Asstudentsorformerstudents,wearehorrifiedthatouruniversityhelpsfundsystematicviolenceagainst
thefamiliesandcommunitiesofourPalestinianclassmates.AsindividualsinspiredbyJewishtradition,we
aredeeplycommittedtothevaluesofequality,socialjustice,andhealingtheworld.Weadamantlyassert
thatadvocatingforequalrightsforPalestiniansisnotinherentlyantiSemitic,andwefinditappallingwhen
thehistoricalpersecutionoftheJewishpeopleisappropriatedtocondonestatesanctionedand
internationallyrecognizedhumanrightsviolationsagainstPalestinians.Divestmentisatimetested
nonviolenttacticandtheorganizersabhorracisminallforms,includingantiSemitism.Wecallonour
studentleaderstopassthedivestmentresolutionandsendamessagetotheregentsthatUniversityof
Californiastudentsshouldnothavetochoosebetweengoingtoschoolandfundingcompaniesthatdirect
violenceagainsttheircommunitiesbackhome.
