Raid Configuration for Dell Billing Server

First clear all the configuration Important !!!


Step 1:
Press <Control M> to enter into the RAID Controller Configuration.
Press any key to continue.

Step 2:
In Management Menu, select Configure ---New Configuration.
An Alert box opens and will ask for the permission, Select Yes.
All the hard drives in the RAID Controller will be scanned and will be displayed as

Step 3:
Let us assume that we have 10 hard disks currently in the RAID Controller and are
arranged as follows:

Step 4:
Make all the disks Online using the procedure explained below:
First go to 0 and press Space bar. It will be displayed as ONLIN A00-00.
Next, go to 9, and press Space bar. It will be displayed as ONLIN A00-01.
Press Enter to make the flashing ONLIN disk to be selected.
Press F10 to configure.
An Array table will be displayed as shown below.

At first, Span 1 will not be displayed. So, press Space bar to get the SPAN 1 in
the box and press Enter to select the Array.
Again press F10 to configure the Array selected.
A small window with the configurations will be displayed.
RAID = 1
SIZE
Advanced Menu
Accept
Span = no.

Use Down Arrow key and select the option Accept. Press Enter.
Therefore, logical drive 0 is created.

Step 5:
Next, go to 1, and press Space bar. It will be displayed as ONLIN A01-00.
Next, go to 10, and press Space bar. It will be displayed as ONLIN A01-01.
Press Enter to make the flashing ONLIN disk to be selected.
Therefore, Disk 2--- ONLIN A02-00.

Disk 11---ONLIN A02-01.


Disk 3 --- ONLIN A03-00.
Disk 12---ONLIN A03-01.
Disk 4 --- ONLIN A04-00.
Disk 5---ONLIN A04-01
Press Enter to select all the Disks and then Press F10 to configure.
An Array table will be displayed as shown below.

Again press F10 to configure the Array selected.


A small window with the configurations will be displayed.

Accept
Span = yes.

Use Down Arrow key and select the option Accept. Press Enter.
Press Escape key and a window prompts up asking for saving the configuration.
Select yes and save the configuration.

Step 6:
In the Management menu select Objects---Adapter.
Check for these parameters in the table shown:
Go to Adapter

Enable BIOS should be disabled


(When you move curser at Enable BIOS, it will show BIOS is currently Disable)
Initiator ID = 6.( same ID should not be given to both the server, use 7 to other server, *
6 and 7 is reserved for system SCIC for PowerVault 220S)
Cluster mode = enabled.

Step 7:
In the Management menu select Initialize to initialize the logical drives created.
We can see two logical drives LOGICAL DRIVE 0 and LOGICAL DRIVE1.
Press F2 to select the logical drive 0 and logical drive 1. Press F10 and then Select
YES to proceed.
We can view the progress of initialization of both the logical drives, which will be done
from 0% to 100%.
Press ESC key to come out of the configuration settings and exit utility.
System restarts.

Step 8:
Insert the DELL OPEN MANAGE SERVER ASSISTANT CD version 8.1 and follow
the steps. Click on the Server setup and proceed... Not necessary

Step 9
Restart the server
Press F2 to go to Setup mode
Go to BIOS
Integrated Devices..
It shows
Integrated RAID Controler.Enabled
Embedded SATA.OFF
IDE CD-ROM Controler..Auto
User Accessible USB Port All Ports On
Embedded Cb NIC1..Enable with PXE
MAC Address00188B4A84C2
TOE CapabilityEnable
Embedded Cb NIC2Enabled without PXE.
MAC Address..00188B4A84C
TOE CapabilityEnabled.
