BASIC FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM

The following
products are used to
create an MXL fire
protection system.
Those that are used
in every system are
highlighted. The
others are optional
and expand the
systems size and
features. (For more
detailed information
please refer to
Catalog Sheet
5000.)

MMB-2 The MXLs main board manages

up to 120 detectors/pull stations and 2
circuits for horns or strobes. It also
processes all commands within the system.
MPS-6 A 6 amp power supply. A 12-amp
version is available.
MKB-2 The main control panel for the MXL.
Includes system status LEDs, an LCD display
for system messages and function keys.
MME-3 The standard enclosure for MXL.
Other sizes are available.
FP-11 The FirePrint Fire Detector.
ALD-2I Provides additional circuits to
manage another 120 detectors/pull stations.
CSM-4 Provides additional circuits for horns
and strobes.
CRM-4 Provides relay outputs for controlling
devices such as door holders.

Main MXL Enclosure

Remote MXL Enclosure

CZM-4 Allows existing conventional detectors (not addressable) to report to the MXL.
MOM-4/2 Card cages for mounting system
modules.
TSP-40 A thermal strip printer housed in the
MXL enclosure.
PIM-1 A port for driving an external printer.
It can also be configured to manage a Video
Display Terminal (MXL-VDT).
MOI-Series Input and Output modules to
control graphic LED annunciators.

The following list of equipment is used when

MXL hardware must be installed in remote
enclosures:
PSR-1 A remote power supply/control board
supports additional MXL modules as the
system expands.
PAD-2 A self contained 6 amp power supply
with 4 additional circuits for horns and
strobes.
NET-4/7 Network interface modules used to
communicate between the MXLs main board
and equipment housed in remote enclosures.
NIM-1R A network interface module
used when 2 or more MXLs must share
information.
RCC-1/2/3 Remote control centers that
mimic the MXLs main control panel (MKB-2).
NCC-G A PC- based control center for all
MXL systems with an intuitive user interface.

The following modules can be housed in

either location.

Main MXL enclosures house the

following system
components:
MMB-2 Main Board
MPS-6 Power Supply
MKB-2 Control Panel

Remote enclosures house:

PSR-1 Power

NETWORKED FIRE SYSTEM

Individual MXL
Systems can be
expanded as
shown in the
Basic MXL
System diagram.
The NIM-1R
module is used
when multiple
MXL systems
must share
information.

Networked Fire Systems can have multiple points of control and/or

annunciation. Each protected facility has a unique fire response plan.
MXL and FireFinder NCCNT can be assembled to meet any variety of
response plans as required by building owners or local codes.

MXL NETWORKED SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

The principle system architectures or wiring
methods in use today are Bus, Star, and
Loop. They can also be described as Daisy
Chain, T-Tap, and Ring respectively. MXL
Networks support all of these configurations as well as hybrids or combinations.
This can help to reduce the overall network
cost.

The complex
nature of most
facilities or campus
environments
dictates a need for
wiring flexibility.

MXL Networks can utilize either NFPA

Style 4 or 7 configurations along with both
standard copper wire and fiber optic cable
or combinations of copper and fiber optic
cable.
