WHY ISMEXICAN BIBLE

SEMINARY NEEDED?
By Harland Gary. Pres., Colegio
Biblico

We could answer this question by

asking oneWhy is it necessary to
have any Bible college in the United
States besides Ozork Bible College?
It is located almost in the center of

the United States. Or maybe this

question would help youWhy have
any church in Long Beach, Calif, be
sides the First Christian Church? It

has a beautiful building. It is loyal

to the Gospel. It is evangelistic.
With all the good we can say about
these worthy organizations, they
are not able to complete the task
alone. I am sure that we all wish

Mr. and Mrs

Macario Martinez

need to be in competition with any

SHEEP STEALERS?
A

reader wonders

that Long Beach had fifteen churches

First Church. Each one could
find plenty to do and would not
like

why we re

joiced so greatly when Bro. Mar

tinez led the small Pentecostal con

gregation in Cochibampo to make

its stand ior New Testament Chris

tianity. Are we just a sect stealing

members from another sect? In an

swer we quote from the writings

of the pioneer Restoration preacher,
Isaac Errett: "In this age of division
and distraction, we esteem it

our

especial duty to call Christians

from the confusions of the apostasy
to the order and harmony of the
primitive church; from human creeds
and philisophies to the Bible; from
party to Christ; from denominational
names and interests, to the symetry
and perfection of the Body of Christ;
from speculative theology, which
divides, to the faith and love of
Christ, which unite; from all that
tends to alienation and partyism, to
the units and unity which apostolic
teachings present. There is one Body
and one Spirit, even as ye are called

other. In about two minutes recol

lection I can count fifteen Bible col

leges in the U.S. which I consider

worthy efforts. Mexico is about onethird the size of the United States.

According to this ratio I should be

able, after a moment's thought, to
count five Mexican Bible colleges!
The second point is thisI be
lieve the economy of two small
schools is greater than that of one
large school. This year we have had
three students in Colegio Biblico
from

the

state

of Sonora in

West

ern Mexico. It has cost us and them

about seventy dollars apiece to get

them into school, while the ones
from the state of Coahuila (the state
closest to us) each cost about twen
ty dollars.
The third and most important
point is thiswe can recruit at least
one-third more boys for the ministry.
When you start talking to a boy,
who has never been over thirty miles
from the house where he was born,
about going fifteen hundred miles
from home for nine months and into

foreign

him.

he will be close

enough that he can get home at

in one hope of your calling; one

Christmas' time,

Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one

valiant about going. Let us turn

on the light of the Gospel in Mexi
co by training all the preachers
possible.
