A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics

(Third Year)

1. Targets:

At the end of the 60 minutes session with 85% of proficiency level each student.

1.1 Applies the formula for the measurement of the area of a triangle.
1.2 Solves problem about the area of the triangle.
1.3 Works with accuracy and alternates in computation.

2. Learning Tasks:

2.1 Unit: Triangle Congruence

2.2 Topic: Area of Triangle
2.3 Concepts: In finding the area of the triangle, you must multiply the base and

In group 1
In group 2
In group 3
In group 4

3.1.3 Checking of Assignment

Class, put your assignment no.7 on the assignment box and I will
be the one to check it.
3.1.4 Drill

Division and Multiplication

20 ÷ 10 = 2
75 ÷ 15 = 5
55 ÷ 11 = 5
24 ÷ 60 = 4

12 x 12 = 144
35 x 13 = 455
17 x 24 = 408
16 x 18 = 188

3.2 Preparatory Activities

3.2.1 Motivation
I have here a video presentation
for you to analyze
(video clip) (The video will be presented in class)

3.3 Lesson Proper

Teacher’s Activity Student Activity

3.3.1 Presentation

3.3.1.1 Guide Questions

1. What is triangle?
2. What are the parts of triangle?
3 What is the formula in finding
the area of triangle?

3.3.1.2Standards for viewing

Before we watch the video, here are

some guidelines that we must observe
while viewing.
1. Sit properly.
2. Watch the presentation silently.
3. Take down notes or important key
points.
4. Keep your cell phones silent.
5. Watch the presentation with
understanding.
3.3.1.3 Viewing

3.3.2 Comparison and Abstraction

Let us answer the guide questions.

What is a triangle? A triangle is a plane figure formed by
connecting three points not in a straight
line. It is a three sided polygon.
What are the parts of the triangle? The parts of the triangle are side, angle,
and vertices.
What is the formula in finding the
area of a triangle? The formula in finding the area of a
triangle is A=1/2bh.
Let us have an example:
Find the area of the triangle ABC.

4 cm
A=½bh
= ½ (12cm)(4cm)
12 cm =24cm2
Here is another example,

15 cm 4cm

A=½bh
=1/2(8cm)(4cm)
K 8cm Y =16cm2

Now , try this,

A B

A=½bh
h=3.2 cm = ½ (6cm)(3.2cm)
= 9.6cm2

D b=6cm C

Another example is,

A=½bh
= (3cm)(9cm)
h= 9cm =13.5cm2

b= 3 cm
3.3.3 Application

Now let us find the area of triangle.

1. b= 5cm, h= 10cm A = ½ (5)(10)

=25 cm2
2. b= 2cm, h= 6cm A = ½ (2)(6)
= 6 cm2
3. b= 8cm, h= 5cm A = ½ (8)(5)
= 20 cm2
4. b= 7cm, h= 4cm A = ½ (7)(4)
= 14 cm2

3.3.4 Generalization

What have you learned today? To find the area of the triangle,
multiply the base to the height and divide
it by two.
You have learned a lot.

4. Evaluation:

Get ½ sheet of paper and find the

area of triangle.

1. b=6cm, h= 7cm = 21 cm2

2. b= 4cm, h=3cm =6 cm2

3. b= 2cm, h=10cm = 10 cm2

4. b= 5cm, h=11cm =27.5 cm2

5. b= 8cm, h= 5cm =20 cm2

5. Assignment:

A. Find the area of triangle (for those who got 3-5)

10cm
1. 2. 3.

3cm 8cm 12cm

12cm 5cm 6.4cm

B. Find the area o triangle (for those who got 0-2)

1. b= 10cm, h= 2 cm
2. b= 5cm, h= 4cm
3. b= 7cm, h= 6cm
