Not in Our House

Its not often you see a running clock with a Class B team
beating up on a Class A team, but such was the case this past
Friday night as Glasgow hosted Glendive. Not only did the
Scotty offense dazzle the crowd, their defense was relentless
as Jason Thibault (#5) rejects the shot on a rare Red Devil fast
break being swarmed by Jake Page (#15), Gage Legare (#3)
and Jake Kolstad (#25). The Scotties would go on to win 67-30.
The 13-1 Scotsmen have outscored their opponents 892 (63.7

points per game average) - 531 (37.9 ppg). Malta is the only team
to score 60 points against Glasgow. Sidneys 53-50 victory on
January 22nd was the second highest offensive output against
the Scots who host Harlem in a huge conference match-up this
Friday night. The Wildcats are on a five-game winning streak
over Poplar, Plentywood, Wolf Point, Rocky Boy and Cut Bank.
Friday nights game will be one of two left to play at home, so
pack the stands for some high-octane entertainment.

Sorry, Charlie....

Worst call in Super Bowl history?

Why did the Seahawks throw the #%!%# ball???
With 26 seconds left in regulation and Marshawn
Lynch and the No. 1 rushing offense in tow, Seattle
cooked up a crazy play call to throw the ball on the
1-yard line on second down.
It was picked off by New England and the Patriots
would win Super Bowl XLIX. If Charlie Maag was
the groundhog, he wouldnt have even come out
of his burrow this morning. Guess that the NFC
Championship hat he received in the mail last week is
all hell have to remember the Seahawks sensational
playoff run from this 2014-15 season.

That was the worst play call Ive seen in the history
of football, was a twitter from Emmitt Smith.
In overnight ratings, the right down to the lastminute, nail-biting, heart-stopping drama of Super
Bowl XLIX drew a 49.7/72 for NBC and the NFL. Thats
the highest overnight rating in Super Bowl history and
a 4% rise from last years 47.6/70 metered market result
when Seattle won their first Super Bowl so far with a
43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos.
As close as it was in terms of the score, last nights
Patriots v Seahawks matchup was not the closest Super
Bowl spread in recent years that distinction goes to
the 34-31 result of the 2013 Baltimore Ravens and San
Francisco 49ers game. Last nights game is the fourth
Super Bowl the Patriots have won this century with
victories in 2002, 2004, 2005 and now 2015.

The Hi-Line Gobblers ninth annual fundraising
banquet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, at the St.
Raphaels Parish Center gymnasium on Glasgows
north side.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and a prime rib dinner
catered by the VFW and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary
will follow at 6:00.
The annual banquet presented by the local
chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation
is the premiere upland bird event of the year in
northeastern Montana. A wide variety of wildlife art,
wildlife-themed home furnishings and dcor, and
over two dozen firearms will be auctioned or raffled
at the event, all to raise funds to support wildlife
conservation along the Hi-Line and upland bird
habitat across Montana.
The NWTF, both nationally and locally, is
committed to wildlife habitat, beginning hunters
of any age, and ensuring that recreational access
remains accessible.

All dinner tickets include an annual membership
in the NWTF. Single tickets cost $55, couples tickets
$75, and youth tickets cost $20. Or you can buy a
sponsor couples ticket for $300. Sponsor tables for 8
cost $1,000.

In addition to a wide variety of hunting guns, the
NWTF will auction or raffle a number of handguns,
tactical firearms, and even airguns for the youngest
members.

For the second year, a special gun will be raffled
to raise funds for the annual Barb Marsh Memorial
Scholarship. The late Barb Marsh and her partner
Joe Younkin have been supporters of the Hi-Line
Gobblers from the groups inception, and proceeds
from the firearm funds an annual scholarship to a
college-bound Valley County student.
In all, more than 25 guns will be available at the
banquet. This is the 9th annual fundraising banquet
for the Hi-Line Gobblers, a volunteer conservation
organization committed to improving habitat for
turkeys and other upland game birds, opening
hunting access, and promoting 2nd Amendment
rights and our hunting heritage.
The early-bird deadline for ticket purchases is
Feb. 14. Tickets may be available at the door, but to
ensure a spot, reserve advance tickets from any HiLine Gobblers committee member.

Punxsutawney Phil says six more weeks of winter coming

Weather forecasters once again ceded the stage
Monday morning to a furrier expert: a groundhog
named Phil.

Thats because February 2nd is the 129th official
Groundhog Day. This time Punxsutawney Phil left
his cozy burrow in Pennsylvanias Gobblers Knob
near Pittsburgh, saw his shadow, and broke the news
that were doomed to another six weeks of winter
rather than treated to an early spring.
Every Bill Murray
fan knows the basics: if
Phil sees his shadow, six
more weeks of winter
are in store.
Of course, if Phil
had stuck his nose out
here in eastern Montana
this morning, he wouldnt have seen his shadow.
So hopefully its the East Coast stuck with six more
weeks of winter and not us. Here are 6 facts you
might not know about Groundhog Day.
1. Legend has it that Punxsutawney Phil
communicates his yearly forecast in the language
grondhogese to the head of whats known as
the Groundhog Clubs Inner Circle, who just
so happens to be fluent in the ancient, animal
tongue. The Inner Circle members actually
decide ahead of time.
2. Phil has a sassy side. During prohibition, the
groundhog threatened 60 more weeks of winter
unless Punxsutawney finally let him have a
drink.
3. Groundhog Day is a formal affair. Beginning
in the 1960s, Inner Circle President Sam Light
decreed that officiants needed to dress in top
hats and tuxedos to show appropriate deference
to the beloved marmot.
4. The tradition has ancient roots. The National

Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says

Groundhogs Days origins are linked to ancient
European weather lore, in which a badger or
sacred bear made the prediction.
5. Even though groundhogs tend to live between
six and eight years, Punxsutawney Phil is
depicted as immortal. A version of him has made
predictions since the first trek to Gobblers Hill
in 1887by drinking the elixir of life every
summer, as groundhog lore tells it.
6. While Stormfax says Phil has only been right
39% of the time, the Punxsutawney Groundhog
Club says he has 100% accuracy.

The federal and state and local

The American Petroleum Institute

The federal gasoline tax is the

with California-specific fuel-blending

these taxes help make Golden State

Several other states, such as New
