Introduction
Before we explore my portfolio, let us all go back to the basic.
First, let us define Mathematics. Mathematics is the study of topics such
as quantity (numbers), structure, space, and change. There is a range of views
among mathematicians and philosophers as to the exact scope and definition
of mathematics. Etymology of Mathematics: The word mathematics comes
from the Greek (mthma), which, in the ancient Greek language,
means "that which is learnt", "what one gets to know", hence also "study" and
"science", and in modern Greek just "lesson". The word mthma is derived
from (manthano), while the modern Greek equivalent is
(mathaino), both of which mean "to learn". In Greece, the word for
"mathematics" came to have the narrower and more technical meaning
"mathematical
study"
even
in
Classical
times. Its
adjective
is (mathmatiks), meaning "related to learning" or "studious",
which likewise further came to mean "mathematical". In particular,
(mathmatik tkhn), Latin: ars mathematica, meant "the mathematical
art". In my first year in high school, we tackled Intermediate Algebra. Then
on my second year, Geometry and Algebra was discussed ( I studied at
Roosevelt College Cainta back then). When I transferred here in Quezon City
High School, for the second time, we had Geometry, but bet you, it is more
complex than the first one. And now that I am already a fourth year student, we
are currently taking Trigonometry. What is Trigonometry by the way?
Trigonometry (from Greek trignon, "triangle" and metron, "measure") is a
branch
of mathematics that
studies
relationships
involving
lengths
and angles of triangles. The field emerged during the 3rd century BC from
applications of geometry to astronomical studies.

After the defining of terms, let us now go to the description of my

portfolio.
You can see here inside my portfolio all of what I have been doing in my Math
class. Some of my accomplishments, my improvements from the previous
semester (If there are), and my plans for the incoming 3 rd and 4th grading can
all be found in this portfolio. So let us not waste our time, and I welcome you to
my Portfolio.

IiI. Plans
As a student, of course I have my plans, especially on my studies.
As a matter of fact, I had a hard time answering my recent math exam because
I am not attending to my classes regularly (due to excuses *outdoor quiz bees,
activities of our club and etc). But now that our month is almost over, and our
outdoor activities are fewer than before, I guess I can focus more on my
studies now. I will definitely focus on my studies because I was really
disappointed on my academic performance last grading.

First on my lists of plan is that, I will listen properly to my teachers

(Either Mrs. Golea or Mr. Bagcal). I noticed that I am not really a listener. I
always talk or do something right away even if the person is still talking. And
now that we are already in our 2 nd semester, I will now listen properly to people
around me.
Second is that I will always take down notes. Math is not a lecture-allthe-way subject. But in my case, I often forget how to do this, and how to solve
that. That is why taking down notes is a must.
Last but definitely not the least, I should, I need and I must love MATH
even more. I want to pursue a college degree that is very much related to
math. I should love this subject as early as now because my heart will be falling
into pieces when I already entered college life if I still do not have this subject
in my heart. And I think the best secret to solve those bloody equations, heart
breaking functions and eye-popping algebraic expressions is to simply love
math and to love what you are doing.
I hope that I can do all these things. Good luck to my 2 nd semester and
may the great Lord of Lords grant me with wisdom and understanding.
