SECTION 2

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

SECTION 2.1 - REQUIREMENTS

The following are required to install the LCPDFR Modification:

A genuine, working Microsoft Windows (PC) platform copy of Grand Theft Auto IV or Grand Theft Auto: Episodes
from Liberty City, updated to the latest version (1.0.7.0 for GTA IV, 1.1.2.0 for EFLC)
Version 4.5 of Microsofts .Net Framework
Approximately 50 MB of free storage space in your GTA IV or EFLC directory.
Permissions to read and write files and folders within your GTA IV or EFLC directory.

SECTION 2.2 - GETTING STARTED

Before proceeding with any installation, it is important to make sure that everything is correct and ready to go first.
The LCPDFR Manual Installation comes as a compressed (.zip) folder, which can simply be extracted into your root
GTA IV or EFLC directory, which is the folder that contains GTAIV.exe or EFLC.exe.
Secondly, make sure that you uninstall any existing version of LCPDFR before installing LCPDFR 1.0. Leaving
LCPDFR 0.95 or any previous versions installed will result in conflicts and errors.

SECTION 2.3 - EXTRACTING THE COMPRESSED FOLDER

We recommend using WinRar for this process, although it is not strictly necessary. The compressed folders utility
of Windows will work fine as well, although the following instructions relate to WinRar, which can be downloaded (for
free), here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
To copy the compressed folder to your GTA IV (or EFLC) directory, simply follow these steps:
1. Locate the folder (LCPDFR 1.0 Manual Install.zip) in the directory to which you downloaded it. In most cases,
this will be your Downloads folder under your Windows username.
2. Right click on the folder and select Extract files... from the menu that pops up.
3. Using the Windows navigation menu on the right hand side of the new window, browse to your GTA IV or EFLC
root folder (the one that contains the GTAIV.exe or EFLC.exe).
4. Once you have successfully navigated to the folder, the path in the top left of the window should update with the
new location, and it should look something like this:

G17 media

5. Now, ensuring that your window looks similar to the one above, where the root GTA IV or EFLC folder is selected,
click OK to begin the extraction process.
6. The WinRar archiver will now extract the contents of the LCPDFR Manual Installation folder into your root GTA
IV or EFLC directory.
7. After the extraction has finished, navigate to the root GTA IV or EFLC folder, it should now look something like this:

Of course, this will not be an exact representation of your GTA IV (or in this case, EFLC, directory), but the important
things to note are that:

The LCPDFR folder is present.

The LCPDFR Install (ASI Loaders) folder is present.
The en-US folder is present.
The LCPD First Response.dll file is present.
The AdvancedHook.dll file is present.
The AdvancedHookInit.asi file is present.
The ScriptHookDotNet.asi file is present.
The ScriptHook.dll file is present.
The SlimDX.dll file is present.
The Lidgren.Network.dll file is present.

SECTION 2.4 - SELECTING AN ASI LOADER

The LCPDFR Install (ASI Loaders) folder contains two .dll files, which are ASI Loaders, which load .asi files into the
game when it is loaded. These are critical for all script modifications to function in GTA IV or EFLC, and therefore you
must have one ASI Loader installed.

G17 media

The two ASI Loaders included in the LCPDFR Install folder are:

dsound.dll, by AlexanderBlade
xlive.dll, by Listener

Please note that there are significant differences between each ASI Loader. Firstly, dsound.dll, by AlexenderBlade,
is compatible with the multiplayer aspect of GTA IV and EFLC. Xlive.dll, by Listener, on the other hand, completely
disables Games for Windows Live integration with GTA IV and EFLC, therefore disabling the mutliplayer aspect of
the game.
Unless you wish to use LCPDFR, or other scripts, in multiplayer gameplay, we recommend installing the xlive.dll ASI
Loader, because of the added stability enhancements provided by disabling Games for Windows Live. This ASI Loader
also disables the need to sign in to GFWL to play the game.

SECTION 2.5 - INSTALLING AN ASI LOADER

Installing an ASI Loader is simple. All you need to do is copy your selected ASI Loader, either xlive.dll or dsound.dll,
out of the LCPDFR Install folder and into the root GTA IV/EFLC folder. Note that in the screenshot of the EFLC root
folder on the page above, xlive.dll is present.
Finally, once the ASI Loader has been installed, you may delete the LCPDFR Install (ASI Loaders) folder, and the
contents within it.

SECTION 2.6 - VERIFYING INSTALLATION SUCCESS

If you wish to verify that all LCPDFR files and folders have been successfully installed, please refer to the LCPDFR
User Documentation, provided with the modification, which contains a list of files and folders and where they should
be installed.

SECTION 2.7 - NOTICE FOR USERS UPDATING FROM LCPDFR 0.95

If you are upgrading from a previous version of LCPDFR, please note that many of the file structures are different in
LCPDFR 1.0. Specifically, LCPDFR no longer requires you to edit any of the original game files.
In LCPDFR 0.95, it was required that amb_nailgun.wdr and amb_nailgun.wtd in pc/models/cdimages/weapons.img
be replaced with the Taser model provided and that WeaponInfo.xml at common/data/WeaponInfo.xml be replaced
with the customized configuration provided. This is no longer the case, and LCPDFR now uses a file injection hook
to inject the necessary file edits into the games memory when it loads. As such, you should revert any file edits
made for previous versions of LCPDFR to avoid conflicts with the new system. Failing to revert the WeaponInfo.xml
(either by removing the section for Unused0 or reverting to the original file), will result in problems arising related to
the Taser in LCPDFR 1.0.

SECTION 2.8 - ADDING YOUR CRIME STATISTICS KEY

If you wish to link your LCPDFR gameplay with your LCPDFR.com user account, you can do so by adding your API
Key into the LCPDFR Configuration File. More information can be found about the LCPDFR Configuration File in the
LCPDFR User Docuementation, although it is the lcpdfr.ini file, located in the root LCPDFR folder in your root GTA
IV or EFLC directory. Do note that this step is entirely optional, and following it will simply result in your gameplay
statistics, like arrests made and backup units called being recorded by our servers, entered into our leaderboards and
displayed on the real-time live Crime Statistics wall, found here: www.lcpdfr.com/crimestats

G17 media

To add your API Key, you must first generate one on your LCPDFR.com user account. To do this, go to the LCPDFR
website, located at www.lcpdfr.com and follow these steps:
1.
2.
3.
4.

If you have an LCPDFR account, sign in with it. If not, you can create one in a matter of seconds.
Once logged into your account, head to: www.lcpdfr.com/page/csapikeygen
Follow the instructions on the page to generate your API key for LCPDFR.
Copy your new API Key, and add it to the LCPDFR Configuration File like so:

Therefore, if your API Key was XASG-26236-SAFV2, the line would look like APIKey=XASG-26236-SAFV2

SECTION 2.9 - FURTHER CONFIGURING LCPDFR 1.0

Please refer to the LCPDFR User Documentation for details on how to further configure your LCPDFR 1.0 Installation,
including instructions on how to customize keyboard and controller keys and edit settings.

PLEASE NOW REFER TO THE LCPDFR USER DOCUMENTATION FOR
