visit them.
I met a very interesting woman the other day. She said that her name was Vera and that

JACK BENSON AND THE ASSISTANT MANAGER.
When Jack Benson got up the next morning, he went downstairs to the reception desk and asked to speak to the
manager. The assistant manager came out of his office, introduced himself, and asked what he could do for Benson.
Jack replied that he wanted to complain about the noise outside his bedroom door during the night: it had lasted for
two hours and had interrupted his sleep.
The assistant manager apologized for the noise, and explained that the hotel had had to do some maintenance work on
the lift. Jack suggested at maintenance work should be done in the morning or afternoon, but definitely not at night.

The assistant manager agreed that this was rather unusual, and apologized again. He offered alternative
accommodation in the hotel, but Jack refused this, saying that he would he happy if the noise didnt happen again.

10. Andrew had a frightening experience recently while on holiday. He was out walking in the
countryside when suddenly he was surrounded by a group of soldiers.
Here are the questions which one of the soldiers asked Andrew.

I was about seven miles from the youth hostel in the middle of nowhere when suddenly a jeep roared up to me and I

which was something that he had been planning to do for a long time. He said that when he got back he would go
straight to work again.
