TEX pneumatic breakers

When quality counts

The TEX range

If you have rented, bought or operated
a TEX pneumatic breaker somewhere
around the globe you must likely know
it for its performance and reliability. The
reason that it keeps performing, day in,
day out, year after year is simplicity. Our
machines are used on the toughest of
jobs and often in very difficult conditions. And they keep coming back for
more. Because of that word simplicity.

have many common parts. This helps

you keep your parts stock to a minimum.
They not only share parts, but they have
a lot more in common:

Valve parts of glass-fibre reinforced

polymer eliminate corrosion problems

When the machines are running offload, the piston turns on air-cushions
at either end of the cylinder, virtually
eliminating metal-to-metal contact
and reducing vibrations and wear

Streamlined silencer profile does not

obscure the chisel and work-piece
from the operator

Low centre of gravity gives good

balance, considerably reducing operator fatigue

Design eliminates need for side

Simplicity
Simplicity of design means fewer parts,
less hassle, easier on-site service and
maintenance and therefore less down
time. Good news for everyone who
buys, rents, or operates our machines.
When we first introduced the TEX
range we raised the bar for the industry
and it became a global leader. And still
is.
The most recent additions to the TEX
range include new design features that
live up to the TEX breakers reputation
for excellent handling, performance and
reliability. Simplicity, in the design
and the function of the eight most
recent models TEX 140 - 280, sets a
new standard for pneumatic breakers
again!
In each series, and in some cases
also between the series, TEX breakers

Except in TEX 20PS and TEX 21PE

TEX 140-280 series

TEX 140-280 is our latest
range of light and medium
sized breakers.
They are ideal for service
jobs and general demolition, but not in very hard
materials or heavily reinforced concrete
Page 4-7

TEX P60-P90 series

TEX P60 and TEX P90 were developed to
meet the tough requirements found, for
example, in the rental industry. TEX P60 is
ideal for breaking asphalt, while the
TEX P90 is our most powerful demolition
breaker, especially suitable for breaking
hard reinforced concrete or other tasks
where real power is required.
Page 10-11

TEX 32-40 series

The TEX 32-40 models are heavy duty,
general demolition breakers, used in a
number of applications on medium hard
to hard materials. They are well proven in
both asphalt and concrete.
Page 12-13

TEX 20-21 series

TEX 20PS and TEX 21PE are medium sized
service/general demolition breakers.
They are characterized by a long piston
stroke, giving them a harder impact than
similarly sized standard breakers. They are
the best choice for applications in medium
hard materials and where you need lower
weight or low air consumption.

to match. Atlas Copco has a full range of
quality tools for your breakers.

Solid body, solid performance and ease of use
The latest TEX series is a marriage of
the best and most useful features,
characteristics and performance of the
breaker range it replaces, and a number
of new, but well-proven features such
as Atlas Copcos solid body concept and
the two-step trigger, SOFSTARTTM.

Solid body concept

The solid housing design contains fewer
parts and that means greater reliability. It also allows for fast and exceptionally easy on-site service a few basic
tools are all you need.
Existing Atlas Copco products that
feature the solid body concept have
enjoyed great success, winning broad
market acceptance.

PE vibro-reduced breakers
For the new PE breakers, with springmounted handles, we have further
improved the vibration characteristics,
decreasing the vibration emissions. The
new breakers are still as hard-hitting and

with greater operator comfort and more
productivity.

PS breakers noise-reduced,
standard breakers
These fixed-handle breakers feature all
the advantages of the PE series except
the vibro-reducing handles. They are as
hardy, reliable and productive as ever.

SOFSTARTTM trigger full chisel

control
These breakers come with a two-step
trigger that gives you full control when
starting a cut even under difficult
conditions.

Handling made easier

The air inlet swivel
rotates easily, even when
pressurized.

Solid body concept no side bolts, great reliability

The one-piece solid housing means fewer parts for
greater reliability.
The housing has also been made shorter in all breakers except the TEX 140 and TEX 150. This together
with a low centre of gravity gives good balance.

Noise reduction
The wear-resistant polyurethane silencer
cuts noise emission by up to 75 % (as compared to the same machine without noise
reduction, ISO 3744). Its slim profile lets the
operator see the point of the chisel and the
work-piece.

Air cushioning
To reduce vibration and wear, the piston turns on air-cushions at either end
of the cylinder. When the machines
are working off-load, this practically
eliminates metal-to-metal contact.

Atlas Copcos HAPS system

By reducing the in-use vibration
value of the machine, Atlas
Copcos HAPS system decreases
the negative effects of harmful
vibration at a given trigger time.
The PE series machines allow up
to 7 times the trigger time of conventional fixed-handled machines
at a given level of vibration-exposure for the operator.

