Boutique hotel in Gonzales now open!

Historic building receives a new calling

The historic Dilworth
building in downtown Gonzales, Texas has been transformed into a luxury boutique hotel and upscale Italian
restaurant. The once bank /
dentist office / department
store has been redesigned to
create an inviting, comfortable space to stay the night,
weekend, or month. Exuding warm, Texas hospitality,
the hotel offers 14 spacious
rooms, some overlooking the
town square. Amenities include luxury linens, wireless
internet, Keurig coffee, and
flat screen cable TVs as well

building were retained to

maintain the historic charm
of the building. The original
mosaic tiles set in 1912 are
still seen in the Italian restaurant and bar. The old bank
vault is now home to the
restaurant refrigerator. The
windows upstairs, though
updated to be more energy
efficient, have the same shape
and charm of the original
windows. The original office space upstairs forms the
bones of several of the rooms.
The once dentist office is now
home to a two bedroom suite.
New contemporary design elements accented with
traditional and repurposed
pieces create a stylish and
comfortable home away
from home. The vision was

to develop a downtown destination and contribute to

the towns revitalization and
growth. Photographs of the
local community buildings
throughout the hotel tie the
space firmly to the Gonzales
community.
The Dilworth Inn will be
celebrating its Grand Opening on Friday, February 20,
2015 from 4:30 to 6:30 .
Please come by and view the
new Dilworth.
Hotel reservations can
be made directly at www.
TheDilworth.com,
Facebook.com/TheDilworth, or
through various online travel
websites. The hotel can be

Sheriff s Department
gets new cars, uniform

Nearly a year ago, Gonzales County Sheriff Glen

Sachtleben and his staff decided that the Law Enforcement portion of the Sheriffs
Department needed some
attention.
The uniforms worn at
the time were and not distinguisable from several of
the neighboring Sheriffs
departments. The graphics
on the patrol cars were only
slightly different from other
adjacent Sheriffs offices and
even a little like those of the
Gonzales Police Department cars.

Chief Deputy Jeromy

Belin and Chief Investigator Matt Atkinson designed
new shoulder patches for
the office and coordinated
the design of a uniform that
would express the professional image desired for
the department. The uniform includes a summer
short sleeve and a Class A
for special duty and court.
The uniform also includes
a long-sleeve shirt and tie.
Both uniforms may be worn
with a prescribed jacket for
inclement weather.

arrive, they are outfitted

with state-of-the-art graphics of a modern design and
unique to Gonzales County.
The graphics are black and
gold with the Sheriffs Star
prominently displayed on
both sides of the vehicle,
with graphics identifying

the officer as a patrol deputy

opr a supervisor as the case
may be.
Using the new technology available in graphic design, the new light-reflective
graphics cost the same as the
old single/strip/star combination previously in use by

the department.
Officer safety was one
of the main goals in the
changes. It is paramount
that officers be identified
by the people they serve
as officer. The department
also wanted the Gonzales
County citizens to be able to

recognize the deputies from

other agencies. The graphics
on the vehicle are reflective
at night and will alert citizens that this is a patrol car
and will add visibilty to the
the vehicle for the safety of
the officers while doing their
jobs.
