BEASTLY; WHEN BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN-DEEP (an adaptation of a movie)

The Synopsis:
Kyle Kingston is rich, gorgeous, he truly has it all. He is very arrogant and rude. He is selected
as the new school president due to his popularity. He only dates the hottest girls and makes
friends with good looking people in his school. Lindy Taylor, a simple-looking girl has been
working as Kyles secretary during the election of the school president and has been observing
Kyles true nature all this while. One night at a party, Kendra who is humiliated by Kyle in front
of schoolmates, and her accomplice Shayne, reveal themselves to be witches and punishes him
for his cruelty by condemning him to live as a beast. It turns out that Kyle transforms himself
into an unattractive guy with hideous face and all his friends ditch him for that reason. Since
then, Kyle hides himself from the public. His maid and his home tutor have been trying to
rebuild his spirit and strength but Kyle feels that hope is already gone. There is only one way for
Kyle to be released from the spell a girl has to fall in love with his true self and say the three
magical words I love you in one year or Kyle will have to stay beastly for the rest of his life.

Scene 1:
Narrator: It is early in the morning. The school hall is noisy with students gossiping about the
new school president, Kyle Kingston.
Ashley: Hi Justin! Hi Danny.
Justin and Danny: Hi Ashley!
Ashley: How was your weekend?
Justin: It was awesome!
Danny: Cool and good!
(Announcement: Announcing the new school president of Jempol High School, Kyle Kingston!)
Ashley: I knew it. I knew it.
Nicky: (running towards Ashley, Justin and Danny) Ashley! Ashley! Have you heard the news?
Kyle Kingston is the new school president for this year! (hugging the poster)
Ashley: We were just talking about him. Right guys?
Justin & Danny: Oh no. Not again.
Nicky: Look, hes coming.
(Kyle is walking with her girlfriend, Chloe. Lindy, his temporary secretary for the school
election accompanies them)
Ashley: Isnt he gorgeous?
Nicky: Yes, hes the most handsome boy in the school.
Justin: I dont believe it. Oh no! Thats not fair! Hes rich, hes popular and he has everything he
wants. Oh I am so jealous of him.
Danny: Yes! Hes lucky indeed. And now hes the school President!
Kyle: Hi, losers! You chose the best man. Thank you.
Chloe: Step out of our Presidents way.
(Kyle, Chloe and Lindy walk pass the students)
Nicky & Ashley: We voted for you Kyle.
Lindy: Thank you guys. The President will not disappoint you.

Kyle: Alright! Alright! Tonight I, Kyle Kingston, the rich, the popular and the good-looking guy
will throw a party to celebrate my victory. Youre all invited but please, try to be cool. I dont
want ugly pathetic people around. You, ugly, out.
(Kyle, Chloe, Stacey, Ashley, Justin and Danny leave the stage.)
Lindy: (alone to herself) Oh Kyle, why do you have to be so rude. I know you are a good person.
I know it. (Leave the stage)
Kendra: (from behind, having watched the entire scene). Kyle, Kyle, you think you can mistreat
everyone. You dont know what youre doing. I know why you invited me to the party. Kyle my
sweet, you will pay for all the harm you cause.
Shayne: Kendra honey, that is very evil of you. Tell me sweetie, what is the plan? Tell me. Tell
me.
Kendra: You will see.
Shayne: Ooh drama. Count me in.
(Leave the stage)

Scene 2:
(At the party)
Situation: Students are dancing to the loud music. Lindy is at one corner, while watching Kyle
and Chloe dancing.
Chloe: Oh Kyle, you look so good, as always. You are the best-looking guy at the party!
Kyle: I know Chloe, I know. I am sure you would love me even if I werent so popular, would
you.
Chloe: Are you kidding me?! I will never leave you darling.
Lindy: Shes so greedy!
Chloe: What did you say?
Lindy: Oh, your dress, your dress is so pretty!
Chloe: Yes, I know.
(Kendra walks pass Kyle and Chloe)

Kyle: Theres the witch. I will play a joke on her.(approaching Kendra) Hi, you look weird,
again. You want to dance?
Kendra: Hi, Kyle. Very sarcastic, again.
Kendra: (Dancing) You know Kyle, sometime people think they have everything they want and
that it will last forever.
Kyle: Thats me. Ha ha.
Kendra: Well, you should think things better. One day you may lose everything you have and
whats worse, you will need other people to help you out.
Kylie: (laughing) Ha ha, listen everybody. The witch said I will not be popular anymore. Can
you believe that?! Ha ha ha.
Students: (laughing and pointing to the witch) Ha ha ha haha.
Shayne: Stop! Dont laugh at her!
Students: (laughing at Shayne) Hahahahaha
Ashley: Loser!
Danny: Weirdo!
Kendra: I warned you Kyle and you didnt want to hear! Shayne!
(Shayne walks to Kendra and together they spell a curse on Kyle)
Shayne & Kendra: You will turn to a beast until you find true love in your heart.
Kyle: (still laughing, feels sick and goes to the toilet, returns and his face has changed to a
monster. All the students are shocked when they see Kyle.)
Kyle: Chloe honey, lets dance.
Nicky: Whats this?! Who are you?
Kyle: Its me, Kyle.
Chloe: No! You are a beast! Go away!
Kyle: But Chloe..
Chloe: Dont touch me! You are disgusting!
Justin is blocking Kyle from getting closer to Chloe.

