Scenario
You have recently started a new role as a senior manager in a small but rapidly growing organisation.
The managing director is not a human resource specialist so she has asked you to oversee the
human resource function of the business. She believes that this role may become too large as the
business continues to grow. She would like you to investigate human resource management issues
further in order to develop a deeper understanding of:

As the organisation continues to grow, the managing director has asked you to prepare a clear and
informative guide to help her understand the importance of human resource management and
implementation strategies.
Your information guide must cover the following topics:
a) a definition of strategic human resource management
identification and analysis of the contemporary issues affecting strategic human resource
management.

You will need to produce a presentation for her, the accompanying notes for the presentation and
have appropriate hand-outs for the board detailing the information covered.
