Installing the Master License Key (MLK) on a


CE HMI device

Validity
The Master License Key activates a software product for which a UCL or EPL contract
exists.
The described function is only possible on Windows CE HMI devices that have an operating
system version WinCC flexible 2007 or higher.

MLK- Master License Key


Some options for HMI devices with Windows CE are provided with license protection. As a
rule License Keys are therefore installed on the HMI device that are queried by the software
of the HMI device. The license query installed in the software is deactivated by means of a
MLK (Master License Key). Instead, a customer-specific identifier is stored.
When Runtime is started, the following is displayed in a splash screen:
The customer-specific identifier
The list of the installed options or MLKs
The MLK is transferred using ProSave or WinCC flexible.

Conditions
The CD with the required MLK is inserted in the PC.
ProSave is installed on the PC. Alternatively, use WinCC flexible to transfer the MLK.

Procedure for installing MLK


1. Connect the HMI device to the PC in accordance with the selected transfer type.
2. Check the parameters for the desired transfer type on the HMI device and switch to
"Transfer" mode.
3. From within WinCC flexible:
Select the "Project > Transfer > Transfer settings" command in the menu.
The transfer settings dialog box is displayed.
Select the HMI device type and enter the transfer parameters.
Select the "Project > Transfer > Options" command in the menu.
4. ProSave standalone:
Start ProSave and select the "General" tab.
Select the HMI device type.
Enter the connection and connection parameters.
Go to the "Options" tab.
5. Under "Select:" navigate to the CD drive in which the CD with the MLK is inserted.
The MLK of the inserted CD is displayed in the left-hand window on the "Options" tab.
6. Select the MLK in the left-hand window.
7. In order to transfer the MLK, click ">>".
The selected MLK is transferred to the HMI device and then displayed in the right-hand
window.

Result
You have transferred the MLK to the HMI device.
