IBM US optics group sold to JDSU. Product marketing/management roles through to transition of operations
from USA to Singapore. JDSU is the leading provider of communications test and measurement solutions
and optical transport products for telecom providers, cable operators, and network equipment manufacturers.

Worked as Marketing Chair with global leaders of information appliance industry to promote implementation
of optical technology for cord-free connectivity between information appliances and consumer electronic

Senior Product Line Manager Tundra
Manager of several complex product lines ( P&L responsibility) and product strategist. Owned roadmaps,
MRD's, PRD's, ECN's, PCN's, EOL's product business cases, NPI team leadership and executive gate
reviews, pricing, partner and customer programs, cost reduction programs, long-term product business
projections and monthly/quarterly reporting. Led annual face-face portfolio price negotiations at top accounts,
approval point for all other quotes. Member of product investment strategy task force.

• Grew margin % by 4 points and drove new PCIe bridges; over-achieved margin objectives.

Marketing Operations Manager IBM
Managed a team of marketing and application engineering professionals, and the quality manager. Products
included high-speed serial optical transceivers, telecom transport IC’s, and optical add/drop multiplexors.
Responsible for a $1.5M product marcomm budget, leads, training, design-ins, customization, promotion.
• Met design-in objectives and implemented promotion strategies generating $20M/yr in new sales.

Market Development Manager IBM


Managed a strategic product / marketing alliance. Responsible for joint project management of product
planning, development, marketing, pricing, forecasting, quality issue management, and standards body
activity. Managed a complex optical wireless personal area network hardware and software offering from
opportunity identification through to market introduction. Created a consortium for its adoption and
promotion. Consultant to IBM Research on short-range wireless applications, markets for their research
investments strategy.
• Within 18 months of market entry, the alliance was dominating the industry with a 60% share.

Sales / Marketing Manager IBM


Led sales unit responsible for $35 million revenue and customer satisfaction objectives. Customer
satisfaction, revenue attainment, personnel development, sales presentations, RFP responses, negotiations.

Elected four consecutive on-year terms as the Industry Association’s Marketing Chair. Launched IrDA’s web
site, developers conference, press and industry relations programs. Developed executive liaison with leaders
at Microsoft, HP, IBM, Toshiba, Nokia, Ericsson and NTT.
