Projects Summary:
Paltel Group started its operations in Palestine in 1997 with Paltel, the public
shareholding company. The group provides variety of services include: local
and international fixed telephony services, internet, data communications,
mobile services and next generation services. Paltel group consists of six
subsidiaries and we will deal with Palestine Telecommunications Company
(Paltel) which provides fixed line, internet access via BSA and other valueadded services.
Since Paltel group annual report reviews the financial statement, the cost of
the maintenance in 2012 was 10,332,000 JD, so we are going to assess the
current situation of the maintenance department in order to reduce that cost
and implement some improvements.
We are going to assess and improve maintenance management which is the
process of overseeing maintenance resources so that the organization does
not experience downtime from broken equipment or waste money on
inefficient maintenance procedures. Maintenance management software
programs can assist with the process. The primary objectives of maintenance
management are to schedule work efficiently, control costs and ensure
regulatory compliance.

The optimum maintenance management has several aspects to deal

with, such as maintenance strategies that the company adopts, is it a
preventive, predictive, or a corrective and emergency strategies, also
the standard operating procedures and scheduling for each
maintenance
operation,
KPIs
and
accurate
performance
measurements, evaluating work orders and queuing time for each
maintenance order to be done, the forecasted failures, mean time
between failures for the internal PBX and external ones, spare parts and
inventory management, and the recording and documentation
systems.
The optimum maintenance management will lead to minimize the total
maintenance cost, reducing repair and response time, also increases

the efficiency and the quality of the whole system in order to increase
the customer satisfaction.
Trying to have the optimum case needs to follow several phases as,
defining the maintenance strategies, objectives and KPIs,
maintenance execution assessments and controlling, asset life cycle
and replacement optimization, simulating the work order queue in
order to improve the queuing time, managing spare parts and
inventory layout, defining standard operation procedures, and
Improving the recording system in order to have a total improvement
system.
