A letter fnm Port Au Prince says Salnave
in a recent interview with United States,
French, English and Spanish ministers, declared his determination not to yield to his
antagonists, and to hold his position under
every circumstance.
On the 3d of June an attack was made on
the town by the Caco and was repulsed.
All the prisoners taken by Salnave were
slain. Sulweqnently Solnade's- cavalry were
defeated and Salnave set fire to the north and
north east suburbs. On the 5th Salnave
nent a deputation of his Generals to the army
of toe Southern revolutionist to effect a compromise. He proposed to retain his office

assassins who were armed with revivers.
He was accompanied in his rumblings by his
cousin and a daughter of the latter, together

Prince was also hit and died in a few minutes afterwards. The daughter received a

the others will not be able to escape the vigorous measures taken by the authorities for
