Exercise 1
1. Start a new Part file and invoke the Sketcher environment after selecting the YZ
plane as the sketching plane.
2. Choose the Profile button from the Profile toolbar.
3. Click on a point whose coordinates are 0,70 and then move the cursor vertically
downward.
4. Press the left mouse button, when the cursor is at the origin.
5. Move the cursor toward the right and click on the point with coordinates 100, 0.
6. Move the cursor vertically upward and click on the point whose coordinates are
100,70.
7. Choose the Tangent Arc button form the Sketch tools toolbar and click on the
point whose coordinates are 80,90.
8. Move the cursor horizontally toward the left and click on the point whose
coordinates are 20,90.
9. Again choose the Tangent Arc button form the Sketch tools toolbar and click on
start point of the first vertical line.
10. Double click the Circle button from the Circle toolbar and click on the point whose
coordinates are 20,70.
11. Move the cursor to a location where the radius of the arc in the R edit box of the
Sketch tools toolbar displays a value of 10mm and click to specify a point.
12. Click on the point with coordinates 80,70 and move the cursor to a location where
the radius of the arc in the R edit box of the Sketch tools toolbar displays a value
of 10mm and click to specify a point.
13. Choose the Profile button from the Profile toolbar.
14. Click on a point whose coordinates are 30,20 and then move the cursor horizontally
toward the left.
15. Click on the point whose coordinates are 70,20.
16. Choose the Tangent Arc button form the Sketch tools toolbar and click on the
point whose coordinates are 70,40.
17. Move the cursor toward the left and click on the point with coordinates 30,40.
18. Choose the Tangent Arc button form the Sketch tools toolbar and click on the
start point of the profile.
19. This completes the Exercise 1 hence save the file by choosing the Save button and
entering the appropriate file name and path in the Save As dialog box.

Exercise 2
1. Select File > Close from the menu bar to close the file. Start CATIA V5 and close
the Product1 file that opens by default.
2. To open a new file in Part Design workbench, choose File > New from the menu
bar.
3. Select Part from the NEW dialog box and choose OK.
4. Choose the Sketcher button from the Sketcher toolbar and then select the YZ
plane as the sketching plane, to invoke the Sketcher environment.
5. Invoke the Line tool by choosing the Line button from the Profile toolbar.
6. Choose the Snap to Point button from the Sketch tools toolbar, if not already
chosen.
7. Click on a point whose coordinates are 0,0 (origin) and then move the cursor
horizontally towards the right.
8. Press the left mouse button, when the length of line in the L edit box of the Sketch
tools toolbar displays a value of 150mm.
9. Choose the Line button again and click on the end point of the previously created
line.
10. Move the cursor vertically upward and click on the point whose coordinates are
150,100.
11. Choose the Three Point Arc tool form the Circle toolbar and click on the endpoint
of the previously created vertical line.
12. Press TAB key once to highlight the value in the H edit box of the Sketch tools
toolbar and enter 125 in it.
13. Again press the TAB key and enter 125mm in the highlighted V edit box and press
ENTER.
14. Move the curser and click on a point whose location is 100,100 to create the top
arc.
15. Choose the Line button and select the left end point of the previously created arc
as the start point.
16. Move the cursor vertically downward and click when the length of line in the L edit
box of the Sketch tools toolbar displays a value of 10mm.
17. Choose the Line button from the Profile toolbar and select the point whose
coordinates are 0,40.
18. Move the cursor and click on a point whose location is 50,40 to create a horizontal
line.
19. Choose the Three Point Arc Starting With Limits button from the Circle toolbar
and select the end point of the last horizontal line created and then select a point of
the last vertical line created.
20. Move the cursor toward the right and click when the radius of the arc in the R edit
box of the Sketch tools toolbar displays a value of 50mm.
21. Again choose the Three Point Arc Starting With Limits button from the Circle
toolbar and click at the origin.
22. Move the cursor vertically upward and specify a point whose coordinates are 0,10.
23. Move the cursor towards the left and click when the radius of the arc in the R edit
box of the Sketch tools toolbar displays a value of 20mm.
24. Double-click the Circle button from the Circle toolbar and click on the center point
of the top arc.
25. Press the TAB key thrice and enter 11 in the highlighted R edit box of the Sketch
tools toolbar and press the ENTER key to create the circle.
26. Now select the center point of the left arc and move the cursor to a location where
the radius of the arc in the R edit box of the Sketch tools toolbar displays a value
of 10mm.
27. Press the ESC key to exit the active tool
28. This completes the Exercise 1 hence save the file by choosing the Save button and
entering the appropriate file name and path in the Save As dialog box.
29. Select File > Close from the menu bar to close the file.

Exercise 1
1. Start a new Part file and invoke the Sketcher environment after selecting the YZ

2. Invoke the Circle tool and draw circle of radius 40 units at the origin and of radius
20 units at the points with coordinates 130,80 and 130,-80.
3. Double-click the Bi-Tangent Line button from the Line toolbar.
4. Select the circle on the left and then the circle on the top, a bi-tangent line is
created between the two selected circles. Make sure to select the circle, click closer
to the point where tangency should be maintained on the circle.
5. Select the circle on the left and then the circle on the bottom.
6. Select the circle on the top of and the circle on the bottom.
7. Invoke the Elongated Hole tool from the Predefined Profile toolbar.
8. To specify the center line of the elongated hole click at 120,0 and move the cursor
horizontally towards left and then click at 60,0
9. Next, to specify the radius of the elongated hole move the cursor and click when
the value 10mm is displayed in the Radius edit box.
10. Invoke the Quick Trim tool from the Operation toolbar and trim the unwanted
elements.
11. Invoke the Circle tool and draw circle of radius 30 units at the origin and of radius
10 units at the points with coordinates 130,80 and 130,-80.
12. Save the file.

Exercise 2
1. Start a new Part file and invoke the Sketcher environment after selecting the YZ
plane as the sketching plane.
2. Invoke the Line tool and draw the outer profile of the sketch. You also need to
invoke the arc tool from within the Line tool.
3. Using the Cylindrical Elongated Hole tool draw the profile of the elongated slot.
4. Draw the elliptical profile using the Ellipse tool.

5. Draw the sketch of the center curve of the rib feature that will be used to remove
the material from the base feature. This sketch consists of an arc (R108).
6. Apply the required constraints and exit the Sketcher workbench.
7. Invoke the Sketcher workbench by selecting the left planar face.

8. Draw the sketch of the profile (R75) using which you will remove the material from
the base feature. Note that, the end point of the arc R108 and quadrant point of the
