All Exams will consist of fill in sections. Team Challenges are project
assessments measuring the students ability to work within a Team Structure. Video Cases
analysis measures the individual students competencies in applying management concepts in a
complex situation. No Extra Credit will be authorized for this class. Make up Exams must
have the approval of the instructor and may not be taken during a scheduled class session.
Attendance is important in this class...so important, that a student will lose (2) points for each
class missed. If you did not sign the attendance sheet when one was circulated in classyou
were not in class.

WITHDRAW / INCOMPLETE
The last day to Withdraw from this class with the grade of W is April 15th, 2015. A Student
who stops attending class for any reason is responsible for processing and completing their own
withdrawal at Admission and Records. Failure to do so will cause the student to be assigned an F
for the course. The last day to remove an Incomplete for this course is October 1st 2016. A
student will not be authorized to carry an incomplete for this class without the written permission
from the instructor that outlines the terms and conditions that will satisfy the course requirements.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

BADM 1121 Principles of Management: Introduction to management principles, concepts,


and skills employed in operation of a business organization. A special Emphasis will concentrate
on the Management functions of planning, organizing, staffing, leading, controlling, and decisionmaking.
COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of BADM-1120, the student should be able to:


A. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental importance of management in terms of its interest, functions,
and responsibilities.
B. Understand quantitative methods such as decision trees, trend analysis, cost benefit analysis, ratio analysis.
C. Use statistical techniques common to production systems.
D. Explain statistical process control.
E. Use what if analysis.
F. Understand Delphi, nominal group, and brainstorming techniques.
G. Conduct financial analysis of income statements and balance sheet.
H. Describe the relationship between the necessity for effective planning and the success of any organization.
I. Describe the principles that make various organizational structures operational.
J. Explain the directing and motivational functions which involve leadership and communications.
K. Define the control function and describe its importance to the management process.
L. Demonstrate an understanding of ways of selecting, training, and evaluating personnel.
M. Demonstrate an understanding of budgetary and non budgetary methods of control