Kyle: Stay away.

Justin: No, you stay away. (push Kyle. Kyle falls on the floor) Come on everyone. Lets leave
this beast alone.
(All students leave Kyle. Lindy looks at Kyle before she leaves.)
Lindy: (terrified, feels pity, to herself) What happened to him?

Scene 3:
(At home)
Narrator: It turns out that the rich, handsome and popular guy in the school has become the
most revolted person with a hideous face. Everyone who used to be Kyles friends is keeping
their distance from Kyle. Therefore, Kyle just hides himself at home.
Kyle: Oh.. my face. Its so ugly. My friends, my girlfriend.. They all left me. Even my dad and
my mom, they are always on business trips. I am all alone now.
Kyle looks at himself on the mirror. He screams and weeps when he sees his ugly face. He kneels
on the floor and curls himself. Suddenly the witch and her friend appear.
Kendra: Well.. well.. look who is in pain now?
Shayne: Let me see your face pretty boy.. oohh not pretty anymore.. you look like a beast.
Kyle: You witch! You have ruined my life!
Kendra: Thats the point honey.
Shayne: Karma has just slapped you in your face. Your face honey.
Kyle: Why?
Kendra: I have warned you Kyle, one day you would lose everything you have and only then
you would appreciate what you have lost.
Kyle: Please make this go away! I dont want to be ugly. Please! I have learnt my lesson.
Kendra: You have learnt nothing. Find someone who can see you better than you can.
Shayne: Find someone who can love you for who you are or stay like this forever.
Kendra: Too bad with this unattractive look, no one would ever fall in love with you beast.

Kendra & Shayne: Hahahahaha (Leaving Kyle alone)

Kyle was devastated with his predicament. He weeps on the floor until he falls asleep. His maid,
Nola knocks on the door and brings him breakfast.
Nola: (knocks at the door) Kyle, open the door. I bring your breakfast. Open up!
Kyle: Go away, I dont want to see anyone.
Nola: Come on Kyle, your father is looking for the best doctors to treat you.
Kyle: Dont lie. My father thinks Im a monster. He is hiding me in this house. Everybody hates
me now.
Nola: Dont say that. You have many friends. Why dont you call them?
Kyle: Friends?! They only followed me because I was popular. Now I understand.
Nola: You have to eat, Kyle. I am so worried of you.
Kyle: Just leave me alone.
Nola puts the breakfast tray on the floor and leaves. A few minutes later, Professor Will Fratalli,
who is hired by Kyles Dad to be his home tutor arrives.
Professor: (knocks at the door)
Kyle: Leave me alone, I dont want to eat!
Prof: I am professor Will. Your father asked me to help you finish the school.
Kyle: What? A private teacher? Go away, you will not resist to teach a monster. You have never
seen anything thats horrible!
Prof: Dont worry, Kyle. I have never seen anything at all. I am blind! Now, open the door and
lets start the lessons.
Kyle opens the door and helps Professor Will to walk into the room.
Kyle: Oh, Im sorry. I didnt mean
Prof: Thats ok. My name is Will Fratalli and I was told you are very intelligent.
Kyle: Thank you Professor Will, Ill do my best. Would you like some biscuits? (from breakfast)
Prof: No, thanks. Here take this. (A book)

Kyle takes the book. They leave the room. Kyle is reading the book, Prof holding Kyles
shoulder.

Scene 4:
(At night)
Narrator: One night, Lindy is chased by a bad guy near Kyles neighborhood. She is left with
no choice but to run to Kyles house which is just around the corner.
Lindy: (desperately, knocking at the door) Help me please. Open the door. Help me.
Kyle: (checks through the hole of the door and sees her, he covers his face with a mask and
covers his head with the hood of his sweater. He opens the door. ) What happened?
Lindy: Please, help me, a man wanted to take my bag. He had a knife! He tried to kill me. Help
me please.
Kyle: What were you doing at this time walking alone in this place?
Lindy: I work at the drugstore nearby and I was on my way home. Help me. I am so scared.
Kyle: But you cannot stay here!
Lindy: Please, I live very far from here and I have lost my phone.
Kyle: Well, you can stay here until your parents fetch you.
Lindy: Thank you, you are very kind, thank you, thank you.
Kyle: Okay, okay. You can rest here (on the sofa). If you need anything, just call Nola. (pointing
to Nola)
Lindy: Okay. (Lindy rests on the sofa)
Kyle walks to Nola and Prof Will who have been watching them. Nola stops Kyle to find out
about the girl.
Nola: Kyle, whos that girl? Shes very pretty.
Prof: (joking) Yes, she is beautiful!
Nola: She may be a new friend. You were very kind to her and she knew that.
Prof: Maybe its time to think about love.

