1. Description of the ITEM: Supply of High Efficiency Particulate Air Filters (HEPA)
2. Detailed specification and Quantity: 320 Nos.
i) Uniformity
3.3 SEPERATOR:
3.4 SEALANT:
Sealant used for sealing the filter pack with the filter frame shall be oil resistant and shall be
adequate to meet the temperature and humidity conditions specified, when set. The set sealant
shall not show cracks or tendency to peel off from the filter frame.
3.5 GASKETS:
Soft, impermeable, closed pore neoprene rubber gaskets with shore A hardness less than 5
and shall be of 6 mm (1/4 in.)Thick and 19 mm (3/4) wide. The gasket shall be a single square
piece or with dovetail joints at four corners.
3.6. FACE GUARDS:
The filter shall be rigidity fitted with faceguards on both faces with no portion of face
guards extending out of the overall dimension of the filter specified under section 2.2 and shall be
atleast 2 mm inwards from the edges of the filter frame all around . The faceguard shall be made of
4x4 mesh stainless steel (SS 304) wire mesh, expanded metal with maximum opening of 25x12.5
mm or perforated metal having maximum opening of 12.5x12.5 mm with suitable support frame to
avoid sagging towards the filter pack .The pressure drop of the filter, fitted with such faceguard on
both faces shall not exceed the requirements under section 2.3 above. Fitting of faceguard on to the
filter faces shall avoid possible airflow leak during use
3.7
the sealant gasket and paint used in the filter should withstand the humidity and temperature
conditioned specified under section 2.5 and 2.6 and above
The filter shall not have splice and shall not be spot patched to repair holes or cracks
The filter pack shall consist of a minimum of 140+/-5 nos . of pleats ,accommodating
around 21.5 sq.m. (230 sq.ft. ) of filter medium , as specified above
The edges of the separators shall extend atleast 3 mm beyond the pleats but not closer than
3 mm to the filter frame . the pleats and the separators shall not be , as far as possible,
kinked from a straight line drawn end to end of the pleat and shall be perpendicular to the
frame

The filter shall have adequate corner strength to avoid racking or skewing during handling,
transportation and installation. The core of the assembly shall be tight .
The sealant shall be uniformly applied and the sealants shall be perfectly dry and set.
The gasket shall be firmly pasted on to the faces of the filter with suitable adhesive and
dove tail joints .if any, shall be without ant gap
The corner gaps , if any, between the face and gasket at joints of filter frame members
shall be filled with the sealant with smooth finish .
The painting and the overall finish and look shall be neat and clean .

Faces
+ 1.5, - 0 mm
Face diagonals of both faces shall be equal within 3.0 mm.
: The gasket seating surfaces shall be square with the side of the
frame within 3 degrees. And shall be flat and parallel within
1.5mm total allowance, when measured with one face of the filter
7.2 Test for resistance to rough handling: (One out of every 50 filters)
The filter shall withstand rough handling for 15 minutes at 12 mm (1/2 in) total amplitude
and a frequency of 200 cycles per minute with pleats and filter faces in a vertical orientation,
without visible damage or loss of filtration efficiency when tested using equipment in accordance
with 105.9 of MIL-STD-282.
7.3 Filter efficiency Test at 20 % rated flow. (One out of every 50 filters)
The filter shall be tested for its initial pressure drop and collection efficiency at 20 % of
rated flow as per the approved test procedure at the manufacturers site. The filter efficiency shall
not be less than 99.97% for particles down to 0.3 micron, when measured at 20 % air flow (340
SCMH), by number count method employing size selective particle counter and hetero-disperse
DOP test aerosol, having size distribution in which at least 50% of the cumulative counts is
between 0.3 and 0.5 micron
The whole lot of filters is liable to be rejected if the filter fails to qualify any one of the
qualification test as per 7.1 to 7.3 above
8.0 PACKING:
The individual filter shall be packed in a polythene bag and the in to a rigid cardboard carton.
The filter shall be placed in the carton in such a way that the faces and pleats are vertical when the
carton is in the normal shipping orientation. The carton shall be marked as FRAGILE, HANDLE
WITH CARE &THIS SIDE UP or similar legend. The serial number of the filter packed inside
shall also be indicated.
9.0 DELIVERY:
The supplier shall be committed to the delivery schedule indicated in the purchase order and shall
be fully responsible for the delivery of the filters in our stores with no physical damage either to the
carton or to the filter.
