Apaches soccer team fell
8-0 on the road to Beeville
on Jan. 27.
We did better with being patience and chemistry

The Lady Apaches lost
3-0 to La Vernia at home

Gonzales ended a goalscoring drought Friday at
home in a 5-1 loss to La
Grange. The Lady Apaches
got a goal by Blanca Hernandez in the first half for
a 1-1 tie and the score remained that way until La
Grange scored four goals in
the final 15 minutes of play.
We had a little fatigue
and were plagued by some
injuries, Philips said. The
girls played a lot more aggressive than in previous
games and looked more
comfortable. Im proud of
the way they are progressing.
The Gonzales Apaches

soccer team defeated New


Braunfels Canyon, 5-1, on
Jan. 27. Apache goal scorers in the game were John
Bashaw, Angel Flores and
Rogelio Sanchez.
We are doing a little better in communication, but
still need more work, passing is coming along but still
need more work. Overall,
the team is improving every game, GHS head coach
Greg Ramirez said.
The Apaches earned a
competitive 4-0 win over
Beeville on Jan. 30 at home.
Goal scorers were Flores
with two goals, Bashaw
with one goal and successful penalty kick from keeper Daniel Barrientos.
Gonzales beat Pleasanton on Friday 4-2.
Jose Flores, Angel Flores,

Apaches powerlifting team
placed No. 10 in the Yorktown meet with six points
and Nixon-Smiley tied for
No. 18 on Jan 31.
Gabby Rodriguez came

in second place in the 220plus class. She totaled 705,


with 310 on squat, 145
bench press and 250 deadlift.
Marissa Garcia placed
fifth in the 105-pound class
with a total of 315, 125
squat, 55 bench and 135
deadlift. Alexis Cerda was
sixth in the 165 class with a
total of 615. She had a 230
squat, 105 bench and 280
deadlift. Tori Ince came in
No. 15 in the 132 class with
a total of 465. She had 170
squat, 85 bench press and

The Lady Apaches competed in the Rattler powerlifting meet Saturday in
San Marcos, coming in at
No. 11.
Ashton Miller was third
in the 198 with a 245 squat,
120 bench press and 305
deadlift for a total of 670.
Ince was eighth in the
132 class with a total of 480,
180 squat, 85 bench press
and 215 deadlift.
The Apaches also came
in at No. 11 in the meet.

press and 265 deadlift.
Trent Schauer was fourth
in the 198 with a total of

Alex Ortiz was sixth

the bench press and a deadlift of 360. Jeremiah Cantu
was eighth in the 242. He

San Marcos Tournament
Jan. 30 while Madaline Kocian came in fourth in girls

tournament.

place in third place in boys
doubles while Jacob Burke
