outfit

Talk about peoples features,
clothes, and accessories.

DONT FORGET
When giving physical descriptions, the two
most common verbs to use are TO BE and
TO HAVE, however, they are used for specific
features.
We use the verb to be to describe, height,
weight, and skin colour.
I am medium height.
Albert is overweight.
We use the verb to have to describe, hair
(length), hair (style), hair (colour) and facial
features.
I have curly hair.
Patrick has long hair.
Tony is tall and has medium length hair.

It is very difficult to know people when we meet them for the first time
without speaking. Even though the language is the base of
communication, our gestures, clothes, hairstyle, and body language have
great importance because they are the first contact we have with other
people. They are symbols of our culture, personal beliefs, or membership
of a particular social group. Nowadays, fashion plays a very important role
in the way we present ourselves. It has to do not only with our clothes, but
the way we talk, the way we express ourselves, the music we listen to, and
the groups of people we choose to share with.
Nobody can deny the influence of fashion. Each of us is constantly
affected by it in one way or another. Messages of fashion are found in both
print and electronic media, and play and important role in shaping our
lifestyles. These days, even anti fashionistas are making their own fashion
statements. As Cecil Beaton said, the truly fashionable are beyond
fashion.

Use the verb wear for clothing you have on


your body. Use the suffix ing after the verb to
describe what clothing you have on right now, at
this moment.
I am wearing a shirt, jeans, and shoes.
She is wearing a blouse, skirt, sandals,
and a necklace.
He is wearing a shirt, pants, boots, and a
watch.
They are wearing t-shirts and shorts.
