ThisdocumentexplainsaboutinboundandoutboundIdocconfigurationwithsimplesteps.DownloadDetailDocumentinWordFormat.

1.WhatisIdoc?
IDocsarestructuredASCIIfiles(oravirtualequivalent).TheyarethefileformatusedbySAPR/3toexchangedatawithforeignsystems.
IDocsistheacronymforInterchangeDocument(IntermediateDocument).Thisindicatesasetof(electronic)informationwhichbuildsalogicalentity.AnIDocise.g.allthedataofasinglecustomerinyour
customermasterdatafile,ortheIDocisallthedataofasingleinvoice.
TheinformationwhichisexchangedbyIDocsiscalledamessageandtheIDocisthephysicalrepresentationofsuchamessage.ThenamemessagesfortheinformationsentviaIDocsisusedinthe
samewaysasotherEDIstandards.

2.WhyIdocConfiguration?
ToexchangeIDocdatabetweensystemsandpartnersthatarecompletelyindependentorbetweensamesystemsweneedtoconfigure.

3.StepsinIdocConfiguration
Considerwehavetoexchangedatabetweentwodifferentclients.FollowingaretheconfigurationstepscommonforInterchangeDocumentsinboththeclients.

3.1.Createsegment
1. GototransactionWE31>Giveyoursegmentname>PressCreate.
2. Typeyourfieldnameanddataelementandpresssavethensegmentdefinitionwillbecreatedautomatically.

3.2CreateIdocType
GotoTransactionWE30
1. FornewIDOCtypeselecttheradiobuttonBasictypeandpressCreatebutton.
2. ThenselecttheIDOCoptiontocreateandpressEnter.Givesegmentname,minimumandmaximumnumberforandsaveit.Checkifthisismandatorysegment.
3. IfyouwantHeaderandItemcreatethesegmenttreeaccordingtothat,youcanviewasfollowsthenpressSave.
4. ThengobackandsetreleasetheIDOCtypeforusingitfurther.Idoctypewillbecreatedsuccessfullyoncewereleasethatstatus.Wehavetoreleasethesegments(inWE31)andIDOCtypeas
well.

3.3CreateMessageType
GototransactionWE81fornewmessagetype.GotochangemodeandclickNewEntriesforcreatingourownmessagetype.

3.4AssociateMessageTypewithBasicIdocType
GototransactionWE82forassociatingthemessagetypewithbasicIDOCtype.

3.5CreateLogicalSystem
