The Christian

Messenger
February 22, 2015
The Womens Ministry is hosting a Random Acts of Kindness Day on
Saturday, February 28th, from 11am 1pm. We plan to clean different
areas in our church, write encouragement notes and cards to people, and
Delores Payne will be teaching some basic crochet skills so we can make
baby hats for newborns or preemies.
All ladies are asked to bring a dish to share for lunch.
If you have any ideas for random acts of kindness, please contact Kim
Seevers at 740-534-3638.

On March 7, we are looking for people

to travel to the Southeast Ohio Food
Bank in Logan, Ohio. We will leave the
church at 8:15 A.M. and hope to return
about noon. Some helped in 2014 and
we had an excellent time packing boxes
with food items. The work is not hard.
Anyone can do it as long as you can
stand. If you want to help, contact Brad
at 740.550.9882. Thanks!

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

As I write today, I recognize that March could be a pivotal time
for us as a church. The leadership is calling on everyone
associated with Fifth Avenue to make a commitment to attend
each Sunday for a special study during our Bible School hour.
Each adult class has been asked to teach four lessons on the
theme: Eats with Sinners. This Bible study is based on the
Luke 15:2 passage which says, This man welcomes

sinners and eats with them.

In Jesus day, eating with someone acknowledged them as an equal. Religious leaders considered it
unthinkable for a Jewish teacher to eat with common people. But Jesus cared more about saving
souls than saving face. So, we plead with you, come and rethink discipleship with us. Come and see
how Jesus himself, connected with people who so desperately needed Him. Maybe it will help you
connect people to Jesus as well. If you do not currently attend a class, why not join us in one of our
study groups. Bible School begins each Sunday at 8:45 A.M. and classes meet in rooms 204, 208,
st
209, 214. All the fun begins March 1 . Join us!

March 19- Its never too soon to advertise the area-wide Men &
Boys Bean Dinner at the Heath Church of Christ. This incredible
night of fellowship consists of much more than eating beans. Its about
making connections with other Christian men from the area.
Its about growing in your faith and being challenged as a Christian man to a deeper walk with
Jesus. Its about standing in worship singing the Lords praise with 800 guys at the top of your
lungs. O.k I admit, it is also about the beans, pie, and laughter. I do hope you will join us for a
great night. This would be a great time to invite someone to come with you. There will be
special musical groups and great preaching as always. We will leave the church at 5:00
P.M.
In His Service,
Brad

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE!

At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving people,
and turning the world upside down.
We are happy you chose to worship with us today. We hope you
return next week and bring your friends with you. If you would
please take a few minutes to fill out a Silent Roll Call Card,
located on the back of the pew, you can then place it in the
offering plate as it is passed. Thank you. For more information
about our great church, contact our minister, Brad Seevers at
Brad@new-churches.org or call him at 740.550.9882. Have a
great week and may God bless your life.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of
Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus
through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus
on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching
& understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy
3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Brad Seevers preaching

___________________________________________________________

Church health becomes reality when God's people

seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every
member to protect the unity of Christ's
Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

___________________________________________________________

Global Evangelism

___________________________________________________________

We are constant to our founding call to worldwide

evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the
Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will
equip them to find a ministry based upon their
strengths. We want everyone to serve in some
capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His
church to be the living evidence of His love and power
to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that
Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a
Christian.
Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.
Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.
Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life.
Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and
to receive the Holy Spirit into your life.
To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during
our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized
believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on
Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further.
We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better
understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to
take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth
Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all
about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily
relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In
other words, we want to see the things you are taught
actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of
Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic
diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

Cocos Candy Shop by V. Gilbert Beers is a book for elementary

readers. Cocos Candy Shop is a unique experience in Christian
Education. The delights of childhood, popularized by such names
as Seuss, Disney, and Sesame Street, are associated with joyous
truths about God. This book does not seek to cover doctrines in
depth, but to bring a happy association among the various facets of
total living serious and delightful, sacred and secular, truth and
fantasy. After children read the book they will be ready to discover
the important truths about God.

Please RSVP by March 8th to Debbi Hoagland at 740-974-7909 or

Becky Hoagland at 740-974-7511.
Mission Spotlight ~ Christian Childrens Home of Ohio
The kids get to trade them in. I remember when this home first began. It was 1969 and
I was the church secretary in my home church. Back then, we, the church staff, referred
to it as the Wooster Childrens Home even though their official name was always The
Christian Childrens Home of Ohio. Through the years, the home has changed with the
times. I remember them having one home, one set of house parents (who wore many
hats), a director, a counselor, and a secretary. Today they have broadened their program
to include therapy horse lessons, an event center, and a retreat center.
I cant imagine what it was like for the kids to go to a strange place not knowing what to
expect. All they knew was their own unhappy experiences.
Happily, the kids get to trade in their heartaches for new and sweeter stories to tell. They
get to be a part of healthy and loving families. They get a chance to hear their painful
pasts can be healed. Best of all, they get to know the greatest person who ever lived.
We call Him Lord!

The Story Tellers Collection Book 2, includes stories by Chuck

Colson, Terri Blackstock, Randy Alcorn, Robin Lee Hatcher, Karen
Kingsbury, and many more authors. Discover as the familiar becomes
new again when these gifts communicators open their hearts to create
stories that will delight and inspire you. Come watch and wonder as
an Oklahoma boy climbs a tower in search of true courage as a
nurse in New York finds hope in the grace of a child as a husband in
the Ozarks catches the Big One as a young girl on the Wyoming
prairies prays the impossible. Its time. Come HOME to wonder. To
adventure. To life. To the gift God has waiting for you in these
universal stories from those whose hearts like yours long for home.

Daniel is one of these young people. He never met his father, his mother is a drug addict
and lost custody of her children early in 2014. His siblings are living in several foster
homes. Daniel was abused and doesnt trust most people. He is a year behind in school
and has behavior issues. But his story is not yet complete. One day, with Gods help, he
will come to believe he can have good things life has to offer. He can have a second
chance!
Please pray for Daniel and others in their care, that they begin to heal and thrive in spite
of their hardships to this point. We support them with $150.00 a month.
