General Objective

: 1. Knowing the shape, size and gravitational pull of the earth.


2. Knowing about the earths surface.
3. Knowing the shape and size of the sun.
4. Knowing the shape, size and surface conditions of the moon.

Lesson Objective : In this lesson, pupils make a summary of the information they
have learnt about the earth, sun and moon.
Prior Knowledge

: Pupils have learnt all the topics in the theme Earth and The
Universe, Year 4.

each.
2. Working together, each group completes the graphic

organiser in the worksheet. Each group is also asked to


present a drawing to illustrate the information on the
earth, sun and moon. Pupils are encouraged to use
colours in their drawing.

Title

: Preservation & conservation of animals and plants

General Objective

: 1. Understanding that human beings are entrusted to treat living


things with responsibility.

Lesson objective

: In this lesson, pupils will collect, record and arrange information


about efforts in conserving and preserving animals and plants in
Malaysia.

1. Teacher shows pictures, press reports and magazines or

video tapes about species of animals and plants which


are near extinction in Malaysia like turtle, orang utan, the
Rafflesia flower, etc.
2. Pupils are asked to give other examples and name
states where these animals and plants are found.
3. Pupils are asked to relate what they know about efforts
being carried out in Malaysia to preserve and conserve
these animals and plants.
4. Teacher draw concept map to classify the efforts which
the pupils have related.
5. To conduct a class discussion to identify 4 important
efforts.
Examples :
- Creating national parks and forest reserves.
- Setting up animal breeding centres.
- Replanting in areas where trees have been cut.

- Encouraging the involvement of nature-loving bodies.


1. Divide the class into 2 big groups, each consisting of 16
to 24 pupils. This division is necessary because this
method is not suitable for groups larger than 24 pupils.
In this example. It is assumed that a group consists of
16 pupils.
2. Each big group (16 pupils) is further divided into four
home groups, each consisting of 4 pupils
3. Each member of a home group is responsible for one
question. Thus, each member examines one specific

4. Members of the group are selected to make up expert
groups. All pupils studying question 1 make up an expert
group, those studying question 2 make up another
expert group, and so on.
5. Each expert group studies its specific task. All members
of the group need to make notes.
When the work of the expert groups is complete, the
pupils return to their respective home groups. Each
member of the home groups shares with the rest the
information learnt in then expert group.
1. Pupils study again the concept map drawn in the

map are suggested based on new understanding.
2. Oral quiz is carried out.
