I was prompted to apply to ThedaCare because of the outstanding

reputation this facility holds, which I have learned not only through
personal research I have conducted, but also have learned first-hand
from current employees, as well as previous employees. I am sure I
would make an excellent addition to a hospital that provides top-notch,
quality care, as well as high skilled, quality workers. I believe in the
mission, vision, and values of the hospital, and believe I would do a
great job upholding and bringing this to life as I care for my patients.

believe the learning center will make my transition from student to
Registered Nurse smooth, and successful.

Edgewood School of Nursing is a school in Madison, Wisconsin, which
upholds a very professional, and high standing reputation. Through the
experiences provided by Edgewood I have had opportunities and
experiences working in med/surg, mental health, rehabilitation,
obstetrics, pediatrics, palliative care, and community health. Because
of my various clinical experiences throughout nursing school, I believe I
am aware and prepared to work with various cultural and management
styles of many of the units within the hospital. Through these
experiences I have also been able to identify with the professional
nursing role and gain important physical assessment skills. I have been
taught through these experiences to emphasize a holistic approach to
patient care, attending to the mind, body, and spirit. Some of my
strengths that I personally have include my clear communication skills,
my comfort level with patients and bedside manner; I also believe that
I have good leadership, adaptability, critical thinking skills, and a
strong compassion for my patients.

obstetrics. However other units I have interest in include cardiology,
mental health, neurology, and medical, however learning is a passion
of mine, and I believe I would be able to adapt to any unit and learn
the skills necessary to do so.

Out of all of the experiences I was able to have at Edgewood, my
favorite, as well as the area I felt as if I made the most difference, was
throughout my obstetrics clinical. This experience was an opportunity
that was both rewarding and educational. The nurses taught me to
understand the differences in working with these vulnerable
populations, and the special dynamics involved with working with
families, young children and adolescents, and women during
pregnancy and in the postpartum period. This experience not only
gave me a foundation for my nursing career, but also provided me
sensitivity to a patient population very near and dear to my heart. I
believe if given the chance, I can truly make a beneficial addition to
the birth centers team, and hopefully in the future as my love for this
area is validated, I plan to perhaps return to school and become a
midwife.
I believe having the opportunity to begin in the learning program will
help provide a smooth and successful transition into the Registered
Nurse position, and allow myself to align with the hospitals codes and
become familiar with the environment. I believe I will be able to adapt
to whichever unit I become apart of, and I hope to become an addition,
and long term employee of ThedaClark. Eventually I would like to
return to school and either obtain my DNP, NP, or midwife certification,
but this all depends on where my passion may lie down the road, which
I am aware may change with experience.
