First Great Western & East Coast

Fight to defend jobs,

terms & conditions
RMT negotiators will be
meeting with the
management teams of First
Great Western
and East
Coast very
soon. We will
continue to
strongly press
them for
written
commitments
on key issues
that directly
affect our
members in
all grades in both
companies.
The issues that face
us on FGW and East Coast
are vital to our members.

We cannot tolerate job

losses at any grade, region
or location, nor can we
allow company
reorganisations
to dilute job
roles, wages,
terms &
conditions.
It is
absolutely vital
that every
member at
FGW and East
Coast supports
RMTs campaign to defend
jobs and services and is
ready to show unity across
the grades and throughout
the companies.

The key issues we are fighting for include:

To maintain job security of our members working in

the current fleet engineering depots where TUPE and
the principles of PTR&R apply
To keep a safety competent guard on every train
not a diluted customer service role
To keep full buffet car facilities and catering services
Maintaining station staffing levels including safety
critical station dispatch staff
No job losses or dilution of current roles or creation
of new job roles with inferior terms and conditions
To bring depot, turn-around and on-board cleaning
in-house.

The failure of the companies to come to terms with

your union on these crucial issues will lead to an
immediate dispute situation with RMT.
You can get involved by taking part in the public
campaigns that will be arranged at FGW and East Coast
stations and by attending the special branch meetings that
are being arranged in your area.
Please also be aware that the companies will be
pushing their propaganda in the workplace. So stay in
touch with your local and Company Council Reps and with
your local branch for the latest information about RMTs
campaigns.