Kyle: No way. Who will be so stupid to love a monster?

Prof: Just try to be gentle. She seems to be a nice girl. She will love your heart, not your body.
Kyle: Ok, I will try.
That night, Kyle watches Lindy sleeping. He wraps a blanket on Lindy and walks to his room.
Nola: You really like this girl, Kyle?
Kyle: I dont know. There is this heavy feeling inside of me which is unexplained and I need to
let it out.
Nola: Love never happens without a confession. Be a man. Brave yourself, Kyle. Be sincere.
(Leave Kyle)

Scene 5
(The next morning)
Kyle: Good morning, I bring your breakfast.
Lindy: Oh thanks, you are a nice person. (Eating a biscuit) Can I ask you something?
Kyle: Yes. Shoot.
Lindy: Why do you cover your face?
Kyle: I, I had an accident and my face, its terrifying and
Lindy: Can I see it?
Kyle: (shyly reveals)
Lindy: Ive seen worst things.
Kyle smiles. They are staring into each other.
Kyle: Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?
Lindy: Certainly I would. But promise me one thing.
Kyle: What promise?
Lindy: Dont cover your face. Just be yourself.
Kyle: (smile) Sure.

Scene 6:
(The dinner)
Situation: Kyle and Lindy are having their dinner at Kyles house. Nola is busy preparing the
table for them while singing.
Nola: Oooh, they are having dinner together tonight. It will be the most romantic night. Finally,
love is in the air. Kyle, dinners ready!
Kyle appears. He looks dashingly stunning in his suit.
Nola: How stunning! Enjoy your dinner, Kyle. (Nola leaves)
Kyle is waiting for Lindy. He is holding a stem of rose in his hand. Then, Lindy arrives.
Kyle: Youre here. And you look so beautiful tonight.
Lindy: Thanks. Youre so sweet.
Kyle helps Lindy to seat by pulling the chair.
Kyle: You know Lindy, I want to tell you something really important.
Lindy: What is it?
Kyle: I think, I feel you are a great person and I have never met someone like you.
Lindy: I also feel the same. You are incredible. I wish there were more people like you.
Kyle: What do you mean?
Lindy: You have a heart of gold. Youve saved me from the villain and the way you are treating
me. It makes me feel like a princess.
Kyle: I just did what I thought was right.
Lindy: Kyle Actually I
(Suddenly Kendra and Shayne appear. They walk to the table while laughing.)
Kendra: Hello lovebirds.
Shayne: Having a good time? Aww.. how sweet.
Kyle: What are you doing here?

Kendra: We are here to see you. So, how are you dear ugly Kyle?
Shayne: We miss you. Oh one thing Lindy, dont you ever dare to confess your love to Kyle or
you will face the music.
Lindy: What are guys trying to do?
Kendra grabs Lindy from behind and tries to threaten her.
Lindy: Heyy , let me gooooo!
Kendra: Kyle darling. Look at this pretty innocent face. I wonder how does she look like if I
change her face into a beast, just like you?
Kyle gets up from the chair.
Kyle: Please dont hurt her.
Lindy: Help me Kyle.
Kyle tries to save Lindy but Shayne stops him and grabs Kyle from behind. Kyle struggles to
release himself from Shayne but fails. Kendra also drags Lindy far from Kyle.
Kyle: Let me go! Let me go!Let me go! Get off from me!
Shane: Try harder sweetie.
Kyle: Arghh! Please I beg you. Dont do anything to her.
Shayne: Isnt this romantic? The prince is trying to save his princess.
Kendra: I will let her go but with one condition. You must remain beastly for the rest of your
life.
Kyle: Ill do anything for her.
Lindy: No Kyle .Dont do that.
Kendra: Do you really want to be beastly for this girl?
Kyle: I would do anything for the one that I love.
Lindy: Is that true, Kyle?
Kyle: Yes Lindy, I love you. Kendra please dont hurt her.
Shayne: Kendra, I think he has learned his lesson. We should give him a second chance.
Kendra: Only the three words can release him from the spell.

Lindy: I love you too Kyle!

Kyle screams in pain and kneels on the floor. He turns to normal. Kendra releases Lindy and
Lindy approaches Kyle.
Lindy: Kyle, your face..
Kendra: I hope you have learnt something from this Kyle.
Shayne: Beauty is just skin deep. We dont fall in love with the outside. Its the inside that really
matters. Come honey, lets leave these lovebirds alone.
Shayne and Kendra leave the stage.
Kyle: Is that true Lindy the things that you said?
Lindy: Yes, I love you Kyle. I really mean it.
Kyle: I love you too Lindy.
Kyle and Lindy leave the stage.
Narrator: Just like a fairytale, they live happily ever after.
