Do you think the checks and balances set forth in the Constitution are still valid as a

method of controlling government? Are they working appropriately?

There are various places where the checks and balances in the United States Constitution
show to be circumvented by one branch over another. According to (ENOTE, 2013)
Steve Burden explains our current financial disaster best when said the Constitution was
abrogated, void, or disregarded by our administration. The founders acknowledged the
independence of the populace. The citizens were to be the decisive enforcers of the
stringent restrictions that were placed on government. I do not consider the checks and
balances set forth in the Constitution are running correctly because the Constitution was
intended to produce and strengthen internal as well as external struggle and balances of
power. It was acknowledged by some founders that several responsibilities were
accomplished most excellent by government, but with the associated risk of increase of
power in a particular group (Domhoff,2010). The external and internal balances original
to the accomplishment of the Constitution has been damaged but I feel that if the
government and people work collectively our Constitutional balances can be
reestablished.

Do you think our country is better off when one party controls multiple branches of
government? Why or why not?

I feel that our country is better off when branches of government are controlled by both parties.
No one person thinks the same everyone has a different opinion about the way things should be
handled. Sometimes it is better to have one party that will deal with one side of a branch and
another party handles another branch. There is not anything wrong when both parties do not
agree with each other which seem to be like a battle in government because it will allow the
public to have a view on both sides. If multiple branches of government were controlled by one
party that party has the power and could possibly control the government with views from one

side. I always felt that have different opinions can be a positive thing because the public has
more than one view if how things are going to go and one party is not in control.