The integrated lubricator

helps minimize tool wear and is
excellent for cold conditions, when it
can be used for anti-freeze, such as
Atlas Copco AIR-OIL. It holds enough
lubricant for an entire shift.

Low air consumption

You can run more breakers off a given
size of compressor, thanks to the low
air consumption of the TEX 20/TEX 21.

TEX 20-21 series

The hard-hitting all-rounder
Most of the time you want a reliable allrounder. The fighting weight of the
TEX 20 and TEX 21 at around 20 kg, is
about 5 kg lighter than most breakers in
the same class. But with their long piston stroke they deliver the extra punch
needed for breaking materials that are
a bit harder. This makes them ideal for
general purpose service or demolition
jobs.

operator easier and quieter; and more

productive.
There is also a standard, noisereduced model with fixed handles in the
range, the TEX 20.
Both models are equally easy to service and come with a standard hexagonal shank, or a special round shank with
a square collar.

Easier on your hands and

your ears
The TEX 21 comes with spring-dampened handles that reduce vibration. The
slim profile silencer gives the operator
a good, full view of the chisel. The silencer cuts the noise from the machine by
up to 75%, making working life for the

TEX P60-P90 heavy

breaker series
Big on power. Big on performance.
With the TEX P60 and TEX P90 we
concentrate on two key factors for demanding customers: Performance and
reliability. The TEX P60 and TEX P90 are
designed, just like the TEX 140 280
series, from a one piece, solid-cast
housing, which eliminates the need for
separate frontheads, backheads and sidebolts. This design means 30 % fewer
parts than in traditional breakers. And
fewer parts mean fewer breakdowns.
The TEX P90 is the most hard hitting
breaker in the TEX range and ideal for
demanding demolition jobs in hard materials. For TEX P60 the focus is on high

productivity when cutting softer materials like asphalt and therefore it has a
high blow frequency.

Minimal parts inventory and

easy service
All but three parts in the TEX P60 and
TEX P90 are interchangeable, so your
spare parts inventory can be kept to a
minimum. These heavy-duty breakers
allow extremely fast and easy on-site
service. A hammer and a mandrel are
all you need for almost any service task,
wherever you are.

Reduced wear
The anvil block, a tried and tested design
from earlier heavy models, not only helps
handle the great impact energy, but also
helps avoid damage to the hammer mechanism from worn out chisel shanks.

Controlled power
There is power in abundance, but it is easy to control. Thanks to the
SOFSTARTTM two-step trigger, the operator can begin to hammer slowly, setting the chisel where its needed, without a lot of wasted effort.

Full-shift lubricator
The built-in lubricator ensures sufficient lubrication
to minimize tool wear. It is easily accessible, accepts
both mineral and synthetic oils and holds enough oil
for an entire shift.

Air-cushioned action
TEX P60 and TEX P90 feature air-cushioned
piston return. This means less vibration
during back hammering and blank hammering, which reduces stress on man and
machine.

Optional silencer
The silencer, available as an option, significantly reduces the noise level. Thanks to its slim
design, it provides a full view of the chisel and
work-piece for maximum control.

TEX 32-40 heavy demolition

breaker series
No weaknesses here
What more could you want from a class
of heavy pneumatic breakers: good
power-to-weight ratio, reduced noise
and vibration, and extremely durable
and productive. For years, these heavy
TEX breakers have been proving their
value to customers worldwide, under
the most demanding of conditions.
This series incorporates the
TEX 33PE and TEX 40PE with spring
dampened handles allow up to 7 times
the trigger time of conventional fixedhandled machines at a given level of
vibration-exposure for the operator.
By reducing the in-use vibration value
of the machine, Atlas Copcos HAPS
system decreases the negative effects
of harmful vibration at a given trigger
time. Coupled with the slim silencers,
which reduce the noise level by up to
75%, while still providing full view of
the chisel, you have machines that can
be used for a prolonged period and are
extremely productive.

The TEX 32PS and TEX 39PS offer stateof-the-art noise reduction in combination with an efficient and well-proven
design. These reliable workhorses are
at work all around the world. They have
fixed handles, but are otherwise identical to the vibro-reduced units.
The various models in the series have
many common parts and therefore your
parts inventory can be kept to a minimum.

The long piston head

gives very good guidance in the cylinder,
which reduces wear on both components.

Reduced wear
The anvil block, a tried and tested design from earlier heavy models, not

to the hammer mechanism from
worn out chisel shanks.

The air inlet swivel

can be rotated when needed even when pressurized. This makes
the TEX breaker one very manoeuvrable machine and, together
with its excellent balance, gives the operator an easy machine to
work with, even under difficult worksite conditions.

An integrated lubricator
helps minimize tool wear. It holds enough
lubricant to last an entire shift. In freezing
conditions, it can also be used for anti-freeze
such as Atlas Copco AIR-OIL.

harmful vibrations

Air-cushioned action
