Dear Participant:

Welcome to the 5th PAACS Basic Science Conference. We are excited that you
will be joining us and pray that this will be a blessing for all who attend. We have
67 lectures and 4 workshops scheduled, look forward to the spiritual challenges
from Rev. Stan Key our Spiritual Dean and will enjoy the time of socialization. I will
be helping with the logistics and it is much easier to keep track of the constantly
moving parts if you can do everything to me. Please read the rest of the
information carefully, fill in the information and send it back to me as soon as
possible and in no case later than December 10.
I will need the help of the program directors who are taking residents in
January to get this document to them.
Please contact me at bruce.steffes@paacs.net if you have any questions or
anything that is out of the ordinary.
Please begin praying for Gods hand on all of this and for those who are left
behind to carry the work load.
Yours and His,
Bruce Steffes,
MD

Venue: Brackenhurst International Conference Centre, near Limuru, Kenya
Schedule: Not yet finished but will be sent as soon as possible. We intend to have
the mornings of the first week set aside for the missionaries to meet with Stan Key
as we did in 2013. There will be time for individual counseling for the faculty as
well, if desired.
Spiritual Life Speaker: Rev. Stan Key
Lodging: Those who arrive after 4:00 PM are not advised to try to travel to
Brackenhurst that evening. If you are arriving in Nairobi after 4:00 PM, I will assume
that I will arrange for your party lodging at the Methodist Guesthouse and transport
to Brackenhurst the next morning.
Planned activity: Saturday afternoon all residents will be invited to go on a
walking safari at Crescent Island. There will be no cost for the resident. All other
attendees are invited along at their own expense (cost to be determined but was
$50 in 2013). Several options for day trips will be available for Sunday or after the
conference if you wish to arrange them.
Taxi: Travel will be arranged for those arriving at the airport to either go directly to
Brackenhurst (depending on time and safety of travel) or to the overnight hotel and
then to Brackenhurst the next day. Arrangements will be made after arrival on-site

for travel back to Nairobi. Faculty members and faculty members other than PDs
and Assistant PDs will be responsible for their taxi fare (reimbursed to PAACS).

not true, please start working on it IMMEDIATELY. Each year, someone has to be
sent home. Residents see below:

anything other than dollars, euros or pounds, exchange cannot be done at the front
desk of Brackenhurst and it is recommended that you exchange money at the
airport before leaving. Note to residents: Only money for incidentals (souvenirs,
personal purchases, extra food and drinks will be needed)
