Enterprise Plan Development through a
Residency in Barpar (Deoria)

The objectives of this exercise are:

1.
The primary objective of the BGT residency program is
to allow the selected group to conduct on the ground
research during the stay, understand the components
of an enterprise plan with coaching from mentors, and
finally come up with realistic enterprise plans
2.
The workshop should be viewed primarily as a training
exercise, however, the output should be viewed as a
document that should stand up to scrutiny for setting
up a real enterprise in the context of Deoria and to
raise the require funds
3.
Jagritis objectives will be targeted specifically to ensure the above during the residency program. On successful completion of the enterprise plan, Jagriti will
discuss with the team members interested in implementing their plan in Deoria or in their own part of the
country. Assistance will be provided from Jagriti Enterprise Network
4.
This program is linked with the Jagriti Enterprise Plan
competition where the winners at the end will be
awarded by Google

same day and stay together till the end. You can use this

DATES
The residency program is scheduled at Barpar (Deoria)
village from 27th Feb to 13th March, 2014.The participating
teams will spend around 10 days for the residency in
Barpar. This will include sometime for travel and a week
long residency at Barpar.

In case the facilitator is unable to attend, please

nominate a team leader for future communication
A team is allowed to participate in the program only
when there are at least 4 members from the original
team. The team leaders need to form the team and arrive at a consensus on the dates the team wants to
spend at Barpar. You are free to choose any 10 days in
the window of 27th Feb-13th March. It is advisable that

Those selected after the residency program will

be called for the final round of the competition,
scheduled tentatively on 15th April

The winners will be awarded with a prize money

of 1 lakh, mentorship & publicity through Jagriti
Enterprise Network

Jagriti Yatra

Major national highways intersect at Gorakhpur, including

NH 28 and 29. Some important distances are: Kushinagar
50 km, Lucknow 276 km, Varanasi 231 km, Allahabad 339
km, Agra 624km, Delhi 783 km, Kolkata 770 km, Gwalior
730 km, Bhopal 922 km and Mumbai 1690 km. Frequent
bus services are available for most of these cities.

Your travel expenses (up to sleeper class Indian Railways)

will be reimbursed by Jagriti against the original tickets at
Barpar. Please carry your tickets with you.

STAY & OTHER PROVISIONS

Stay at Barpar

Welcome at Deoria

All the participating teams will stay at the village during the
program. Separate staying quarters are arranged for the
boys and girls.

Once you arrive at Deoria station you can come directly to

the Barpar village. Please contact the following persons/
numbers when you arrive at Gorakhpur station.

You will be provided with basic sleeping accommodation in

the village; food and local transport will be taken care of by
Jagriti. Please bring sleeping bags with you. As weather will
slightly be cold, bring warm clothes and blanket.

reached by taking a Rickshaw.

Jagriti Yatra

All the rules of the Yatra (zero tolerance to alcohol, no smoking on premises, etc.) as they apply on the Yatra also apply for the stay during the
program. In addition, living in a small village poses additional cultural
sensitivities, please dress appropriately, where possible favouring the
national dress. However, this is not mandatory. Please do adhere to these
rules for a successful program.
