. If
you're shy, make an overture to someone in need. If
you're not very affectionate, give your spouse an
unexpected kiss or hug. If you're a work-a-holic, take
some time off to play together. You get the idea.

Parenting Pointer February is Black History Month.

No matter what our skin color, religion, or economic
