Adjusting accelerator position sender -G79- vehicles with 6-cylinder engine

Vehicles with manual gearbox:
Note

Position of accelerator pedal stop: markingH

or HS must be visible -arrow-.

If accelerator position sender -G79- has been

removed:
Fit cable cam in the position shown.

In its rest position, the continuation of the

spanner flat should intersect with the centre of
the drilling -arrow-.
Install accelerator position sender with preassembled cable cam.

Procedure


Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information

system -VAS 5051B- is connected; vehicle selfdiagnosis and vehicle system 01 - Engine
electronics is selected. When doing this, the
ignition must be switched on.

Display on -VAS 5051B From the list -1- select diagnostic function 08 Read measured value block.

Display on -VAS 5051B In zone -2- enter 2 for display group 002 and
confirm the entry by pressing the Q key.

Disengage eyelet of operating rod -1- from

accelerator pedal -arrow-.
Remove locating element (cable tie).
Turn threaded collar on operating rod.
Note
The 100 % display should be reached exactly
when the pedal contacts the full throttle stop. If
100 % is reached before the pedal contacts the

stop, turn back the threaded collar accordingly.

After completing adjustment, carefully engage
operating rod on accelerator pedal.
Check values shown in display zone 3.

Accelerator pedal depressed

 Specification: 0 0 0

Fit new locating element (cable tie).

Press the button to exit from the function 08 - Read
measured value block.
Press 06 - End output.
Switch off ignition.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox:
The adjustment procedure is the same as for
vehicles with manual gearbox, except for the
following points:

When making the adjustment, the accelerator

pedal stop must first be fitted in the position for
vehicles with manual gearbox: Marking H or
HS must be visible.
With this stop installed, adjust full throttle
position in the same way as for vehicles with
manual gearbox (readout in display zone 2:
100 %).
After completing the adjustment, install the
accelerator pedal stop in the position for
vehicles with automatic gearbox -arrows-:
Marking A or AG must be visible.

Then check kickdown switch:

Check values shown in display zone 3.
