With the exception of the differential pressure values

and sl ight differences In components. the system is the same in a 11 three

m9dels.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM

Cabl n a1t1 tude is lIlai ntlli ned by control11 ng the ra. til at wltl ch compressed

air is al10wed to escape the cabin.' That is the basic idea behind cabin
pressurization. The turbo-charger pumps air into thu pressure capsule,
and the pressure centrol

s~stem

simPly. controis the rate at which the air

escapes the cabin to maintain a desired cabin pressure or cabin altitudE.

(Refer to

Sch~tic

on page 8).

The air exits the cabln throvgh the outflow valve. If we decrease the
rate at which air exits the cabin through the outflO\'/ velve, cabin pressure
increases.

If we lncreas~.~~e outflow ofcabin air, cabin pressure decreases.

This outflow valve is a slave to the controller. which is mounted in the

instrument panel and 15 pilot controlled. The controller allows the pilot
to select the cabin altitude and the cabin altitude rate of change.

Let's look at the components of the systsm one at a time.
