Last August 8, 2013 a growth session on Fertility


Awareness and Perspective on Premarital Sex and
Teenage Pregnancy was conducted with the Second Year
students of CPAD, CHK, and CVM as audiences.
The activity was aimed to instill awareness to our adolescent
students especially on how they would handle issues crucial at
their age. Moreover, this is in support to the flagship program on
Commission on Population in their goal of commemorating the
World Population Day with the theme Adolescent Pregnancy:
Give Adolescent Girls and Boys a Voice.
The activities conducted are as follows:
1. Sessions on Teenage Pregnancy
2. Film and Video Viewing
3. Small Group Discussions
The Session included the following activities: Quiz on the
Myths and Facts on Reproductive Issues, Health Risks on the
part of the Baby, Health Risks on the part of the Mother, Effects of
Teenage Pregnancy and Small Group Workshop and Output
reporting.
An episode of Maalaala Mo Kayas BIMPO was viewed by the
students and insights were subject for small group discussions.

Geared with the objective of addressing cases of teenage


parenthood which seem to be a common concern of CSU at Carig,
the Guidance and Counseling Center of the Campus conducted a
Growth Session on Youth Awareness Towards a Responsible
Relationship last January 20-30, 2014.The session involved
seven hundred seventy-three (773) second year students of the
Campus.
Part of the activity was a discussion on the male and female
reproductive systems, fertility awareness and the mechanism of
pregnancy. Statistics on the characteristics of todays youth was
presented and participants were asked of their reactions.
The Campus Counselors emphasized the probable
consequences of entering into sexual relationships specifically the
physical, psychological, social, and emotional threats.

CSU at Carig as an advocate of gender and development


incorporates gender-related activities in its institutional programs.
Aside from the establishment of a GAD Office, the Guidance and
Counseling Center of the Campus takes charge students concers
vis--vis gender and development.
In fact, the Guidance Center spearheaded the conduct of a
Growth Session on Gender and Development among the
Third Year students last February 3-12, 2014. The session was
attended by five hundred twenty-three (523) college juniors
across colleges of the Campus.
The abovementioned growth session was conceptualized
with the objective of promoting gender equity and equality among
the concerned students. Further, it serves as an avenue for them
reflect on their gender roles hence, helping them in their search
for their gender identity. This consequently will facilitate in their
effort to understand and appreciate themselves as individuals.

Commission on Population RO2 initiated the conduct of the U4U
Teen Trail. The aforesaid activity was carried out last July 23 &
30, 2014 at the Red Eagle Gymnasium and aimed to respond on

the different issues faced by the adolescents and youth of today


particularly on teenage pregnancy and early marriages. Moreover,
it envisions to equip students with essential and relevant
information on decision-making and also to let them acknowledge
their power and role in the society. This served as an avenue for
our students to air out their concerns as adolescents hence,
letting their voices be heard.
The audience for this activity were some selected student
leaders and second year students.
