around 21.5 sq.m. (230 sq.ft. ) of filter medium , as specified above
The edges of the separators shall extend atleast 3 mm beyond the pleats but not closer than
3 mm to the filter frame . the pleats and the separators shall not be , as far as possible,
kinked from a straight line drawn end to end of the pleat and shall be perpendicular to the
frame

4.4
4.5
4.6
4.7
4.8

The filter shall have adequate corner strength to avoid racking or skewing during handling,
transportation and installation. The core of the assembly shall be tight .

6.0 TESTING AND INSPECTION:

The following testing and inspection works shall be carried out at the manufacturers site
in the presence of the indentor (or) his representative.
6.1 Flow, Pressure drop & Collection efficiency
Each filter shall be individually tested for its initial pressure drop and collection efficiency at
the rated flow of 1700 SCMH, as per the approved test procedure at the manufacturers site. The
test results (air flow, initial pressure drop and collection efficiency), the airflow direction and the
date of testing shall be marked on the filters, after approval and acceptance. Only filters assembled
and completed in all respects (with out gaskets) with totally cured and dried sealant and of specified
dimensions shall be taken up for this performance evaluation.
6.2 One out of every 50 filters or parts there of, at the discretion of the indentor, shall be opened
out completely to ascertain the use of specified / approved materials. The entire lot is liable to
be rejected, if specified /approved materials of construction have not been used in these filters.
7.0 QUALIFICATION TEST
The indentor reserves the right to carry out the following qualification tests, at manufacturers
work, on one randomly selected filter out of the lot manufactured against the order, if desired.
7.1 Core tightness test: (One out of every 50 filters)
The core tightness test of the filter shall be tested as per the following procedure:
Lay filter face down on a flat surface. Place a 100 X 150mm block of wood, covered with a
neoprene pad glued to one surface, at the center of the filter face. Place a 2 kg. Weight on the
block. A force of 2 kg. Exerted on the block in a direction parallel to the face of the filter and
perpendicular to the pleats shall cause the block to move no more than 1.5 mm from its original
position in either direction.

7.2 Test for resistance to rough handling: (One out of every 50 filters)
The filter shall withstand rough handling for 15 minutes at 12 mm (1/2 in) total amplitude
and a frequency of 200 cycles per minute with pleats and filter faces in a vertical orientation,
without visible damage or loss of filtration efficiency when tested using equipment in accordance
with 105.9 of MIL-STD-282.
7.3 Filter efficiency Test at 20 % rated flow. (One out of every 50 filters)
The filter shall be tested for its initial pressure drop and collection efficiency at 20 % of
rated flow as per the approved test procedure at the manufacturers site. The filter efficiency shall
not be less than 99.97% for particles down to 0.3 micron, when measured at 20 % air flow (340
SCMH), by number count method employing size selective particle counter and hetero-disperse
DOP test aerosol, having size distribution in which at least 50% of the cumulative counts is
between 0.3 and 0.5 micron
The whole lot of filters is liable to be rejected if the filter fails to qualify any one of the
qualification test as per 7.1 to 7.3 above
8.0 PACKING:
The individual filter shall be packed in a polythene bag and the in to a rigid cardboard carton.
The filter shall be placed in the carton in such a way that the faces and pleats are vertical when the
carton is in the normal shipping orientation. The carton shall be marked as FRAGILE, HANDLE
WITH CARE &THIS SIDE UP or similar legend. The serial number of the filter packed inside
shall also be indicated.
9.0 DELIVERY:
The supplier shall be committed to the delivery schedule indicated in the purchase order and shall
be fully responsible for the delivery of the filters in our stores with no physical damage either to the
carton or to the filter.
